pennsylvania avenue. the car caught fire after the crash and there is no word on the victim's condition or what exactly led to this crash. jury selection begins today for a former uva lacrosse star accused of killing a classmate. >> george huguely is accused of killing his girlfriend in a fit of rage. the violence sent shock waves. >> good morning the students were just days from graduation. the chevy chase maryland resident george huguely will stand trial filing for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. it is unclear whether he will testify but we know that the jury will listen to recordings between him and police. >>the circuit court in charlotte has the daunting task of picking jurors from a pool of three into people that have not been influenced by the high-profile of the murder case.

13 people are dead after a powerful earthquake struck the central part of the country. the 6.8 earthquake caused a landslide that barry does of homes and at least 29 people are still missing. it was a tragic end to a missing persons mystery in utah. josh collins said his washington state home on fire killing himself and his two children. gas was detected and the home exploded. he sent e-mail to his lawyer that said he was sorry, goodbye. he had been a suspect in the 2009 disappearance of his wife in utah and he had been in a custody fight with her parents for his two young sons. >> an occupy protester accused of hitting a police officer with

the british may make his first course of -- court appearance today. >> he was arrested saturday. we will tell you what is next. >> that's right they say this movement is far from over a number of those tents remained but there are fewer protesters out here. this is after police command to mcpherson square and freedom plaza over the weekend green authorities said they came in early saturday morning as part of an enforcement not an addiction. they say this was to enforce that wasban that is in place -- that camping ban. police are making sure that once again there are no clashes. there were many this weekend. we understand that 12 people were arrested including the man police believe is responsible for throwing a brick that struck a park police officer.

prices -- gas rose almost 13 cents in the past month and prices may go up another 60 -- 16 cents by may. it is wary about the middle east. despite high gas prices, dealers are optimistic about their sales with cars. they're getting new models and using social media more. 80% of car buyers started shopping online. the target plan to woo shoppers seemed to be workable. jason wu had fashions selling at a target under $60. chronicle took top honors at box offices this weekend. it took an $22 million, almost three times what they had expected. >> 6:80 and so let's get a look at traffic and weather. >> let's check in with lisa

today. high pressure over head and that will translate into sunshine today and tomorrow but a weak disturbance over colorado will cause a little bit of light snow over the rockies and that will track east and by wednesday it should be around the washington area. it will not have much moisture but we could have just enough to squeeze out a little bit of light rain and may be wet snow mixed in on the day on wednesday. we are not expecting accumulations. sunshine today and warmer than yesterday, 53 for the high temperature and warmer tomorrow, close to 60 south of the metro area with sunshine. wednesday is a bump in the road with a chance of a brief wintry mix. it looks like we will cool down again by the upcoming weekend colder air should be on the way by saturday and sunday but no big snowstorms. two years ago we already have 1 foot of snow on the ground of dulles airport.

accused of killing a classmate. >> prosecutors say george huguely killed his ex-girlfriend yeardley love and a fit of rage. this sent shockwaves from charlottesville to chevy chase and baltimore. >> good morning the four-year students work days for graduation and chevy chase resident george huguely will stand trial for the murder of his ex-girlfriend. it is unclear whether he will testify but we know that the jury when selected, will listen to recordings between him and police. the circuit court in charlottesville has the task of selecting potential jurors from a pool of about 300 people who have not been influenced by this high-profile murder case. yeardley love was found beaten to death in her off-campus apartment back in may of 2010 after a heated argument with your export -- ex-boyfriend george huguely. there were both lacrosse

with his -- with her two parents. >> good morning authorities believe this was all planned out. they think it was a suicide note. minutes before the house exploded josh palle santa ynez to his attorney with just three words -- "i'm sorry, goodbye." the images of what is left of the hamas heart wrenching, are fine and sad. a social worker had just brought the two boys to buy a home for a supervised visit. she says he let the boys inside and locked her out. the social worker told police she smelled gas and called for supervisors but the home exploded before she could get help. >> it can be anywhere. this is not something you want to ever experience. >> palle and the boys died in

the blast and it was no accident. >> this is not a tragedy. this is deeply wrong and that is why this is people. >> josh fattal has been the sole person of interest in the disappearance of his wife susan back in 2009 barry he maintains he took his sons on may overnight camping trip. he lost custody of the parents to his -- to our parents after they found sexually oriented images in his home. it was last week that a judge ordered judge powell to under go a psychiatric evaluation. police are searching for a motive but according to attorneys, the older son had begun talking about the night there went camping and he allegedly told investigators that his mommy was in the trunk. >> 6:35 and some occupy d.c. protesters remain in mcpherson square after 11 erastus over the weekend for a violent clashes

today my journey continues across the gden state, where everyone has been unbelievably nice. mornin'. i guess i'm helping them save hundreds on car insurance. it probably also doesn't hurt that i'm a world-famous advertising icon. cheers! i mean, who wouldn't want a piece of that? geico. ah... fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent oh dear... or more on car insurance.
