news from overnight -- milwaukee

area of 27th and capitol just before 10 last night. it all started when police attempted a traffic stop and the subject's vehicle took off -- speeding down 27th. as the subjects neared capitol -- they crashed into another car and a light pole. a passenger in the back seat of the fleeing vehicle -- believed to be a male in his late teens or early 20's -- died on scene. the driver, an 18 year old female and two other male passengers ages 18 and 20 suffered serious injuries but are believed to be non life of the other car suffered non life threatening injuries. the investigation is ongoing. a teacher's car is stolen from her school -- the culprit? she says it's one of her students. and despite a confession--the teacher says her car and the student are still missing. fox six's ashley sears has the story you'll see only on fox6. 38:30 it was surprising to see

a keychain-- tuesday afternoon-- when 8th grade teacher, kristin bessler was leaving the universal academy school. she noticed--a very important key was gone. 47:50 i take these out and clip my school keys on and then i grab for my car key and i walk out the door with my car key, but it was missing. and when she looked for her 2007 buick rendezvous-- 36:36 i walked outside and noticed my car was missing. it was gone too. bessler reported the theft to police. day--suspicious of who might have stolen it. 37:11 the entire day youre questioning, whos here? who isnt? her biggest fear--confirmed she says by surveillance. a student from her 8th grade english class--caught on camera, 37:39 we have the videotape of him standing outside, starting at my car, waiting for other cars to leave and then actually getting in and driving off like a perfect driver. ' bessler says the student confessed to school

told them to send the 14-year-old home. when police went to take the kid into custody--he had vanished. 39:35 we know who he is, but we dont have him. bessler is frustrated--both her car and the suspect are gone. but hopeful--both will be found soon. 42:25 i just think everyone deserves to get answers. police say they continue to seek the suspect and the stolen vehicle. and tell us this case will be present to the milwaukee county district attorney's office in the coming days. in the newsroom, ashley sears fox 6 he was considered one of president- elect donald trump's harshest critics on the campaign trail -- but yesterday, mitt romney sat down with mr. trump. romney had called mr. trump a phony... while the president-elect called him a "stone cold loser" -- but the two seem to be moving on. they met for an hour at mr. trump's private golf course in new jersey -- as the president-elect works to form his cabinet. romney wouldn't respond to questions about joining the administration --

"we had a far-reaching conversation with regards to various theaters in the world where there are interest of the united states of real significance, we discussed those areas and exchanged our views on those topics. president-elect trump said he thought the meeting "went great." one last sweep. if youve been raking your leaves up -- today is the day. since weather was unseasonably warm -- foliage clung to the trees longer than expected, so the city of milwaukees department of public works extended it's deadline until today. yesterday crews scanned the streets picking up consolidated piles. last year sanitation staff collected more than 16,000 tons of leaves, which is incredible -- considering how they are going to be recycled and reused to help the environment. "its re purposing these leaves.

and send in them to a commercial compost site where its made into soil products and that with sold in bulk or bagged in retail stores." it takes about two weeks for fro leaf collection operations to cycle through the city. if you miss today's deadline -- you are encouraged to mulch the leaves on your own and leave them on the lawn, compost them or take them to a city self-help center for composting. it's that time of the year -- gun deer hunting season is now officially sanchez tells us how the weather played a role in day one of the hunt. wakeup news. here's a look at ...! ad lib facebook is taking steps to prevent fake news stories from being shared on the social media site. c-e-o mark zuckerberg announced the new measures in a post friday night. the move comes after criticism that fake news may have affected the outcome of the presidential election. zuckerberg said facebook is working to better red flags about questionable stories. he also said the company wants to make it easier to report fake news. and fact-checking organizations could be involved in the project as well. the announcement is a 180-degree turn for zuckerberg -- who initially called it a "crazy idea" that fake news may have influenced the election.

milwaukee police are investigating a fatal accident -- it happened in the area of 27th and capitol just before 10 last night. it all started when police attempted a traffic stop and the subject's vehicle took off -- speeding down 27th. as the subjects neared capitol -- they crashed into another car and a light pole. a passenger in the back seat of the fleeing vehicle -- believed to be a male in his late teens or early 20's -- died on scene. the driver, an 18 year old female and two other male passengers ages 18
