the a while, the work on the admiral wilson boulevard eastbound and 38 eastbound in pennsauken. multiple lanes blocked through next friday morning, you can expect delays traveling eastbound once again this morning. if you're heading down the shore early watch out for a crash on the ac expressway at williams town, looks like you'll get around that on this friday morning. >> let's go back to the breaking news with katherine. philadelphia police on the scene of another hit-and-run. police say the driver accused of hitting the two teens on a bike tried to get away kept driving. they have the person in custody. one teenager is fighting for his life. "action news" reporter, katherine scott is live in spring garden on north broad and wallace streets. she has the details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the 34-year-old driver is in custody, appears he was

intoxicated and was taken for a breath breathalyzer. one teenager is in critical condition, the other in stable condition. north broad has reopened to traffic. it has been closed for police investigation. this happened before 2:00 a.m. in spring garden. police say five or six teens were riding their bikes on the 600 block of north broad. two victims were going southbound in the northbound lane when they were struck by a red sports car. the car was speeding, after hitting the teens it fled. their friends were not hurt. when the police arrived 2, 16-year-olds were lying in the street. one has serious head trauma, the second teen broke his leg. and medics took them to the hospital, the police spent hours investigating the impact.

the front tire was torn from the bike, that front tire landed 50 feet north of the impact. >> reporter: minutes after this crash, 6th district officers located the vehicle and the driver right around the corner on ridge near wallace, police believe the driver was intoxicated and taken to get a breathalyzer. the vehicle had front end damage. there are surveillance cameras in the area, police say they will pull footage to help with the investigation. we're live in spring garden, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank four that. also developing overnight, smoke bellowed from this apartment building in chester county overnight. fire officials say the blaze broke out after midnight on the 200 block of west chestnut street in west chester. there were early reports of people being trapped inside. officials have not said anything about injuries or what might have sparked the fire. >> chester residents had a

chance to voice their concern about the police department at widener university last night. it comes as part of a federal review and go officer-involved shootings and police policy and crime analysis, they were greeted with a near-empty auditorium. those who did show up shared their frustrations. >> a lot of residents are stereo typed because of where they live, feeling like a criminal when you call the police department. >> it all comes down to, and this process that we're trying to help the department and the community pull together to build trust. >> the doj will get input from officers and present a report on what can be improved. >> the jury deciding the fate of chaka fattah will continue deliberations today after the judge abruptly sent the jury home without explanation.

prosecutors say fattah stole from taxpayers and charities to pay off political debts. fattah is arguing that the justice department has been on witch hunt against his family. >> on to politics, hillary is working to decide who to choose for her running mate there's one name not on her list that's bernie sanders. >> he may have shown why last night. the presumptive democratic nominee is not considering him as a vp. person person said he looks -- bernie sanders said he looks forward to working with clinton and working with the party but stopped short of endorsing her. donald trump celebrated the one year an ears of his campaign in dallas. he touted victories in the primary state but said the general election will be tougher because of what he called the

dishonest press. he said i didn't love the press during the primaries, but now it's brutal. the odds may be stacked against the house now that atlantic city casino workers have authorized a strike. maribel aber is live in time square at the nasdaq, happy friday. >> reporter: workers have voted to strike over the weekend. 6,000 workers include cocktail servers and cooks own housekeepers. they okayed the strike if they don't receive a fair contract. the group includes union workers at ballies harrah's and the tropicana. futures are pointing to a lower open. we have reports on housing starts out later today. and spending on father's day is expected to reach 14.$3 billion will be spent on dads according to the national retail

you might want to use the ramps at 12th street instead. >> walt disney world resort said they will be adding alligator warning signs following the death of a 2-year-old. lane graves was playing in shallow water when i disappeared. an autopsy showed he suffered traumatic injuries and drown. the parents released a statement saying they are devastated by the loss of their son. disney is the parent company of 6abc. police officials with rutgers university promise to use more caution after a test of the emergency alert caused campus wide panic. students received a text message urging them to seek shelter due to an armed suspect. there was no threat, it was a test. the university sent out an e-mail the day before, but not everybody read it in time. police sent a second message that read end of training

details on what happened there in just a few minutes. there's a crash in souderton broad and north school lane, action karate. if you're heading to the shore for national flip flop day, good news the accident at williams down on the ac expressway is gone. everything is ready and open for you on this friday morning. >> let's back to katherine scott, it is our breaking news, a sports car driver hit two teens and sped away. he didn't get very far. katherine scott is live at the scene of the hit-and-run crash on broad street. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the two teenagers were riding the same bike when they were struck by the car in front of their friends, one teenager is in critical condition, the other stable.

