hamilton avenue with this overturned truck. this is what delays look like out by the prospect expressway. eastbound the bqe is shut down between hamilton avenue and atlantic avenue. this is really bad news for the morning commute. more weather and traffic on the 4s. >> thank you very much. we can't to get to breaking news. all delta airline flights are grounded thanks to a system wide outage. tracie strahan has been talking to frustrated newark. we've seen things happening locally and nationally. i never heard before of a system-wide global shutdown. >> really we're hear being this via social media right now. you said that's the update that delta is tweeting to passengers, asking them what's going on. they say it's a system outage nationwide. they are also saying they're working to resolve the issue. the problem with that, a lot of people we spoke with are not learn being it until they get to the airport. we'll show you a tweet that's

airline. they say our systems are down everywhere. hopefully it won't be much longer. now it has been a little while now. actually a couple hours. we have reached out to delta to see what is happening. it appears to be a computer outage. we watched people going to check in at the terminals and then the buffering circle. they didn't allow them to do so. that's caused lines here at newark liberty airport to grow throughout the morning. we even spo the delta app who said he didn't get a notification on that either. >> normally i log right in. now it's not logging in so quick. >> did you try to log in earlier? >> yeah. it will log n but it has no flight information. it will have no update on if it's late or anything like that it's usually good. >> every passenger nationwide just checking in on delta's computer terminal not able to do so.

you're hearing a lot of tweets from people who are saying they're frustrated, they're stuck on the tarmac right now as well as people just trying to make their flights. many of them set to take off in the next 20 minutes, 30 minutes. we'll go inside, check the status of things and bring you more in the next half hour. >> delta saying this is nationwide. i said globally earlier. they're saying nationwide. >> they're saying nationwide, heathrow airport and other airports saying they're experiencing the same thing. >> thank you very much. we're following breaking news from afghanistan. the kidnapping of an american professor. he was one of two teachers from american university of afghanistan who were taken. the other is australian. that school is closed and will remain so until the security threat is over. the two men were taken from their cars after they finished teaching evening classes.

take 3rd avenue to hamilton avenue. it's about a four mile delay heading into this area. heading over to other problems on the roads, on the car lanes and turnpike, there is an accident after exit 9 that blocks the left lane. head over to the truck lanes if you can. on the bruckner, watch out for a disabilitied vehicle out by helens point avenue. that's not causing much of an issue. move your car today. alternate side of the street parking rules are in effect. we'll have more weather and traffic on the 4s. friends and family held a benefit concert for a teen who lost his leg in an explosion in central park. 19-year-old conner golden made his first public appearance and thanked a crowd at a restaurant in his homestate of virginia. the family didn't allow cameras to record him. he was visiting central park for the fourth of july holiday when he stepped on a homemade explosive. his dad spoke about his strength

>> his strength and composure and positivity through this is just amazing to me. so he's helping me. he's helping me get through this as well. >> police are still investigating how that explosive ended up in central park. officials fear mexico's deadly mud slides will claim more victims. right now the death toll is 38. the slides were sparked by drenching rains from tropical storm earl. hillsides collapsed and buried homes. mexico's military is digging out homes and looking for anybody who may still b hundreds of firefighters are battling a fast-moving wildfire in southern california. these flames are from the pilot fire. it's burning in the san bernardino national forest. overnight that fire remained out of control. a number of evacuations are underway. no word on what sparked it. walt disney world is trying to make sure a recent tragedy is not repeated.
