some sunshine on the way later on as the clouds are dispersing overnight. dry air in place but it is very, very raw outside right now. a temperature of 20 degrees in philadelphia. in allentown 13, trenton 16, 16 december in reading. and a bunch of 20's and 21's as we go down through delaware and south jersey and there is a wind blowing giving you wind chills making it feel like it's about eight in philadelphia and just 4 degrees up in allentown. and as you step outside of that door head down to the bus stop or to get in the car you really feel it in the face. so definitely extra layers if you're going to be outside this morning. and we do have an issue for the morning rush. you need to use caution because we have some patches of black ice around. parking lots drive ways sidewalks will be of special concern but karen rogers will be along in a moment keeping an eye on the road conditions as well because some roads could also have a bit that of problem. 20 degrees right now on your storm tracker 6 app. 19 degrees by 8 o'clock. and then 24 by noon. 29 by 3:00 that's about where

your high is going the wind up today and back to 27 at 6 o'clock. karen the winds are roaring through the region all day long at about eight to 16 miles per hour and of course with these cold air -- or cold temperatures it's giving you those wind chills all day. >> those wind chills are terrible but the winds did help dry out the roads. as we're looking live you definitely have to be watching for those slick spots but it's not as if we're seeing it completely covered out there because the winds helped dry the roads. 202 parkway at bristol road we see some slick spots but looks mostly dry. northeast extension between quakertown lehigh valley no problems this morning, no construction. both lanes opened both ways. of course this was shut down for a good portion of yesterday morning with that nasty accident with that jackknifed tractor-trailer. things are better today. we did have icy conditions in fairmount park. lincoln drive was shut down for awhile but it's reopened. they had water on the roadway creating icy conditions. now that's reopened. let's take one more live look. we're looking at the ben

franklin bridge, no problems, speed restrictions on most area bridges because of the wind. 45 miles an hour at the ben, though, matt and tam. >> okay, thank you karen. we've got this breaking news for you this morning. a man is fighting for his life after being shot inside a car in southwest philadelphia early this morning. the victim then drove himself a police station for help. annie mccormick picks up that story live at the scenism good morning, tam. that victim underwent surgery at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania early this morning. now, he arrived here to the twelfth district police station in that chevy malibu you can still see at the scene. you can see bullet holley holes on the driver's side and also on the rear driver's side window. what happened is just around 1:30 this morning a police sergeant entering any other 12th district saw that chevy malibu approaching the police station with no headlights on at a high rate of speed. the driver that of vehicle told the police sergeant that

he had just been shot. that police sergeant moved him into a police cruiser where he rushed him to the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. now, along the ride the police sergeant said that he tried to get as much information out of the victim that he could before that victim did lose consciousness. we do know that the victim was shot in the chest. we also know, of course, that there were also multiple shots fired on the vehicle as well. now, the victim told the police sergeant that the shooting happened nearby, only about a block away at 66th and paschal. they sent officers down that scene. they did find witness who said that they did see a shooting occur. they do not have any descriptions of a suspect but they were able to say that they saw a black dodge charger at the scene. now, that's all the information they have at this point. as you can see again here that they're still holding this scene waiting for a tow truck to come. you can see that there's crime scene tape all around the outside of this police station. again, that sergeant talking

to southwest detectives at this hour since the victim did lose consciousness and likely said was -- like we said was brought into surgery at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania. we're told that he's in critical condition. they do not know if he will make it. for now reporting live from southwest philadelphia, annie mccormick, channel6 "action news." >> thank you an north a delaware county road that was the scene of a deadly crash caused in part by wind is back opened this morning. police say high winds toppled a tree onto a car along sproul road in radnor last night. the driver was still able to swerve into the opposite lane but hit another vehicle head on. that first driver was killed. the person in the other vehicle was not hurt. the falling tree also took down electrical lines knocking out power to nearly 100 customers. a snowplow in massachusetts struck and killed a woman. it happened yesterday at a condominium complex in weymouth. officials say it was a private plow, not a municipal vehicle. 57-year-old cynthia levine

died at the scene. so far the plow driver has not been charged. >> this is new this morning, police in texas are searching for a killer after a pastor, his wife and their five-year-old son were found murdered. police say the three were beaten to death in their houston home. officers were called out yesterday by concerned church members after the pastor failed to show up for church on sunday. parishoners call this crime inconceivable. no arrests have been made. >> police are looking for two people who barged into the home of an elderly south jersey man and attacked him. it happened on west lincoln street in bridgeton late saturday night. two men forced open the back door of the home of the 94-year-old. the bandits threatened him with a knife and demanded money. they left the man lying on the floor with head injuries. police were not contacted until 12 hours later. >> i believe he was unable to make it to the telephone to notify anybody.

