weapons and combat gear in new jersey. a water main break is still affecting several businesses after it flooded a local firehouse. the big story on "action news" at noon is the beginning of the federal corruption trial for veteran pennsylvania congressman chaka fattah. the 59-year-old stopped to peek with "action news" as he walked into the courthouse in philadelphia this morning. katherine scott is live with more on that, plus the opening statements from both sides, katherine? >> reporter: rick, the day started with the judge addressing a jury telling them a little bit about the process and the rules of the courtroom and then the opening statements began. the prosecution was up first and then came the defense statements. they are going on right now upstairs. there are five defendants in the case including the 11 term congressman. this morning our cameras were there when congressman chaka fattah arrived at federal court. he and four associates, robert brand and former staff member

karen nicholas are on trial. there are number of charges including racketeering, wire fraud and moneyaundering. fattah surrounded himself with loyal supporters who gladly committed the crimes with him and rewarded for it. he outlined several schemes lone repayment and another to pay off his son's college debts. his lawyer tells the jury the government's case is based on on the testimony of the two former campaign aids who did the stealing and the fraud. they entered guilty pleas and want leniency from the judge. he spoke briefly on the way in

his possession. he faces multiple criminal charges for posing weapons. possible charges are pending for a second man detained at the scene. a former university of pennsylvania professor who killed his wife will remain behind bars. he killed his wife inside their king of prussia home in 2006. the montgomery district tone said he will serve his ten years sentence and will face ten years supervised probation once he is released next year. grief counselors were at the bridgeton high school after two students were killed in a car crash. they hit a tree on route 49 hour after their prom. daisia sulton was killed along with mikayla mosley. funeral services were held

saturday for another student from the school who was killed last week in a crash. a haddon township man accused of killing his 3-year-old son is due back in court. a hearing is scheduled tore 1:30 a.m. he is charged in the murder of his son brandon. the boy died of homicidal violence, but they have not determined an exact cause of death. a broken water main is causing problems after it caused flooding inside a local firehouse. five feet of water flowed into the basement of engine 5. the 12-inch main ruptured under market street causing the road to buckle. we're told there was no damage to any fire fighting equipment, however a nearby dialysis center will be without water and other businesses, while they make

repairs. temperatures are on the cool side. later tonight things could get down right chilly. sky6 live hd looking at the commodor barry bridge. breezy and sunny. no rain in the forecast, but you may need a jacket or coat as you head out. meteorologist david murphy is outside. you have on a coat. >> reporter: absolutely, lots of sunshine around this noon, don't be fooled by it, we have cool conditions and blustery wind blowing. take a look at satellite, you can see how the cloud cover has stayed away from us today. we have a few fair weather cumulus clouds around, but it's bright from start to finish. it was chilly in millville. we got to one degree above freezing that was a new record low, the old one, 36. in allentown, we tied the record at 37. trenton set a record 40 degrees and philadelphia missed by 2 degrees, wilmington only a degree off the record. as we look at temperatures now,

we bounce a bit obviously, but not that far, 56 degrees in philadelphia. pretty cool. 55 in allentown. 56 in trenton. 57 in wilmington, and 55 in cape may. to go along with the cool temperatures as i mentioned there's a stiff breeze blowing 23 miles per hour these are sustained winds we've seen gusts up in the mid 20s and up close to 30 in spots this morning. that wind isn't going anywhere the rest of the afternoon. it will stay chilly and breezy. today's high, 65. we'll have to wait until 5:00 p.m. to get there. even then it will be about 9 degrees below the average high of 74. tonight's low of 51 a tad below average not as bad as the last overnight though. we're look at a cloud-up tomorrow and damp showers moving at times tomorrow and the first part of wednesday. i'll have the details on that. things get better in the week, guys, but it will be later in the week, not earlier in the

week. turning to the campaign trail, the democrats are focused on kentucky and oregon ahead of the primary in both states tomorrow. meanwhile, trump is fighting back about new claims about his conduct with women and his tax returns. kenneth moten reports from washington. >> reporter: tomorrow could be a big day for hillary clinton as she gets closer to clinching the democratic nomination. she has her sites on donald trump who is being attacked from all sides. trump off the campaign trail, the hits keep coming from the presumptive democratic nominee. this is talk of a loose cannon. trump under fire for not releasing his tax returns. abc news investigation learned the billionaire has been the master of tax loopholes for decades paying as little as possible. under scrutiny his relationships with women. i respect women. >> reporter: trump was the focus of a new york times investigation.

