good evening. the death toll stands at 38 in the tornadoes that crashed in the midwest and south. there are fears that number will grow higher because of the wreckage and debris. the damage is so extensive. recovery and rebuilding may take years. we have the latest from louisiana where some suffers some of the worse damage. >> reporter: warnings came well before the twister. in henryville storm chasers had their cameras ready. there was no way to predict an ef 4. second post powerful
tornado on a scale of five with winds as fast as 175 miles per hour. >> we had a huge tornado come threw. >> reporter: it tossed around school buses like footballs. made buildings look like they were bombed. >> it takes you a second to look at it and feel what those people had to come threw. >> we want to encourage folks to come to our shelters, get a meal and a cup of coffee. sit down and take a rest. >> reporter: in west liberty, kentucky officials don't know who all is missing. >> i have my daughter and my grandchildren. he put his hands on us and saved us. >> reporter: a hundred of twist ers were a part of the system coming at the beginning of tornado season. the most remarkable story in

there. here's what's coming up tonight and tomorrow in our forecast. >> speaking of the tornadoes in the midwest. we were watching a little bit of the storm system get through here yesterday morning. 117 tornadoes. he was talking about, in that story, some of the snow now coming through parts of indiana and illinois. that's going to continue to move down with the quick system we are watching for tomorrow morning. we'll check in on that coming up in your complete forecast. in baltimore a few showers south. it was a clear and beautiful day out there. temperatures 44 degrees at inner harbor. 45 annapolis. down to d.c. 42. cooler air on the way. it doesn't look like we'll warm up until the end of the upcoming work week. this evening temperatures back in the 40s. we are dropping in the upper 20s tonight. we'll see temperatures bottom out around 29 degrees as we get into this evening. clouds will increase. still breezy.
that wind will die down tomorrow. tomorrow we'll have that forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> thank you very much. tonight harford county sheriff's office is looking for suspects in a multiple stabbing in edgewood. five men were stabbed during a fight before midnight on saturday. the men told deputies they were walking from a gas station when a group of men called out to them and started stabbing them. tonight all the men are in stable condition. a howard county police officer is recovering tonight after he was hit by a drunk driver. the officer had stopped at on route 29 around 11:30 friday night when his cruiser was rear ended by a kia. he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. driver of the car was not hurt. the other driver was arrested and charged with driving under
the influence. baltimore county police were called to the 4500 block of marble hall road in east baltimore. when officers arrived on the scene they found terrance shot several times in the chest. he had been at 7 -- 11 when shots were fired. there was a shooting in the 1,000 block of gay street. the march from 1965 took on a new meaning today. peaceful demonstrators marching for civil rights were attacked by police in bloody sunday. organizers took to the streets pick speaking out against voter i.d. laws that could disenfranchise five million voters. hundreds are expected to take part this week. at martin
luther king church. the cardinal celebrated mass with his baltimore family today. he talked about his leadership role in rome where he'll protect the holy place in the holy land. he talked about what is next for catholics in baltimore as the search for his replacement continues. >> i'm hoping and praying a new appointment comes soon so they can stop worrying and the ark bishop can get his own program in place. >> cardinal says he submitted names of three candidates to replace him. he says the pope will make the final decision. in democracy 2012, days ahead of super tuesday, voters in some states may be getting phone calls from a familiar voice. former first lady barbara bush recorded a call for mitt
romney. on the call she says she and her family have known romney for years and believe mitt is the best man to lead the country. former president bush announced his support for romney in december. mitt romney will be getting support from eric canter. this is the first house republican leader to make an endorsement so far. romney will go into super tuesday with another advantage. he'll pick up 40 delegates from saturday's republican caucuses in washington state. with 99% of the vote in romney had 28% of the vote. ron paul 25%. rick santorum 24%. if you wanted to be on the baseball fields and never had a chance to make it to the big leagues here's your chance. there was an open tryout to find ball boys and ball girls

to a cvs pharmacy and thought they were picking up flouride pills for children's teeth but bringing home tamoxifen, a powerful drug to fight breast cancer. >> it is similar to chemotherapy and it is more toxic than a flouride vitamin. >> reporter: the mixup went undetected for two months or longer. >> it is disheartening to see that happen. who knows what else they did wrong. >> reporter: cbs says we are deeply sorry for the mistake that occurred in our new jersey pharmacy. beginning last week we contacted or left messages for every family whose child was dispensed a flouride prescription within the past 60 days. most of families we have spoken to did not indicate their children received any incorrect pills. adding prescription errors are a rare occurrence.
it was a beautiful sunday out there today. there is a time lapse of the inner harbor in case you were about town. it was gorgeous outside. a few clouds. right now we are not seeing much going on on our sky cam. we weren't seeing a lot at the end of last week when we see showers and thunderstorms move in the area. we are calm now. maybe a few scattered snow showers for our friends in central and western maryland. however, it looks like that's not hitting our ground due to our dew points. it is dry out there. if you were reaching for chap stick today that's because our dew points are down. a lot of the radar will evaporate before it hits the surface. a snow shower is not out of the question. it looks like we could have a chance of that tomorrow as we
watch a clipper system out of the midwest. the areas saw the devastating tornadoes last week are getting piled with snow. we could see that tomorrow morning. mainly it looks like it will slip south. here's rain in southern maryland. that's going to move off the coast. we have been clear today in the city of baltimore. again, it was a beautiful day out there for those who had a chance to head outside and enjoy themselves. right now temperatures 44 degrees in the inner harbor. 45 annapolis. 42 d.c. 43 cambridge. we'll drop in the upper 20s tonight. that cool air is on its way. what's bringing cool air are the winds. they are northwest seeing sustained wind at 13 miles per hour in baltimore. 7 in northern pennsylvania. these winds will still be breezy for the first half of this evening. they are picking back up for the start of the work week. taking the kids out to the bus stop make sure they have their