his son happened to check on him found -- and found his father inside the residence and his son was the one that contacted police. >> the man remains at cooper university hospital. >> a philadelphia police officer has been caught on the wrong side of the law. 28-year-old sergeant brandon ruff is charged with giving false i.d. to police. prosecutors say in august he used a fake name when he tried surrender three guns to the 35th district including a gun that was stolen. a struggle ensued and police say they found an additional loaded gun in ruff's waist band. ruff claims that he was injured during the struggle. he's suing the department. former pennsylvania treasurer rob mccord is facing federal charges. mccord faces two counts of extortion which could each carry a sentence of up to 20 years. according to court papers he'll plead guilty next month as part of a plea deal. authorities say mccord threatened potential donors from a law firm and property management firm during his failed run for governor. >> now the latest on the

measles out break and the growing debate over vaccinations. more than 100 people have contracted the contagious disease in the u.s. and mexico. while doctors and president obama are putting the pressure on all parents to have their children vaccinated. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live at the big board with more. erin. >> reporter: matt as you said there are now more than 100 cases in 14 different states as well as mexico and the subject of vaccinations has been a debate for quite some time but we are at a critical point in the measles outbreak. in california the epicenter of the outbreak a day care in santa monica closed after a child tested positive for the disease and there are now concerns in the northeast after a college student sick with the disease traveled on amtrak from busy penn station. there have also -- there has also been a reported case this week in central pennsylvania. of course, most doctors especially pediatricians have been urging parents to vaccinate their children arguing the benefits outweigh the risks and have add many of the reasons parents are choosing not to vaccinate have

not been scientifically proven. politicians are now becoming vocal on the issue. new jersey governor chris christie telling reporters he did choose to vaccinate his children but qualified that statement by saying parents should have a choice. >> it depends on what the vaccine is what the disease type is and all the rest. what i was saying is you have to have that balance. >> reporter: now the governor and potential 2016 presidential candidate later altered those statements a bit saying "there is no question kids should be vaccinated. "recently president obama called the science behind vaccinations" indisputable. however in 2008 it seems he was a little less of a staunch believer saying many people including himself was suspicious of a possible link between vaccinations and autism. guys, back to you. >> all right this debate heating up. it is 4:39 and still to come on "action news," warren sapp

>> ♪♪ >> new this morning, a boston tv news crew covering the snowstorm captured a hit and run. an atv skidded and slammed into the front of that suv in worcester. both men fall off the four-wheeler. they jump up, get back on and speed off. there's no word yet on if they've been found and arrested. no one, thankfully was inside the suv. >> so, david, we have about a dozen schools in the lehigh valley that are opening on a delay there on the bottom of your screen 6abc.com. due to probably the slippery conditions. >> yeah, black ice has formed overnight in some areas. i think the biggest issue is probably going to be sidewalks, parking lots, drive ways, things like that but on some streets we do have that chance this morning. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows that you there's no active precipitation however. and as we take a look outside

we are looking at center city on sky 6 and we are expecting plenty of sunshine but unfortunately that's not going to help much today. you're going to want to bundle up as you head outside. temperature right now in philadelphia is 20 degrees. your winds west-northwest at 12 and that is giving you wind chills in the single digits. in fact we're all dealing with winds right around the same speed. only six in allentown but 13 at the airport in ac, 13 in wilmington. so, wind chills in the single digits and you will feel that. satellite shows you lack of any real significant cloud cover. looks like there might be a little batch down by washington that might want to try to pull through the region during the morning but generally speaking we're looking at sunshine for the most part all the way today. 19 degrees by 8 o'clock though. and by 11 o'clock still only 22 so through the morning hours, we're going to be looking at wind chills in the single digits for the most part maybe getting up into the low double digits at some point toward the end of the morning. your high today is 29 degrees at 3 o'clock. this afternoon those wind chills will be a factor. high temperatures across the region little bit of a range. 32 degrees is your high in

cape may, 34 in ac. but up in allentown we're liable to only make it into the low 20's, same thing in reading, 28 in trenton. mostly sunny but a bit on the brisk and cold side and here are the wind chills. you see that many in the single digits this morning. as we get up to late morning up toward lunchtime we're in the teens and then low 20's by 3 o'clock. so, this is what the kids will be looking for as they come home from school this afternoon so you bundle them up early and let them know they'll want to put that extra gear on on the way home from school. evening commute wind chills down around 20 in philadelphia. not that the winds are going to be all that strong overall but we got cold air in place and just a little bit of wind gives you those wind chills. tomorrow it gets a little better as we have a warm front off to the north and a cold front to the west. that puts us in the warm sector of this system. 44 degrees is the high tomorrow. unfortunately by thursday, that front comes through and it will be colder again and in fact thursday morning there could be a couple snow showers around. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 29 is today's high. brisk and cold all the way.

