big birthday for a montgomery county school. how one student celebrated 300 years of history in hatboro. we continue with the wind picking up in the tri-state area and the threat of snow into the weekend, sunday night. going outside and looking live at sky 6 hd at the jersey shore in atlantic city. it's cold out there and getting colder and snowier as we mentioned. meteorologist, melissa magee is outside of our studios with the latest. >> reporter: hi there rick, the wins are picking up this noon coming out of the northwest within you step outside extra layers are needed because the numbers keep on crashing as the afternoon wears on. temperatures outside 29 in the city and 26 in the poconos and 40 for millville and 42 in dover and to the north and west we go and 36 degrees as well in lancaster. check out the wind gusts gusting as high as 32 miles per hour in

philadelphia and 30 miles per hour wind gusts for reading and lancaster, and the winds are a factor and within you step outside for the rest of the afternoon, these numbers keep on crashing with the arctic boundary future tracker 6 showing you numbers in the 20s and 30s along the i-95 corridor and lower 20s to the teens north and west of town. if you step out temperatures will only be in the teens and the low 20s. so we'll talk about what is ahead. falling temperature as head for our friday and blustery winds of 40 and 50 miles per hour. there is a snow threat as we get into the second half of the weekend. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing you the beginning of this storm system the moisture is starting to gather along the desert southwest and the four corners and this links up with energy to the north and most likely becomes a storm system for sunday night into monday.

connection firefighters were called to the scene but they have not confirm that gas started the fire. authorities in western pennsylvania say they have solve aid cold case, police arrested 65-year-old lloyd groves yesterday at his home near pittsburgh prosecutors say grove killed his colleague turned lover kathleen heckle and her body is still missing the states attorney general took over in 203 and says there is a lot of evidence against groves including dna and groves did not have an alibi at the time of heckle's disappear an. former presidential hopeful, mitt romney will not make a run for the oval office in 2016, on a could have been call with supporters and donors romney said he would not seek the nomination he said did not want to get in the way of other

action radar there are the few flurries around most of the mid-atlantic region moving to the north and east and once the arctic boundary kicks on in the numbers continue to plunge as well. cooler in the evening and winds gusting out of the northwest high of 40 degrees in the city and tonight clearing and bitterly cold dropping to 11 here in philadelphia. we have a windchill advisory for the poconos, as you wake up tomorrow morning, in this location, it will feel like windchills are 20 degrees below 0. 6:00 this evening most locationses are in the teens and up to the poconos below 0, and most spots in the single digits and below 0. as you get into 11:00 in the morning ona chilly start to our weekend and not much of a recovery. temperatures are feeling like the single digits. we'll fast forward into the

second half of the weekend, we are tracking the storm system late saturday night into sunday the storm is currently over the desert southwest and the four corners and it will grab energy from the north and work its way eastward, it's looking less likely that this is a brush for our region. the question becomes how far to the north does this system track, if it tracks to the north there could be mixing and if it sets up to the south of area, you get the snow that picks up on the south side than could be a major storm system for the region and we'll track it for you tonight. it's windy today and temperatures falling throughout the day on much colder on saturday and 26 degrees, sunday clouds increase and a high temperature of 36 and monday we are tracking the snow that develops late sunday night into monday and cold behind that with a high temperature of 24 degrees, we'll have the latest with more models coming in with
