and getting ready to push across parts of south jersey and delaware. looks like we might be stuck with a little more clouds down south than we have off to the north today but overall we're going to call it partly sunny a73 degrees currently in philadelphia as well. down to 61 in allentown and reading, so cool in the northern and western suburbs. 71 in millville and the humidity levels have popped back up in parts of south jersey and delaware. you see a couple of low 70's and upper 60's on the map. that's somewhat humid airport. philadelphia also slightly sticky but we'll be seeing those humidity levels behave over most of the day. 72 degrees by 7 o'clock, by noon 84 and by 3 o'clock 87 degrees. that's your high today t not all that humid. a mix of clouds and sun. and still holding the upper 70's by 7 o'clock. and by the way, it has happened. summer officially arrived r several hours ago came in at 12:24 a.m. and so we are officially into the summer season. took awhile seems to goat there, right, 'cause we've all been going down the shore and having a lot of summer weather

for awhile. karen rogers we have an improvement in the weekend forecast. i'll have that for you coming up. >> all right, day. let's look outside live on the schuylkill expressway at montgomery drive. construction has cleared. it was blocking the left lane and crews now up ahead on the shoulder. you can see with the flashing lights and traffic is moving just fine. all the lanes and ramps of the vine street expressway are opened. no overnight construction scheduled for now, so traffic here moving allot better. in cheltenham township montgomery county mount carmel avenue shut down near houston avenue. watch for this water main break. stick to glenside or jenkintown to get around that. live in chadds ford we go. this is 202 at baltimore pikes construction was blocking on the the right lane but just wrapped up. traffic now moving a lot better but construction continues in wilmington delaware. this caused huge problems yesterday and it will that continue to block the two left lanes creating major delays on i-495 southbound at terminal avenue, tam. >> all right, thank you, karen. at this moment police still have a rural bucks county home cordoned off.

yesterday police discovered a cache of weapons and explosives inside this home. chopper6 was over the 8700 block of easton road in ottsville last night. that's are bomb experts william suiting up to investigate the home. later our own dann cuellar was following a report when this happened. >> reporter: it's unclear if the -- whoa. >> it's believed officials were performing a controlled detonation there. there are no reports of injuries. "action news" reporter katherine scott is now picking up the story from our satellite center. good morning, katherineism good morning, tam. and authorities have made progress at that home but the house remains closed off still surrounding roads have opened back up. let's go to video from that scene in ottsville bucks county and you can see what authorities were dealing with last night. this has been going on since yesterday on the 8700 block of easton road. when authorities were serving a mental health commitment warrant on a 70-year-old man

that's when this started. officials discovered chemical explosions weapons and ammunition on the property. you can see responding units wearing protective gear carefully moving weapons, boxes of ammunition and what was sent to be explosive liquid chemicals. they took materials from a back shed. you could also periodically hear controlled detonations. some neighbors say they were told to shelter-in-place. people who live nearby had no idea their neighbor had all of this inside his home. >> the chemical explosives is weird to me and guns and ammo, it's pennsylvania. >> we live out here, we hunt, fish, we're a bunch of red necks, you know, but no explosives, that's pushing the limit you know what i mean. >> reporter: at this point authorities are still talking to that resident. it's unclear if any charges will be filed. we're live from the satellite

center katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> in new jersey burlington township police are looking for an older model mazda protege a driver struck a 53-year-old woman on route 130 on sunday and then fled the scene. the sedan will likely be missing a mirror on the driver's side. anyone with information should contact police. police is searching fore four praise sen burglars who ransacked a family's delaware county home. inside they grabbed the keys to the family's store that are philadelphia and if broke into there, too. christie all leto -- aletto has the story. >> this comes down and we look it. >> reporter: these four men caught on neighboring surveillance cameras broke into the kim family's southwest philadelphia business and took just about everything they had. >> there's literally trash everywhere. they dumped cans all over herism hit hard mark kim spent

the last day trying to get the store back opened. >> pretty much everything in the store was a mess. they cleaned out all the cash registers. >> we don't believe it's random. we believe the family was watched and followed. >> reporter: so closely that the suspects knew where the family lived and when to strike at their broomall home. they made off with the family valuables and a set of keys to their store. >> they had a lot of nerve. they knew what they were doing t i'm pretty sure they knew our schedules. >> reporter: after ransacking the family home the bandits were spotted carting out stolen merchandise hours later. kim found these imflaps other business owners and handed that em to police. >> i was just angry. i was furious. i know -- it looked like a box of ice but i know what's inside there. it's money, it's cigarette it's cash for us. for that em o come into this community and just steal what my dad has worked so hard for, it's just -- it hurts me, you know, it hurts us. >> reporter: the kim family says they've never had anything like this happen to their home or their business

