from our area is shot and killed in the line of duty. katherine scott tells us how he is being remembered in delaware county. now the details on a developing story we've been following all morning. a 4-month-old baby was found safe after someone stole a minivan with the infant inside. the theft happened on the 4800 block of walnut street in west philadelphia outside a food market. the infant was left on the street in germantown and taken to the hospital to be checked out. the baby is okay and the child's mother and father were seen leaving the hospital with the baby late this morning. about 30 minutes went by from the time the theft was reported until the time the baby was found. the white town and country minivan that was taken the suspect has not been located. it has a pennsylvania registration beginning with the letters jmx. anyone with information call philadelphia police. police charged a delaware

county man for a stabbing attack that left 24-year-old man dead in resulten house square. it started with a fight over a hat. vernon odem is live at police headquarters with the latest. vern? >> reporter: that's right, sarah, police say the dispute may have started because the victim was wearing a new jersey devils cap on the street overnight into sunday morning. the suspect was described as a 40-year-old military veteran. this is the veteran under arrest and charged with murder. the killing tombs -- took place at rittenhouse square. charles was stabbed

to death. a witness tried to save him and put pressure on the stab wound. i've always felt it was safe here. something so tragic and random happening right outside your house. the suspect's address is of media, delaware county. they say he is a military veteran. but recently he was listed as homeless. police will hold a briefing in a half-hour on the rittenhouse murder. vernon odem channel 6 "action news." turning to the forecast we're dealing with a dreary monday. heavy rain continues to fall and it fell this morning and lighter showers are continuing outside as we taking a live look sky6 live hd at a dreary center city

tracker 6 live radar and follow all the members of the "action news" weather team on facebook and twitter. family, friends and colleagues are paying their final respects to a new jersey state trooper who lost his life in the line of duty. a viewing was was held at saint charles borromeo church in cinnaminson for trooper sean cullen who died last week at a traffic accident on 295 in west deptford. a maryland police officer and delaware county native was shot and killed when a gunman opened fire outside a police station. officials say the ambush was unprovoked and the suspect was shot. katherine scott was at chichester high school this morning where people are remembering jacai coleson. >> reporter: officer jacai colson was born in boothwyn. he played football at chichester high school. people who knew him said he feels a great kid and can't believe he is gone. long before he was an undercover

narcotics officer for prince george county police, he was the quart are back and class officer and member of the basketball squad. the chichester president said she knew him for 3 years. he was the quarterback, he was the camp counselor. >> reporter: he graduated in 2005 and went on to randolph college before becoming a police officer. authorities say yesterday afternoon in an unprovoked attack a suspect opened fire on a police officer. the police officer was jacai colson. the police officers fired bark, the suspect was wounded. another arrested moments later.

jacai colson died at the hospital. it punches you in the stomach. >> reporter: the chichester principal knew him as a students and was talking about a bright student and bright smile. he had a huge smile, the biggest smile. whatever you saw him, he would smile. >> reporter: his family was given a police escort to maryland last night. fell alum have been reaching out since the news broke. jacai was a student and leader as an adult. he will be missed by the entire chichester community. >> reporter: the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation. in boothwyn, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." two people were forced from their north philadelphia homes overnight a because of a fast-moving fire. this was the scene on the 300 block of west somerset street. fire officials say the blaze

started at the back of the house and spread to the home next-door. the fire is under investigation. in southwest philadelphia a driver lost control and slammed into a business last night. it happened along the 1100 block of cobbs creek parkway. the car went into the business and the driver had to be cut out of the vehicle. that person was taken to the hospital for treatment. amtrak officials are trying to figure out what went wrong after a cross-country train derailed in kansas early this morning. the train jumped the tracks tipping over. rescue crews say 29 people were injured. >> reporter: the ntsb is investigating the latest train derailment in rural kansas where local teams have been the first on the scene. upon arrival we found amtrak had overturned 2 1/2 miles west of cimeron. train derailment unknown

the artist was experimenting and fluctuating between styles. he never dresses the war as a subject in his alter, you never see depictions of soldiers or violence. >> reporter: pieces include oil paintings and water colors and photographs anne ballet costumes also he designed. people thought the costumes were crazy, but they give you a sense how radical his cubism was. >> reporter: the exhibit showcases his daring classical pieces like seated woman and woman in white. he creates these very elegant female bodies that are at the same time kind of lumbering and almost grotesque with these paw-like hands. i hope the visitors see there are so many different sides to picasso he is an artist you can't put into a box. he is on display until may 9. go to the arts in philly.org or
