weekend arrest. good evening. i'm erin kiernan. and i'm dan winters. lincoln high school is moving on educators. channel 13's justin surrency has details of the arrest that ended his career... it's a crime rarely seen... "not to my knowledge, we don't usually have things like that happen like this at the mall..." but on saturday at 1:16pm west des moines officers responded to valley west mall... "this individual approached a food counter at the mall and when he did so, he exposed the lower half of his body and his zipper was open on his pants."the suspect described was 60 year old michael madson a teacher at des moines' lincoln high school... after being approached by mall security, madson who was not under the influence of drugs or
then tried to escape... "when they asked him for i-d he that time and he tried to take off running."when interviewed by police the report says madson's hands were shaking and he told the officer people only run for two reasons; because they are the officer asked madson if he exposed himself... "he denied that it happened..."after interviewing the clerk who witnessed the incident madson public exposure a simple misdemeanor... "lincoln high school's website says madson has been teaching for nearly 30 years he was also the school's involvement in the des moines education association."des moines public schools released this statement thursday afternoon immediately placed on administrative return to the school. he resigned his position on tuesday." madson spent 14 of his 29 years at lincoln high school...he was
police custody saturday afternoon....he is scheduled to appear at the polk at 1 p-m... tonight, police say fire isn't what killed a nevada man... just after three a-m, this home. the size of the fire made it unsafe for search and rescue. once the fire was out, firefighters found the body of 36-year adam blazek. a preliminary autopsy shows he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. investigators think he set the house on fire because it was started in two different locations. no one else was hurt, university of iowa hospitals are warning 17-hundred patients about possible exposure to a deadly bacteria... according to the cedar rapids gazette... the bacteria can be spread by a bypass machine used for major heart and lung surgeries. the hospital says one patient already tested positive for the bacteria. the hospital has since replaced the bypass machine and is improving how it disinfects and maintains
