>> good morning, it is friday, june 17. matt o'donnell is off, erin o'hern is joining us. >> we're following breaking news, a hit-and-run sends two teens to the hospital overnight. philadelphia police are talking to the driver. authorities are trying to learn more about the orlando massacre gunman as the president grieves with the victims' families. let's head over to david murphy we had good rain yesterday, we wonder what it's like today. and matt pellman has task.

>> reporter: we have rain in southern delaware and cape may county. that's lighted in yellow, this is more in yellow and red in dover, delaware, it is pushing toward the east. over the next few hours we'll be dealing with the shower activity down south. this precipitation is expected to stay where it is as it creeps toward the east. there's the wide view on satellite. we had severe weather boxes out to the southwest with tornado watches posted. thoughts are off the board. we are looking at the thinning of the cloud cover north and west, we expected to start out with gray and end up with sunshine. 65 in trenton and 62 in cape may. rolling through the day, 65 degrees this morning if you're not getting rained on down south it's a good morning to get your workout in. 65 degrees there. 79 degrees by noon. 82 degrees by 3:00 p.m.

that's the high today. 78 degrees by 6:00 p.m. notice how we do break out into a lot of sunshine probably as soon as midday and we'll be fairly bright through the afternoon. we'll have the weekend call coming up, it's all good. >> reporter: that's good. the traffic is not good so far on this friday morning. there's a crash involving an overturned vehicle on woodhaven road in northeast philadelphia. you can see the eastbound lanes are blocked. all eastbound traffic being forced off on to route 13 bristol pike. if you're trying to get to i-95 you're not getting flue coming away from frank lin mills, all lanes are blocked. if i was trying to get to i-95 do it by street road instead of woodhaven road. there was a crash on i-95 northbound side by the walt whitman bridge. that has cleared out of the way. no issues on the boulevard or the schuylkill expressway. but, of course, the vine street

expressway by the schuylkill is closed for overnight construction, should be reopening in the next half-hour. we're watching a crash early this morning on the pennsylvania turnpike, westbound past norristown, delays are not too bad. we'll be keeping tabs on that. fairmont, broad street is blocked off at spring garden because of an accident involving pedestrians, stick with the numbered streets instead. tam, i know you have details of what's going on here. two teenagers rushed to the hospital after a driver hit the bike they were riding on and took off. philadelphia police caught up with the driver a short time later. let's get out to katherine scott in spring garden where the striking vehicle was found. she has all the latest details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the two teenagers were sharing a bike when they were struck by a car, one of the teenagers is in critical condition, the other in stable condition. you can see north broad street

is shut down an accident investigator -- [inaudible] point of impact. this happened just before 2:00 a.m., police say five or six teen boys were riding their bikes on the 600 block of north broad and spring garden. the two 16-year-old victims were on the same bike going on southbound in the northbound lane when they were struck by a red sports car. one teen suffered head trauma and the second teen broke his leg and is stable. police say the driver was intoxicated he was taken to 8th and race to get a breath-alyzer. the car was found on ridge near wallace. police say the 25-year-old passenger appeared to be

intoxicated. she was taken in as a witness. >> thank you for that report. happening today memorial services will be held for christina grimmie. the bugged pop star south jersey native was gunned down in florida last week. annie mccormick is live in medford where friends and family will gather to remember her. >> reporter: yes, she grew up in marlton, new jersey, not far from here. later on today there will be a viewing and memorial service in medford at the fellowship alliance chapel. it begins at 3:00 p.m. and friends and family are expected to attend. take a look at the individual of the beautiful girl that ended in a tragic way. 22-year-old christina grimmie was shot and killed signing autographs after a performance in orlando, her brother marcus

tackled the shooter, kevin loibl. it is suspected he may have been an obsessed fan. christina grimmie attended cherokee high school. she was discovered after her youtube videos and was on the voice. after that her career took off. she opened for big acts, winning awards and touring across the country. loved ones say heaven has gained an angel for their choir. adam lavine the famous pop circumstance who worked with christina grimmie on the voice is paying for the funeral services. the viewing begins at 3:00 p.m. the memorial at 8:00 p.m. at the church in medford, only for friends and family. reporting live from medford, channel 6 "action news." >> christina grimmie was killed in florida the day before the

orlando massacre. yesterday president obama and vice president joe biden met with victims families. they said it will take more than than -- omar mateen is investigating whether he was texting his wife during the shooting. that wife is the subject of a garage investigation, a gun shop owner in philadelphia is saying he turned omar mateen away five weeks before the rampage when he tried to buy body armor and found rounds ever amunition. he called police but did not have a name to give north. new castle county police charged a teenager for assault, maera bey was hit by a cinder block. she said the whole thing started as a fight over presidential

fleet of aircraft are battling a growing wildfire in southern california. about 140 homes are at risk depending on which way the winds blows. the fire started wednesday afternoon. high winds caused it to spread through the coastal canyons of west santa barber. >> i guess this is the season. >> reporter: today we have rain down south. that's not going to be there that much longer. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows it to you.

we have showers, but we're not seeing any lightning. that area of precipitation with bright red might develop a little bit of a thunder boom a little later. you can see how it's all creeping across the from the west and pushingrd toward the southeast kind of sitting in place right now, but we do expect this to start to evaporate and start to dry up over the next several hours, homefully by the time we -- hopefully by the time we get to the end of the rush hour we'll see things dry out in smyrna and sea isle city. everybody's not looking at anything out there. even though we're starting out with cloud cover, we are expecting the return of sunshine today and by lunchtime ink most of us will be looking at mainly sunny skies. as we look outside, we have cloudy skies in philadelphia and hoping for the sun to return to the situation not too much

the wrong play. new, authorities in houston say a 3-year-old was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest yesterday afternoon. he later died. officials are not sure why the boy was left in the car. homicide detectives investigating. meat love was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on stage during the concert. video shows meat loaf dropping his microphone and falling to the floor. his condition this morning has not been released. the singer who was born marvin lee a day suffers from asthma and irregular heartbeat. video shows a liquor store 0 owner fighting back against a would be thief in massachusetts.

what's going on. the beverage tax was not the only thing city council approved. i passed a bill focusing on fire escape safety. all fire escapes will have be inspected every five years. the first of the inspections have to happen by next july. the bill was brought forward with the help of friends and family albert sue when the fire escape on the side of his apartment building collapsed. mayor jim kenny is expected to sign the bill. thousands of casino workers in atlantic city say they will be walking off the job on july 1 if a new contract is not reached by the end of the month. local 54 voted yesterday to picket against bally's, harrah's and the trop. the casino said they are committed to a fair contract. stock close moderately

>> one person was injured in a house fire in overbrook section after putting out the fire on the 1600 block of north 62nd street. firefighters found a 64-year-old man with second degree burns to his arms, leg and held. no word on the cause. we have an update to the story we told you about yesterday morning, the suv used by a family to transport a child with cerebral palsy used to transport doctors appointments, has been found. detectives are searching for the person who stole it. new on "action news," a lehigh valley high school senior didn't let a hospital stay keep him from graduation, he was hiking bucks county last friday when he fell 08 feet.
