it is now 4:30 on this november 9th. the morning after and what a morning it has been. it wasn't until just before 3 a.m. that we actually saw and heard from republican donald trump declaring victory. >> as we mentioned democrat hillary clinton called trump to concede the election right before his victory speech which came at 2:50. here's how the electoral college breaks down with a few states still unclear, so these numbers could go up. 278 for trump 218 clinton. you need 270 to win the white house. a the loot lott being sorted out so let's go over to katherine scott. she's covering the breaking results for us from the satellite center. good morning. >> reporter: good morning tam and matt. there were a lot of thank yous from donald trump on that stage overnight just a few hours ago. his message in his victory speech was one of unifying the country. he said the work on his movement is really only beginning. let's go to video from overnight in new york city. his family was by his side throughout his campaign and they were right there next to him on the stage overnight in

new york city as he walked out shortly before 3 a.m. he shook hands with mike pence who will be the new vice president. trump told the crowd that he received a call from hillary clinton congratulating him on his campaign. he in turn said he congratulated her and her family on a very hard fought campaign and thanked her for her service to the country. in his victory speech he said it was time for the country to "bind the wounds of division." he pledged to be a president for all americans. he even addressed those who did not support him. he said he was reaching tout them for guidance and help so they can work together to unify the country. he spoke of an economic plan which will double growth. >> we will embark upon a project of national growth and renewal. i will harness the creative talents of our people and we will call upon the best and brightest to leverage their tremendous talent for the benefit of all. it's going to happen. [cheers and applause] >> reporter: it was a stark difference over at clinton

campaign headquarters at the javitz center in new york city. hillary clinton did not take the page seventy five speech but her campaign chairman john podesta did. campaign pointed to the glass ceiling and said last night was a night they would shatter it but instead everyone left in shock. >> everybody should just head home. you should get some sleep. we'll have more to say tomorrow. >> reporter: overnight house speaker paul ryan released a statement congratulating trump on the victory. he said they're eager to work hand in hand to push this country forward. meanwhile hillary clinton is expected to speak later on today. we're live from the satellite center katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> thanks so much katherine. we'll carry that hillary clinton speech when it comes in. we'll have some local election results coming up. >> but first up let's get you a sense of what you can expect in your accuweather and in your commute this morning. we've got meteorologist, david murphy and karen rogers with the commute. good morning. >> well, good morning

everyone. as expected we do have some showers that are beginning to build in from the west. berks county and lancaster county primarily picking up the stuff but the western edge of chester county beginning to pick some of it up as well. this is moving toward the east. every now and then there will be a little steadier shower mixed in. generally speaking this is going to be just sort of off and on light to moderate showers. also very cloudy today so damp cloudy a good day to keep an umbrella handy just in case those showers are popping through when you're out there. 52 degrees in philadelphia. 46 degrees in allentown 49 wilmington, 49 in trenton 48 millville and 58 in cape may and as we roll through the day expect to it stay mainly cloudy and for a good portion of the day the threat of showers will be there. by 7 o'clock 50, by 10 o'clock, 53 and we get a high this afternoon of 58 degrees at 3 o'clock before zipping back down to 48 by 6 o'clock and tomorrow well, we'll kick the rain out but it still looks like it's going to be windy and cool, more sunshine in play, though. karen, when we come back we'll talk more about the showers.

i'll show them to you on future tracker6 and we'll look ahead toward the weekend. >> all right dave. dry in the i've night. corridor. looking live at i-95 at allegheny that's your southbound traffic head towards center city. the construction has cleared so if you're coming down from bristol or bensalem you're looking good so far at least on i-95. vine street expressway no overnight construction here. everything is opened. looking good. certainly not expecting the gridlock we have seen in the city much over the past couple weeks. things looking good. construction crews are still out here blocking two left lanes on the roosevelt boulevard here past ridge avenue and we could see they're in the process of picking up the cones. they've been backing up one at a time but for now we're moving okay, just one lane kind of squeezing by here on the boulevard northbound as you head towards broad street. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. now another gop victory. the republicans have retained their house and senate majorities much the toomey-mcginty race in pennsylvania played a key role in that result. >> let's take a look at the results made official early this morning. the democrats put a lot of

money and muscle into this race. but it was not a successful effort. incumbent republican pat toomey edged out democrat katie mcginty. >> annie mccormick is live in center city with what those candidates had to say overnight. annie. >> reporter: yeah, matt and tam, this is a narrow race for republican senator pat toomey, he won by just two percentage points over katie mcginty. the race made history, though, because of how expensive this race was. in fact, it was the most expensive race ever. now, this race is another one that went into the early morning. senator toomey took the stage around 1:40 this morning after receiving the call from katie mcginty. now, candidates spent $160 million on this race. negative and positive ads fill the air waves and the internet senate incumbent toomey had a huge amount of support from turnout in rural areas. now, he kept his distance from donald trump throughout the campaign. this will be the senator's second term. katie mcginty who held a number of high profile jobs in

washington and harrisburg fought a tough campaign and later gave toomey her blessing. >> let me just tell you the truth about my record and my approach to government it's really pretty simple. i don't think the government should be wasting as much money as it wastes. i don't think it should be spending as much of your money as it spends, i don't think taxes should be as high as they are. i don't think the federal government -- [cheers and applause] i don't think the federal government should be stifling our economy by overregulating businesses. >> i believe that even with disappointment our greatest days are still ahead. now, even though we're not able to continue the exact journey that we thought we might be on, look, we're not going stop fighting for the issues that we care about. >> reporter: and toomey's narrow win was followed by a number of republican wins in battleground areas across the country. for now reporting live on the