tomorrow not as harsh with a high of 44 and then thursday it gets colder again with a high of 36 and again in the morning there is the possibility of a bit of a snow shower that could put down a coating or maybe even an inch our so in some areas. that's thursday morning mainly. and then friday brisk and cold 28 degrees. saturday not as harsh 38. then we get into the second half of the weekend and 36 is your high but there is a system that looks like it will bring us a wintry mix. looks like a clipper system versus a nor'easter. there's one models that wants to kind of form a coastal storm but we're not buying into that. so that would be one of these deals where maybe it's snowing at first and then raining for a bit and then snow, kind of like the one we just had. >> thanks, david. former nfl star warren sapp is out of a job now that he's facing charges of soliciting a prostitute and assaulting two women while arizona for the super bowl. police took the hall of famer into custody in phoenix early yesterday morning. a woman claims she and another woman were working as escorts and an argument over and in a

guest's room turned physical. police say sap admits to paying one of the women for sex but denies any assault. sap was in phoenix to cover the super bowl for the nfl network. the network promptly fired him. >> johnny manziel is headed to rehandle the browns quarterback entered treatment for an unspecified condition. manziel spokesman would only say the qb knows there are areas he needs to improve on to be a better family member and teammate. the browns offered their full support and respect for the player known as johnny football. >> taking a first look at business beyoncé has a new vegan mail delivery service called 22 days nutrition because some think it's it takes 21 days to break a bad habit. these meals are 100 percent plant based and gluten free delivered once a week and the prices per meal range from nine to $16. office supply store chain staples and office depot are in talks to merge this from the wall street journal. no officials details those are being released about that deal.

oil price rebound sent stocks soaring on wall street on monday. right now futures look like they are pointing to a higher open. when you get a big mac it's often about the special sauce and mcdonald's is reportedly thinking of selling bottles of these -- the top-secret big mac special sauce s it would only be 200 bottles mostly in australia but at least one of the bottles would be on e bane the bidding nor one is starting after $18,000. >> two all beef patties special sauce lettuce cheese pickles onions on a sesame seed bun. its family of bobbi kristina speaks out as the 21-year-old continues to fight for her life. >> a man who is getting a helping hand thanks to a college student.

looking lincoln drive reopened. they've taken care of that and things are moving better. center city we're hearing about icy conditions on eighth and vine so you need to be careful in area as well. a downed traffic signal off to the side here in lawrence township mers sers county route 1 northbound at whitehead road and one more issue, it's just construction here that's in camden on 168 both ways between collings avenue and nicholson road. i think the big thing today matt would be watching out for slick spots with these temperatures everything froze so quickly. >> we will. thank you karen. whitney route ton's daughter bobbi kristina brown still fighting for her life in a georgia hospital. the 21-year-old is on life support and a source close to the family sales her condition looks bleak. an incident report released by police says officers responded to a call about a drowning at brown's atlanta area home on saturday. they found her face down in the bathtub rushed her to the hospital. the family issued a statement saying brown is surrounded by immediate family who all request privacy. whitney houston, her mom, was

found dead in a hotel bathtub in 2012. a former swimmer at stanford university pleaded not guilty top sexually assaulting a woman on campus. 19-year-old brock turner faces five felony sexual assault charges. police arrested him last month after being caught on top of an unconscious and half naked woman outside a fraternity party and tried to run away but two men riding bikes were able to capture him. turner has since dropped out of stanford and is banned from campus. >> the story of a detroit man who walked walks 21 miles a day to and from work has gone viral now he's getting help. james robertson calls his full-time job at a factory a labor of love. throughout it all he's never missed a day of work. >> i was told once in order to get something you got to go through something, you know, and this is what i'm going through, you know. but i do go through it with a smile on my face. >> a coworker saw robertson walking one day and gave him a ride. they now carpool. the detroit free press reported on robertson's daily

>> ♪♪ >> welcome back. you're taking a live look here sky 6 hd looking down the shore into atlantic city. the lights are bright and cheery but boy, is it cold when you step outside. 4:57 right now and 21 degrees. police in north dakota have called a foul on a zamboni driver accused of driving under the influence. they say steven anderson was arrested after displaying erratic behavior while operating the zamboni at a high school hockey game in fargo on friday. spectators say he was seen weaving and bumping into boards other rink. no one was hurt and nothing was damaged. anderson was booked on suspicion of dui. >> a barrel of bourbon on its way from kentucky to washington, d.c. and the hope is it will allow president obama and congressional republicans to share some common ground. the bourbon is going to a hotel as a tribute to henry clay. he was a 19th century kentucky congressman known as the great
