presidential campaign -- the big day is finally here. voters across the country head to the polls today. and we have team coverage this morning -- with everything you need to know before you cast your ballot. plus - just how close the race is for wisconsin's u-s senate seat. rob joins us now with more on the weather. rob's weather a cold front moves morning. that is generating a narrow band of light showers that should pass by around 8am. after that we slowly dry up and clear out. highs today will get to the mid to upper 50s which, while cooler than yesterday, is still well above average. sunshine and low to mid 50 tomorrow as high pressure returns. then we warm into the low 60s for thursday before cooling back to the low 50s for friday and saturday. we stay dry and mostly sunny with a slight warming again sunday. today: morning showers out by 8am. then slowly clearing.

proof of residence too. your photo i-d does not need to have your current address on it...and your name on your id does not have to exactly match your name on the poll list. it will simply be used for the picture valid i-d's include a wisconsin driver's liscence or state i-d card...a military of veteran's i-d...tribal i-d or a certificate of naturalization. if you do not have an acceptable id...you can cast a provisional ballot. the vote will be counted if you come back to the municipal clerk by 4 an acceptable i-d. the polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm officials already saw record turnout for in person absentee voting. but they're still expecting long lines today...and they've been preparing for weeks. rallying campaign workers in racine. despite being the incumbent, senator johnson trailed by a significant margin as late as as october. but the race tightened up recently, with the latest marquette poll showing former senator feingold with just a point lead. and that means both men know how important every last vote will be on election day. - this is just going to be razor thin. so the attitude that you must ta individual effort - getting those extra votes - is going to literally be the individual effort thats going to save this country. - you either get a senator who is going to vote with working and middle income families to do something about the minimum wage, family leave, pharmaceutical medicine. or you have somebody who is going to keep voting for the big corporations and the out of state interests, its as simple as that. the race has major implications for the national scene as well,

johnson is up against history also. no gop candidate has won a wisconsin senate seat in a presidential election year since 1980. for those in wisconsin's first congressional district - a big race on your ballot. house speaker paul ryan is going up against democrat ryan solen. america will decide who will be the 45th president of the united states today. coming...but the race between hillary clinton and donald trump will be decided today. and voters have already started casting their ballots. nicole joins us now with more. polls have already opened -- and closed in one small town in new hampshire! midnight voting has been a dixville notch tradition since 19-60. new hampshire communities with less than one-hundred registered voters are permitted to cast their in- person votes just past the stroke of midnight on election day. and the votes are in! democratic nominee hillary

clearing. high: 56 wind: nw 10-15 mph developing this morning. police investigating three shootings from overnight. the first happened near 47th and clarke just after 9 p-m. a 25-year-old man and 27-year-old woman were shot after a confrontation with the suspect. and expected to survive. then about an hour later - police called to 49th and luscher for a 29-year-old man who had been shot. officials say the man was called to the scene of an on-going fight...and when he showed up...someone started shooting at him. and then at around 11:15 -- a 27-year-year old man was shot near 23rd and greenfield. police say he was in a fight with two other people when someone shot him. all the victims in these cases expected to survive...and police continue to search for suspects in each

investigating two fatal pedestrian crashes in 2 days. in one a woman was hit in a crosswalk...and the other a 5 year old girl hit while holding her mother's hand. and we have new information on the s-u-v involved in that crash. nicole is in the newsroom with the latest. police have released photos of the car believed to be responsible for hitting and killing rickyia langham. take a look at this picture. police are looking for a grey or silver 2002 to 2010 porsche s-u-v with possible passenger sidea rickyia was hit near leon terrace and constance avenue sunday -- while holding her mother's hand. a vigil was held for the little girl last night. a memorial fund has been set up for rickyia at educator's credit union. anyone with information is asked to call police. and a 50-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle near 60th and norwich yesterday afternoon. we're told she was hit in a crosswalk...and died at the scene. the driver did stay on scene...and is cooperating with

the bodies have been discovered on the property of todd kohlhepp. he has confessed to four murders that happened back in 2003. he was arrested after a missing woman was found alive chained up in a metal container last week. investigators have spent the last several days digging for remains. the bodies have not been identified yet. the medical examiner's office is expected to begin its investigation today. the f-b-i and homeland security are also assisting in the investigation. a new jersey man has been charged in a stabbing ra over the weekend in newark. jeremy arrington allegedly attacked six people in a home -- killing three of them. police posted a picture of him last month on facebook saying he was wanted for shooting and sexually assaulting a friend. one of the stabbing victims had shared that post...and investigators say arrington went to the house on saturday to exact revenge. officials say arrington knew the family he attacked. some do's and don'ts today as you head to the polls.

this year --- a voter i-d. our deandra corinthios joins us now from downtown milwaukee with more. from what you wear to what you post on social media...you'll need to be careful. and do not forget your photo i-d. an example...would be a wisconsin driver's liscence. and know your polling location...and your registration status if you plan to register at the polls today bring proof of residency with you. political items such as clothing or other paraphernalia like pins or buttons or hats will not be allowed...and an election official can ask you to remove or cover the item. that is considered electioneering. you are also not allowed to campaign within 100 feet from entrance of a polling place. also...no selfies at the polls...pictures in polling places or voting booths are illegal. polls open at 7 am and close at 8 pm. reporting live in

day then drying up with highs near 56. right now . when the sun takes over again next. university of wisconsin-madison officials have revoked season tickets for two football fans who dressed in an offensive costume the unidentified men wore a costume to the nebraska game at camp randall stadium. one of them was wearing a mask depicting president obama -- and had a noose around his neck. the other had a donald trump mask -- and was leading the other man around with the noose. the university's chancellor has since revoked those students tickets...and in a statement says officials are reviewing carry-in and ticket policies. any changes made will be in place prior to the game on saturday. the statement ended by saying quote : "we will learn from this incident
