brianne carter tells us what caused the sudden resignation. >> good morning. when asked about whether or not he had any plans to resign on tuesday, kwame brown said no but that is exactly what has happened after facing these charges. we could hear from him about all of this later today. this is the latest shake-up involving the d.c. council. >> kwame brown stepped down from his post after being charged by the feds with bank fraud for allegedly lying about his income on loan applications. his resignation letter -- "i have made some serious mistakes in judgment for which i will take full responsibility." >> it is a sad day for us on the council. >> his charges the latest in a string of alleged wrongdoing involving city leaders in the nation to get capital.

central canada, pulling the warm air northward. we have been in this dip in the jet stream and dry in the cooler air south were. that is what it is called left side. that will change. as the warm air slowly moves into town the next couple of days, you will notice the rising temperatures. especially by the weakened, near 90. today, right near 80. this is two degrees below average. a good amount of sunshine. slight chance of thundershowers and rainbows later on today. here's the key timidity by sunday. >> we are feeling good. we are going to look at 270 because we are looking for a southbound accident between 8109. sticky. the thing i 70 to 109. we are giving the green light from gaithersburg all the way to the beltway. it is good on the beltway at the american legion bridge at tysons in bethesda. no problems to report in virginia. 66 and 95, just a growing

and it's a landmark verdict in massachusetts might have you thinking twice about texting while driving. an 18-year-old is the first person to be convicted of causing a fatal accident while texting. aaron centex messages before and after the february 2011 crash that killed a new hampshire man and seriously injured his girlfriend to. a judge sentenced him to one year in prison. he will lose his license for 15 years. another way to keep your passengers safe while driving is to make sure children are probably lead to a child safety seat -- properly latched into a

>> testimony will start on monday in former coach jerry sandusky's child molestation trial. >> the jury was chosen yesterday. it is expected to last several weeks. >> the jury is now set in the south abuse case of former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky. the 12 will include a penn state sr., retired professor and a woman who is been a season-ticket holder since 1970.

>> as a prosecutor, you want the jury to focus on the actions of jerry sandusky, not the actions of penn state. the prosecutors as well as the judge and the defense attorney should be asking the jurors whether they would be able to separate the case. >> the 68-year-old has denied the allegations that he molested 10 victims over 15 years. an attorney that represents the first of the alleged victims to testify, now 28, he will bring a pile of evidence, expensive gifts prosecutors say that he received from jerry sandusky as a teenager. perhaps the strongest physical evidence prosecutors have, love letters written to the boys in sandusky's own hand. >> it will be more difficult for him to handle other than the abuse that he suffered at the hands of mr. sandusky. >> sources characterized the letters as creepy and they tell abc news that one of them is written in the third person, a

a nice start to the day. low humidity. cooler air entrenched across the northeast and west atlantic -- and mid-atlantic. 50 degrees in syracuse. a warm air getting pushed up the planes. rapid city, 65. even minneapolis is warmer than us, 66. 58 in the district. it's all because of our weather patterns, the jet stream. a bump in the jet stream over north central canada that pulling the warm air north. we have been entrenched in the trough, pulling the cooler air south into washington for the past several days. another day below average in terms of temperatures. the average high is 82. we will be 80 degrees this afternoon for the high temperature at 3:00 p.m. a few thundershowers possible of between 2:00 p.m. and 9:00. not everyone will see them. isolated embedded downpours. through the weekend, dry