a woman is expected to be okay after a small shark bit her and refused to let go. witnesses say the 23-year-old appeared calm as she walked out of the ocean with the shark clinging to her arm in florida. when paramedics arrived the shark had died but maintained its grip even after recovering in the hospital. federal investigators are in south texas working to determine what caused a charter bus to crash. 8 people were killed and 44 others injured. the small company that operates the bus was cited in the past year. last year state inspectors ordered the company to take the bus out of service to fix brake

problems. they have not said if that was the same bulls involved in the crash -- bus involved in the crash. sman samantha broberg was reported missing from the carnival cruise ship. probability of survival of nearly 120 hours that's assuming that somebody is in a life jacket and floating and healthy at the time they enter the the water. she was not wearing a life jacket. the coast guard scoured 4300 square miles before calling off the search mission late last night. prosecutors continue to argue their case against one of the baltimore police officers charged in the death of freddie gray. officer nero was charged with assault and misconduct.

gray died after he was arrested and injured in a police van. another officer may testify against nero today. the defense is expected to make its case tomorrow. the philadelphia police officer who died protecting innocent victims was honored by the president today. sergeant wilson iii was posthumously awarded the national medal of valor at the white house. his grandmother accepted the award. wilson confronted two armed thieves at a game stop march of last year. he was shot and killed in the ensuing gun battle. 12 other officers seervegd the award during the ceremony today. thousands of friends and family packed into university city for the graduation ceremony including vice president joe biden who was there for his granddaughter. and tony and grammy award winner gave the commencement address, he created hamilton the hip hop

verizon and union officials return to the bargaining table

this week. nearly 40,000 land line and cable workers have been on strike since april 13. they are accusing verizon of outsourcing jobs. verizon said they need healthcare to help manage costs. they start negotiations tomorrow. self driving cars may cause more traffic congestion. researchers say the number of miles driven will skyrocket when the technology becomes available in the next decade. they protect the vehicles willt. officials want volunteers to collect mosquito eggs in their community and upload the data to an online map.

with fairly chilly air at it is pretty windy out there, too. it's definitely a day for jackets even though when you look outside the window there's all that sunshine. temperature, 56 degrees, pressure is well above 30 inches. the wind are west/northwest at 23 miles per hour gusting higher than that every now and then. 55 degrees currently in allentown. 59. up close to 60 in reading. a lot of numbers in the 50s. we'll get in the 60s, but we'll have to wait until late this afternoon before we hit our highs. generally speaking it's going to be a chilly one today. as we look at cloudy cover, not a lot just fair weather cumulus here and there, the kind that's so saturdayed -- scattered it doesn't show up on the satellite view. up in the lehigh valley, sunny and breezy, cool, 65 degrees. down the shore, mostly sunny, also on the breezy and chilly side. 62 degrees is the high there. in philadelphia, high of 65.

probably reach that around 5:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m. breezy lots of sun and winds out of the west running 12 to 250 miles per hour with higher gusts. for the evening commute, i know some of you had the car heater on this morning thorch -- this afternoon you won't need that as much, but it will be on the cool side. there's the high at 5:00 p.m., slipping to 64 at 7:00 p.m. if you have tickets to the phillies it is dry and good looking, a few clouds and blue skies, breezy. one of the nights you have the jacket on as you head in or maybe the sweatshirt and you're bringing the jacket for later in the game. we start out at 64 and end up at 56. increasing clouds overnight tonight, cool and dipping to 51 for the overnight low. tomorrow we start out with clouds, enjoy the sunshine while you've got today. as we get up to noon there could
