some students say that they pay annually to park their cars at that five-story facility. it is generally very busy. students are surprised to learn of this attack. for the 11:45 wednesday night, a student artwork car and was headed to the dormitory when she was attacked. >> anything that happens is usually off campus. >> kreimer off the school grounds is fairly common lately, but news of a female student being attacked on campus has many upset. >> that bothers me because crime on campus is usually pretty low. >> police say the man followed her down the stairwell, just call from an emergencyh box. he grant.

broke out last night on kennedy street. three people were treated for smoke inhalation. a firefighter suffered an ankle injury. there's nowhere on the cause of the blaze. learning about a body that was found in a box along american side this week. d.c. police say that 36-year- old jacobo vasquez was shot to death at a building on constitution avenue. his body was dumped on interstate 70. they are looking for marvin palencia of hyattsville. surveillance video shows him acting strangely on the day that the man disappeared. they were fighting over a woman. controversy continues to grow over the new security measures at airports. homeland security officials say that the pat-downs are getting results. ongoing intelligence about threats prompted the need for

broken-down car often botox between 198 and 197 when he felt. he was struck by another vehicle. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. a search is underway for the man to attack the students inside the university of maryland parking garage. if the students had just parked her vehicle and the suspect grabbed her. he has herself on and student i.d. all she got away from him. 27 - are missing in new zealand after an explosion at the country's largest coal mine. -- 27 miners. a buildup of gas may have contributed to the explosion. we are still waiting for the verdict in the chandra levy murder trial. the jury goes back to work this morning for a third day of deliberations. courtney robinson is live, superior court with the latest. >> good morning.

three hours from now we will see a juror is headed back to d.c. superior court to continue deliberations. as to exactly where the deliberations are headed is anyone's guess. just which way are the jurors swaying in determining the fate of ingmar guandique. nine women and three men on the jury deliberating inside d.c. superior court. entering a third day of deliberations. it appears they are debating two theories. a jail does confession from him to of former cellmate, an inmate with much to gain. and the other from the defense, that there is overwhelming reasonable doubt and no forensic evidence linking him to the murder. no one knows the exact cause of death. prosecutors told jurors that they believed it was a slow death likely from starvation or dehydration. is there enough circumstantial evidence to convict, is the question.

father rarely boulevard. if it was breaking news earlier this morning on the baltimore washington barretto it. it was the fatal crash between 198 and 197. the parkway has been reopened. now to pamela brown for the latest on the accident investigation. >> good morning. the scene has been cleared on the bw parkway southbound. traffic is moving now. this unfolded at around 1:00 this morning. u.s. park police say that a man driving down bw parkway southbound between 198 and 197 got out of his car after it apparently broke down. an oncoming car struck the vehicle and driver. he was dead on arrival. we don't have anymore information on that driver. there or other cars on the scene. investigators are in the process of investigating the drivers of those cars as defined above what they witnessed and what their

possible involvement was an accident. there's a tour bus that had to swerve to miss the collision. the tour bus is stuck on a muddy median on the bw parkway. there were passengers on the tour bus. that is another situation police are trying to resolve. there's only one fatality, no other injuries to reports. the investigation is underway. back to you. >> thank you. i'm glad bw parkway is back open. our other top story, police are looking for a man who attacked the university of mmaryland student on the college park campus. >> at the mowatt lane garage, the man followed the victim down the stairs and grabbed her and pushed what appeared to be a gun into her back.

she got a leg, lisa lerer id. former boxer keely thompson is accused of taking money from this on boxing organization for at risk youths. investigators say that he used the money for gambling and vacations. an off-duty federal officer named keith shepherd is charged with animal cruelty and firing a gun near homes. he shot and killed a siberian husky in august at a dog park. he says he acted in self defense to protect his wife and dog. president obama is in portugal for two days of meetings with european allies. he will discuss the afghan war and global security threats with nato leaders. he will have meetings with european union leaders as well. millions of people could soon see their unemployment benefits run out.

the house failed to approve a bill that would extend jobless benefits for another three months. that bill was brought to the floor under fast-track rules that require a two-thirds vote. republicans opposed the measure because they could not attached spending cuts. >> and other developing story, for the tsa is standing by new and more exclusive security checks at airports. >> this is as americans prepare for the busy holiday travel season. emily schmidt tallon the latest developments on this. good morning. >> good morning. a couple days ago we were talking about this issue and people complaining about the new security measures. since then, the criticism has grown louder. the tsa has been trying to explain why this was done. the balance of privacy vs. security, tipping the wrong direction according to some.