you can see that broad street has been reopened to traffic. it opened just before 6:00 a.m. it had been closed for hours for the police investigation. there were evidence markers scattered all over the street. five or six teen boys were riding their bikes on the 600 block of north broad and spring garden. the two 16-year-old victims were on the same bike going southbound in the northbound lane. they were struck by a red sports car. the impact was so fear the front tire of the bike was thrown 50 feet from the point of impact. one teen suffered serious head trauma in critical condition. the second teen broke his leg and is stable. medics took them to had had han. minutes later the car was located and so was the driver. >> the driver was with the vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated and had a strong

odor of alcohol coming from his person. he was transported to 8th and raise where he will get a breathalyzer. >> reporter: the 6th district officers located his vehicle on ridge bile wallace near the -- by wallace near the crash site. they brought the witnesses over to the vehicle and positively identified the driver and the vehicle. there was a 25-year-old passenger inside the car who appeared to be intoxicated. she was taken by police to be interviewed. katherine scott channel 6 "action news". in delaware, a juvenile faces charges for an attack on a 13-year-old girl, maera bey said children surrounded her and threw a cinder block at her face. police say it's an active investigation. >> happening today, memorial

service will be held for christina grimmie. the budding pop star and south jersey native was gunned down after a show in florida last weekend. "action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live in medford where friends and family will gather to remember her. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, erin, christina grimmie grew up in marlton, new jersey, her services will be held in medford at fellowship reliance chapel later today. it was under a week ago 22-year-old christina grimmie was shot and killed while signing autographs following a performance in orlando. her brother marcus tackled the shooter who police identified as 27-year-old kevin loibl. during the struggle the shooter killed himself. christina grimmie did not know him but suspect he may have been an obsessed fan. these photos were taken during a short meet and greet. christina grimmie attended

cherokee high school she was discovered after posting youtube videos of her singing and she shot to fame after winning third place on the voice. after that her career took off. loved ones say heaven has gained another angel for their choir. since her death, fans have continued to remember her. at a vigil this week, her brother who she called her beth friend broke his silence. >> she loved the talent of the state, she loved singing she loved the lord and she loved me, she was my baby sister. >> reporter: and christina's brother wrote on his facebook page earlier this week a rock star adam lavine who work we are on the voice offered to pay for funeral services for the family, the nightclub she did perform at last week opened yesterday. report be live in instead ford, new

ford -- medford, new jersey, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> christina grimmie was killed the day before the orlando massacre. president obama and vice president biden met with victims' families yesterday. the president said it will take more than the military to prevent terrorists attacks. as for the killer omar mateen the fbi is investigating whether he was texting his wife did youg the the shooting. salman is the subject of a grand jury investigation. a gun shop owner said he turn away omar mateen when he tried to buy body armor and amunition. he had no name to give authorities. our city follows the lead of the town of berkeley california who passed a sugary tax back in 2014. city council approved the tax yesterday. mayor jim kenny persuade the

isle city, now there's breaks in the rain in cape cape may countd around dover, you can see the dover air force base field. as the rain is beginning to break up. the showers thinning out and continuing to push south. over the next couple of hours we'll see them go so long. many are dealing with cloudier cover, this morning, but that will break up and we'll transition to sun later on today. as we look outside we have sky6 live hd there's center city looking overcast overhead. sun is getting in every now and then in between the clouds. as you take a look at satellite, you can see the cloud cover is continuing to diminish to our north and continue to fall apart as we go through the morning hours. by noon we could actually see full sunshine in spots. 67 degrees by 8:00 a.m. i'll allow for cloud cover and sunny breaks. 10:00 a.m., more sun starting to break in, 76 degrees. noon, full sun is possible, 79.

pellman. today has not been that bad on the roads. >> reporter: it started out busy it's mainly volume and oh, yes, construction we're watching once again tam and erin in pennsauken. what a mess, this is has been the bain of our existence this week the emergency work going on admiral wilson boulevard and 38 eastbound multiple lanes block all week causing big delays during the rush hour. here's the bad news, they are saying the work on 38 is going to continue through next friday morning. we have another week of this people, yea! would you want for the delays forming once again this morning. new paving project getting underway on 70 in south jersey. everywhere you turn you're hitting roadwork. bridge inspectors are expected to come out along the mlk drive