superstitious. she didn't write her speeches until the very last moment and maybe should have held off even on things like that. >> well. >> wow. >> wow. >> what a night. >> and an end of polling as we know it, right. >> they'll figure out something. they have to tweak it but they'll figure it out. >> storm tracker6 live double scan shows we have a bit of precipitation moving in from the west and if we go right to that two dimensional view you can a lot of this is highlighted in lighter shades of green which isn't real significant rain but enough to get things a little bit wet out in lancaster and berks county and farther to the west you see a couple of other blotches with darker shades of green and even a little yellow. at times you'll get a little steadier shower pong through but for now it's all out to the west. stepping outside we have sky6 and there's the platt bridge still dry in south philadelphia and temperatures aren't that bad this morning. a little better than they were this time yesterday what with the cloud cover in place. 52 degrees currently in philadelphia as you step out the door. line in wilmington and trenton. 46 in allentown. 47 in that reading. 48 in millville and 58 degrees

in cape may, new jersey. so, here's the rain on future tracker6 and it does look like between now and 8:30 or 9:00 this is sweeping in from the west and probably cutting into philadelphia and maybe even getting a little bit beyond. then we go up to lunchtime and you can see how we're still in and out of some showers. every now and then they're little bit steadier. then we get up to 3 o'clock this afternoon and there may be a little bit avenue break down south but it still looks like a good portion of the area has a chance of being wet. these start to break up a bit for the evening rush hour but it still could be wet for the evening rush and then finally this stuff breaks apart and gets off the coast later in the evening and nighttime hours. up in the lehigh valley today cloudy skies, showers possible for a good portion of the day. and a high of 56 degrees. down the shore, we'll also look at mainly cloudy skies and some showers eventually arriving at the shore and probably not getting off the shore until later tonight. 56 is the high there. and in philadelphia, a high of 58 this afternoon. lots of clouds in place and there could be some showers for a good portion of the day off and on. it will be a little bit on the breezy side today, too.

proclaim victory over hillary clinton. he won pennsylvania first to do that since george bush in 1988. trump struck a more states man like tone saying it is time for america to bind the wounds of division. he was exceedingly gracious to clinton thanking her for her service noting that she called him to concede. clinton made no public remarks but we expect to hear from her later today. >> tam and karen i know a lot has been said of donald trump. one thing you can say is he worked extremely hard. >> he did. >> to win the presidency. he hardly ever slept in fact. >> a lot of people watching might not have slept. maybe european up all night watching results still coming in in the overnight hours. but if you're headed out on the roads right now we're looking live on the roosevelt boulevard extension at ridge avenue and we still see the construction crews they've been in the process of clearing. they were blocking the two left lanes so traffic was a little slow at the scene but they're almost out of here on the boulevard. we had app disabled vehicle that's cleared here on the northeast extension but we

still have four different work zones both ways on the northeast extension between quakertown and mid-county so you may see some issues with that. we've got an accident here on the atlantic city expressway the the westbound at the egg harbor toll plaza here in hammonton township in atlantic county unwant to watch because the e-z pass lance are all blocked at this point as you're heading westbound coming towards philadelphia. and we're told it's 'cause the accident hit a chair. we're not sure what the claire was doing there but nonetheless they're blocking all the e-z pass toll lanes while the workers are there. be careful while the workers are out there trying to fix that. let's go to the commuter traffic report this morning. if you're coming in from gloucester county new jersey, driving in from washington township looking at route 55, new jersey turnpike, 295, all looking good at this point if you're heading up and over the walt whitman or ben franklin no reported delays right there. storm tracker6 live double scan showing we're currently dry in the i-95 corridor but you can see these showers, they're progressing up to the north and east and will move

through the area by the end of the morning commute so you want to expect some wet weather coming your way. the current temperatures right now 52 degrees right now in philadelphia. it's 46 in allentown, 48 degrees in millville. we are watching for those showers and it's cooler with a high of just 58, matt. >> thank you, karen. breaking news here firefighters are battling a warehouse blaze in wilmington. the flames broke out near riddle avenue and mill road at 3 a.m. look at them emerge from that structure. the fire is located in a large old mill warehouse that was used for leather goods and barrels. nearby tanker fire companies from odessa delaware and chester counties in pa have been called in for support. so far there are no reports of any injuries. two philadelphia police officers have been rushed to the hospital following a hit-and-run car crash in the germantown section. chopper6 was over the scene at 21st and conlyn streets late last night. police say an officer in his 40's and another in his 30's were taken to einstein medical center in stable condition

with broken bones. it began as a routine car stop but the driver fled and crashed into the police suv. the driver then drove a short distance before fleeing on foot. he is now in custody. >> montgomery county commissioner josh shapiro is now pennsylvania's new attorney general. >> shapiro won his race over republican state senator john rafferty. the officers needed a permanent replacement after kathleen kane's conviction on perjury charges. shapiro is vowing to push protection of constitutional and consumer rights. he takes over an office of 800 employees many scarred by there kane conviction. pennsylvania has a new state treasurer democrat joseph torsella defeated republican otto voight. the last elected treasurer rob mccord respect as i understand and pled guilty to extortion charges. >> dean depasquale heads on to the auditor general spot with a victory over republican john brown.
