london tonight. >> reporter: in london today, from every direction, first responders swarming to the scene of the rush hour attack. and tonight, all out manhunt for those who planted this smoldering bomb on the packed subway car. the home made explosive detonated at 8:20am, ruthlessly targeting passengers going to is work, children to school. >> literally within three seconds of putting your bag down, the doors just closing, we hear a loud explosion occur. >> i turned left and i saw the fireball surged toward my side. >> reporter: then, panic as people tried to escape. >> there was a woman underneath me, there was a lady saying i'm pregnant. this little boy his face got smacked into the step. there was just layers and layers of people screaming. >> people were just crushed and trampling each other, it was every man for themselves. >> reporter: on the platform, chaos, confusion. towards the back of the train, hushed passengers make their way

company as soon as their air conditioning system went down on sunday at the height of the storm. but repair crews never showed up, even though they say they spoke with the utility company at least four more times. nursing home officials also claim they made multiple calls to state agencies including the governor's office. tonight the governor's spokesman confirms those calls to an office emergency cell phone, but insists, "at no time did the facility report that conditions had become dangerous or that the health and safety of their patients was at risk." the home wasn't evacuated until wednesday morning, when a nurse from the hospital just steps away grew concerned after a series of 911 calls. >> it kind of set off a red flag that something might be going on in the building. >> reporter: eight residents died, nearly 150 evacuated. today we spoke with carmen veroy. her parents libia and gabriel, both residents of that nursing home. and both survived. but she is shaken. >> you can't let people die like this, like animals. >> reporter: police today, scouring that nursing home
