brianne carter has more. >> the people who live in this rowhouse are shaken up this morning. according to police, a woman found the intruder in the nose as she local. unit house.i-qunitil police brought k9 units and continued to search the house. they did not find anyone inside and did not find forced entry. police are looking around the area and did not find anyone. police will continue to investigate this. the people who live inside this house are taken up by what they saw this morning. back to you. >> thank you. now we move to a developing story on the korean peninsula.

a clash between north and south korea. north korea opened the garage of mortar fire on a disputed islands and south korea responded. marine was killed from south korea and 14 others injured. white has condemned the attack. justice borate chandra levy. a jury convicted accused killer in my guandique on monday. >> it took the jury three days to reach the decision, but it ended an nine-year-case that gripped the nation. courtney robinson has more. >> many emotions run high yesterday as the verdict came down. we saw chandra levy's mother staring yet ingmar guandique with a look of vengeance and a slight smile.

disappearance and she had a relationship with american congressman, gary condit. mother, thisevy's will always be around. >> it is always going to be a feeling of sadness. >> as for ingmar guandique, he faces life in prison without parole he. will be sentenced in february. courtney robinson, abc 7 news. a man who admitted murdering a d.c. middle school principal will be sentenced today. 19-year-old alante saunders pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for killing brian betts in april. there's new information about yesterday's deadly arojas fire in northwest in columbia heights. the hydrants were not working. the fire occurred at 3:30 p.m.

start the day. 55 in hyattsville, 53 in arlington, 41 in bristow. we are in the low 50's and upper 40's. clear skies overhead right now. not far to the west, rain showers moving into western pennsylvania and west virginia. much of that will fall apart over the mountains. we will see just a few showers in the metro area around lunchtime. this morning later we will have rainshowers in the shenandoah valley. sunshine at 8:00 a.m. in the 50's. areas of rain here and there this afternoon. minimal accumulation. high temperatures in the 60's. some upper 60's especially south of the metro area. a lot cooler tomorrow behind the cold front, sunshine, highs near 50. slight chance of isolated

welcome back. we begin with our top story. breaking news. investigators are searching for a person who may have broken into a northwest washington house. a woman told police she believed she saw an intruder, but they did not find anyone. a salvadoran immigrant faces more time in jail for being convicted of murdering a federal intern. ingmar guandique is guilty of killing chandra levy in 2001. he's already spending time in prison for attacking two other women. a jawbone found on a week

earlier this month may belong to missing alabama teenager natalee holloway. she went missing on the caribbean island in 2005. the body has never been found. the fight between privacy and security is still raging at the nation's airports. americans supports using high- tech scanners, but they are split over the personal pat- downs. >> the tsa is apologizing to passengers and asking for help. pamela brown is at reagan national with more. >> good morning. despite the controversy, most americans say that they take safety over being comfortable. a new poll finds that half of americans feel the aggressive pat-downs go too far, but only 1 of 3 oppose the scanners.

in the making. on the fourth day of deliberations, a jury convicted ingmar guandique for the murder of chandra levy. courtney robinson has latest from the case that captured nationwide attention nearly a decade. >> good morning. this jury convicted ingmar guandique of two counts of first-degree felony murder for the death of chandra levy. all 12 silda that they had no doubt that the prosecution presented a solid case. they believe in may of 2001 that guandique attack chandra levy, dragged her into the woods in rock creek park and either killed her or left her there to die. it's bill long time coming for the family of chandra levy. the mother was present in the courtroom for all of this. the prosecution presented other testimony from two women assaulted by ingmar guandique near rock creek park. the jury said that played into

we don't have the thick fog that we did yesterday. notice the cold front to the west. right along this line of showers and even a few thunderstorms at the south end of the cold front. that will continue to push eastward. this will be falling apart over the mountains later this morning. showers could make it to the metro area, not amounting to much, a little over a trace. that should be around lunchtime across most of the metro area. there is a line of showers breaking apart and clearing out later this afternoon and evening. we transition between the cold front of a high-pressure system tonight and there's going to be a breeze from the north. clear skies on wednesday because of high-pressure. then the college will return on thursday. -- clouds will return.