which has been around for four decades. so, if you recognize the four men in those pictures you're asked to contact either southwest detectives or authorities here at marple township police. in delaware county christie aletto channel6 "action news." >> wildwood police opened an investigation after an officer was caught on camera punching a man. this is a look at sunday's incident in slow moments the wildwood on the man appear to be having a confrontation and then for a unknown reason the officer strikes the man in the face. you see that right there. the man goes down and is later cuffed. the officer for now remains on duty. a former day care work here pushed a four-year-old girl down a flight of stairs has pleaded guilty to simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child. the incident was caught on surveillance camera at child of the future day care. 52-year-old sarah gable is scheduled to be sentenced in all right. the child was not seriously hurt. >> 4:37. a train carrying but derailed

in sellersville bucks county. authorities had to clean up diesel fuel that was leaking from a refrigeration unit but it notified hazard to the neighborhood. they've now determined -- they've not determined yet what caused the train to derail. >> governor tom wolf plans to sign legislation strengthening laws against animal abuse in pennsylvania. the state senate passed the bill two months after it passed the house. it would establish grades of violations up to a felony for intentionally torturing an animal or for neglect or abuse that causes it severe injury or death. one state senator calls the bill the most significant changes to pennsylvania's animal abuse laws in more than three decades. >> 4:38. new from overnight, uber's troubled ceo announces he's resigning. >> firefighters save construction workers trapped when the roof avenue home collapses. david. >> going to be a warm one this afternoon with a high of 87 but still not all that humid. that's just a few degrees above average and well off that record of nearly 100h

>> tropical storm cindy is churning in the gulf of mexico now and could make landfall on the texas-louisiana border tomorrow morning. the surf is now very high along the beaches and swimming is prohibited in many areas. the heavy rain means a high risk of flash flooding especially for new orleans and southern mississippi. many schools, camps and government offices will be closed today. >> i grew up in houston. that looks very familiar. it won't be the case around

here. >> no, not around here. we got a little bit of a pop-up shower maybe a thundershower this afternoon. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan, we are essentially dry this morning. looks like there might be a spotty sprinkle falling from low clouds down by dover. that could be ground clutter. as we look outside we have sky6 and you can see that over talen energy stadium there's a fair amount of sun beginning to build. we'll have partly sunny skies overall today. temperature currently is 73 degrees. the dewpoint in philadelphia is up there a little bit in the morning. we're at 67 but we expect those numbers to fall a little bit and while the temperature is up, the humidity should drop again today. winds out of the southwest at 8 miles per hour, just a little breezy. in terms of any rain today t-looks like we're fine in the morning and all the way in through most of the afternoon. you get up to about 3, 4 o'clock and there's the chance of a passing shower or a thundershower in the northern and western suburbs and then eventually by by dinnertime some of that may try to filter down towards philadelphia and parts of south jersey but it does look like it gets off the coast fairly quickly tonight.

there's a phillies game tonight, concert across the river in camden and i think most of those venues are going to be mainly dry. there could be a passing shower early on. today's forecast, 87 degrees is your high. 73 by 8 o'clock. 80 by 10 o'clock. 84 by noon. fairly comfortable this afternoon with a high of 87. you'll want cool drinks but it's not going to be all that humid. and by 6 o'clock, we're down to 80 with temperatures dropping a bit after that. 87 degrees in philadelphia. and wilmington and millville. mid 80's in trenton and reading and lancaster. 83 is today's high in allentown. 87 in millville and down the shore once again, it's looking like low 80's. for the phillies and cardinals tonight should be a pretty decent night for baseball. i'm going to call it mainly dry with the chance of an early shower. hopefully that gets through before the game starts. first pitch temperature 78. we'll dip to about 73 by the ninth inning, fairly comfortable. down to the tropics we go. tropical storm cindy as expected did form overnight and the it is now churning in the gulf of mexico. not too far away from new

orleans and houston. and the latest suggested tracks of this storm do have it going off to the north and probably coming in very close to the border between texas and new orleans. here you see it. 60 miles per hour winds right now and it makes landfall as a tropical storm the big issue there as tam was talking about a little bit ago is that heavy rain even though there's not going to be an abundance of wind the heavy rain could be a problem for those down south. 87 degrees. sucher has fishily initially officially arrived overnight. tomorrow 90 degrees t-dry t on friday hot with humidity building back a bit and a high of 90 and a late shower or thundershower is possible there t then for the weekend a bit of an improvement. there may be a shower around lingering on saturday morning but overall we're going from clouds to sun on saturday, a high of 86, a pretty nice afternoon and we now look dry for sunday with a mix of clouds and sun and a high of

a man blew up an explosive device at the city's central station. soldiers shot and killed the man in his 30's. nobody was hurt but the busy station was evacuated and trains diverted to other facilities and an official of the national rail company says the suspect was agitated yelling about jihadists before blowing up the small device. >> republicans held onto a hotly contested u.s. house seat in georgia. republican karen handel beat democrat jon ossoff in the special election to succeed tom price. election returns show handle won just over 52 percent of the vote. democrats had hoped this would be their first major shot at taking control of the house in the 2018 midterm election. and senate majority leader mitch mcconnell says he wants a vote next week on a republican healthcare bill to replace the affordable care act. but congress watchers say mcconnell has yet to secure the 50 republican votes he'll need to avert a defeat.
