the prosecution brought six more witnesses to the stand today. including emily fazzino's sister, brother in law and cousin -- testifying about the couple's rough relationship- involving police on different occassions including one week before emily's death. the prosecution also showed alex fazzino's hour long interview with d-c-i agents and police officers-where he consistently bringing up her pill addiction and their unhappy marriage. emilys brother in law jeff also described the night of emilys death. saying the first thing alex fazzino said to him was "i never touched her." jeff dighton, emily's brother-in-law, "i didn't know how to respond. we really couldn't believe what we were walking into, it was just police officers there, there were kids there saying 'mommy's gone, mommy's gone.' i didn't really know how to react." stephanie: today's testimony ended early so attorneys could debate whether or not emilys father, rick beckwith, is healthy enough to take the stand or even be in the court room.
5:01 pm
witnesses are set to testify tomorrow- including doctors. we'll have continuing coverage. stephanie: now even though emily died in boone county, the trial has been moved to winneshiek county, a change in venue because of how many people knew this family. emily fazzino's grandfather founded the fareway grocery store chain, her dad is the former c-e-o. local five's claire powell will be covering the trial for us in winneshiek county. look for a live report coming up on local five news at six. new tonight at five. stephanie/1 shot: former iowa governor chet culver is back in headlines. he's been holding town hall meetings and rallies against the decision to privatize iowa's medicaid. this is causing some speculation that he may be gearing up to run for office. local five's sabrina ahmed asked him about it today. chet culver, former iowa governor, "you being in the spotlight again about this, i just want to ask one more time, everyone is speculating, everyone thinks the reason you're doing this is because you're going to run for office again. i am doing this because i care passionately about the state of iowa. i'm not running

5:03 pm
everyone who has attacked me has gone down. marco rubio has been attacking trump -- something that won't likely stop on the debate stage: the front runner in this race has actually alluded to the fact that he thinks parts of obamacare are pretty good (boo) then there's ted cruz -- who has faced tough questions after failing to consolidate evangelical support in nevada and especially in south carolina. the texas senator thinks he's being treated unfairly. i'm curious how many reporters ask marco rubio after losing four states in a row, so when do you drop out? and he's not running -- but 2012 republican nominee mitt romney has thrown himself back into the discussion -- calling on donald trump to release his tax returns... suggesting there could be a bombshell in there. i think there's something there, either he's not anywhere near as wealthy as he says he is, or he hasn't been paying the kind of taxes we would expect him to pay. trump responded thursday morning in a tweet writing:
5:04 pm
and worst candidates in the history of republican politics, is now pushing me on tax returns. dope! if donald trump does release his tax returns it won't be anytime soon... he says he will make a decision over the next few months. independent weather experts" brad: today was another one of "those" days with gray skies and chilly winds, but a change is coming! sunnier and warmer weather is on its way! the clouds will likely stick around most of tonight, but those nw winds will be diminishing down to 5- 10 mph later tonight. while the clouds may still be around as we start friday, we should see plenty of afternoon sunshine and milder sw winds. both of these will help to warm us up into the mid 40s. even warmer weather will push in here for the weekend! sunny skies are expected all day saturday with highs reaching the low 60s in central iowa. saturday night will stay very mild with sw winds keeping us in the 40s overnight. that will set the stage for a mild sunday morning, but a cold front will be coming through before noon that will turn some cooler winds in from the northwest. it will be cloudier and windier in the afternoon, but temps should be staying in the 50s.monday is looking pretty nice too with sunshine and highs in the 50s. it is looking like march may come in like a lion because there will be a storm system coming our way on tuesday with a chance for rain/snow depending on the actual storm track. either way, next week will be getting colder, so be sure to enjoy the next four days! brad/wxhang
