no-brainer, calling trump "massively unfit to be president." >> christa: meantime, the u.s. justice department is sending more than 500 staffers to 28 different states to monitor the polls due to security concern, and one of those locations the nearby in quincy, which is where we find 7's nicole oliverio, who is live for us reporting on that this morning. nicole? >> nicole: christa, this is the only location in massachusetts where that's going to be happening. here in quincy, when voters head to the the u.s. department of justice has sent election monitors here. this is all part of a broad national effort to make sure that voter rights are protected. the justice department announced yesterday it's sending out more than 500 people to 67 different jurisdictions across the country to monitor polls during the general election. the department says that its poll watchers will gather information on whether voters are subject to different voting qualifications or procedures on the basis of race, color or

minority group. the city clerk in kinsey told "the boston globe" she wasn't aware of any problems or complaints in quincy. she said that the visiting officials had asked about places where asian american residents actually vote. the polls open in a couple hours. the trump campaign has been saying they believe that this election is rigged, so, of course, these federal poll workers want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible. that's the latest live in quincy. nicole oliverio, 7news "today in new england." could help determine the balance of power in the u.s. senate. today voters will decide between republican senator kelly aidea or her democratic challenger governor maggie hassan. so far the race has been tight. a recent 7news/umass lowell poll found things virtually deadlocked. >> christa: massachusetts voters are deciding a handful of ballot questions, as well. let's go to 7's kris anderson who continues our coverage with a closer look at two of these big issues. >> kris: christa, the first of

and that sunshine will get to work quite nicely and quite quickly today, warming us up through this afternoon. looks like i'm showing you a blk. map. that's the forecast model saying, not much in the way of cloud cover or rain across new england. that's a different story by tomorrow. we start to fill in the clouds. there may be a sprinkle or two outside tomorrow morning. mid-day enter the afternoon, though, better chance of picking up a few showers working on in. not a tremendous amount of rain. most towns picking up one-tenth of an inch or less. so this a little wet weather certainly a possibility on wednesday and then once we get late enter the week, what we're watching is this second front that's going to come on through. this looks dark and moist. so maybe a passing sprinkle in a few towns. but i don't expect much out of it. friday is a breezy day. it's almost more of a cloud producer and wind maker than anything else. then you get on the other side of the front, one quick shot of cold air. 24 hours in new england, and then it's out of here. we start to moderate by the

sunday morning and saturday, not that saturday will be a bad day. it's just that sunday we start to moderate back into the 50s after being stuck in the mid-40s on saturday. and again, a bit of a breeze on friday to usher in that cooler air. we have this milder trend today. then we shut the door on that and push it off to the south as we get into saturday. but it's just a brief shot across the northeast section of the united states. you can see it on saturday. still a . of mild air across a good chunk of this will start to work back on in sunday and monday. so look at the seven-day forecast, you'll see that moderating trend as we get into early next week. 57 to 63. so a few degrees either side of 60 this afternoon. the cooler side of it along the coastline thanks to that sea breeze kicking in, a lot of sunshine and light winds. a very enjoyable afternoon. not as cool tonight. 38 in some of the cooler temperatures. 48 in boston. i think by day break, the clouds start the move on in, a lot of these mid to upper 30s start

anderson. polls open in new hampshire and in massachusetts, voting gets under way at 7:00 a.m. a live look outside. the weather can impact voter turnout, but it is expected to be a nice day in new england, although it is a chilly start this morning, chris. this is jacket weather. >> chris: 38 in boston, but it is frosty in many towns. you may need a few minutes to run the defrost, get the ice off the windshield. 40 degrees in worcester that. 40 is indicative of that cold air tends to cool down near the surface on these clear, calm overnights. so it does show us that the atmosphere is milder today. so once you get the sunshine up, mix up the atmosphere for a couple hours, it's off to the races temperature-wise. you look at where we finish, close to 60 this afternoon. in fact, by 10:00 a.m., i think many towns will be closer to 50. a little bit cooler along the coastline, sea breeze kicking on in. lots of 62s and 63s inland.

they will monitor polls because of security concerns. one of the locations is quincy. that's where 7'sology of sol is live with the very latest on this. nicole? >> nicole: kris, we can tell you that quincy is the only city or town in massachusetts where those election monitors will be. the u.s. justice department sending out the election monitors to quincy as part of a broad national effort to make sure that voter rights are protected. the department says that its poll watchers will gather information on whether voters qualifications or procedures on the basis of race, color or membership in a language minority group. now, the city clerk here told "the boston globe" that she wasn't aware of any problems or complaints here in quincy, and she said visiting officials had asked about places where asian american residents vote. so the department of justice announced yesterday that it's going to be sending out more than 500 people to 67 different jurisdictions today to monitor the polls during the election. the polls opening in just a
