good friday morning, i'm kendis gibson. >> and aim adrienne bankert in for diane. anti-trump anger spilling into the streets overnight. >> it is happening right now. the protests in portland, oregon, take a violent turn. protesters vandalize cars and buildings smashing windows, hurling projectiles at police. a live look at portland in the early morning hours. you can see police in riot gear are still out there in force and you can also see that ty people there in custody and this is after protesters have been throwing glass and bottles of officers and had to fire rubber bullets and disburse place and pepper spray. >> they're calling it criminal activity in the pearl district which used to be a warehouse community there but now has become an upscale part of town

businesses and some of those damaged by what police are calling the rioters versus protesters. there were violent clashes in oakland, california, for a third night along with vandalism and street fires, a day after three police officers were injured. in new york city markedly smaller crowds gathering at trump tower. hundreds chanting not my president and in louisville as many as 3,000 protested through the streets and here in we have a shot for you there. >> in the meantime, president-elect trump visited the white house for his first van significance meeting saying they had great chemistry. we'll continue to keep an eye on that but as a mentioned president-elect described his day in the nation's chem tall as fantastic in stark contrast to the sentiment of many frustrated voters. >> that anger in the streets of america's biggest cities shows

vice president-elect mike pence discussing his upcoming duties and looked over biden's policy portfolios that include the nato alliance and expanding access to the middle class. biden and pence have been friends since they served in congress together from 2001 until 2009. there's talk donald trump could be looking inside his own family to find his chief of staff. trump's son-in-law jared kushner was seen walking with obama's chief of staff denis mcdonough at the white house. was also a key adviser during the campaign. the trump team shook things up with the media breaking protocol and bucking a long-standing practice of allowing reporters to track america's new leader. mr. trump left new york city without pool reporters and kept them in the dark during his historic first meetings with leaders in washington including president obama. one reporter says it sets a dangerous precedent. anyone who has been to new york city knows trump tower is

in california a big rig fire caused a massive traffic delay. authorities were forced to shut down parts of the 60 freeway near los angeles. the flames sparked a brush fire that acres before it was contained. witnesses heard several explosions, they say, as the flames spread. the problem for drivers in california this morning will be at the other end of the state with wet roads there and in oregon as well as washington. roads could also be slippery in west texas along the border. other than that driving actually looks pretty good. a former illinois congressman has been indicted on charges of abusing public funds. >> yeah, talking about aaron

night of protests in several cities across the nation including baltimore, minneapolis, philadelpha -- as well as d-c. this was the scene last night-- as hundreds of protests again marched from the trump international hotel, to the white house. in baltimore-- police say as many as 600 protesters marched through the streets, eventually ending up at the inner harbor, near ravens stadium. our sister station, w-b-f-f is reporting that at least 2 demonstrators were detained, but no one was charged. police say while some individuals blocked roadways, the protests were mostly peaceful. in oregon. police say anti-trump demonstrations ended in a riot in portland overnight. dozens of cars and businesses were damaged as about 4,000 protesters marched in the streets with chants like "we reject the president-elect." police say several people have been detained. a youth basketball couch -- arrested for trying to arrange sex with a minor! police say asil din of germantown posted on craigslist -- then began a conversation with who he thought was
