but there is a watch in effect. i'm monica malpass. the big story is the accuweather alert. let's go to cecily tynan at the big board with the latest. monica, the storm system is beginning to blossom while philadelphia is receiving light rain. there is heavy rain across central pennsylvania, northern virginia and this will all slide to the east and south overnight hours. parts of berks county have been getting heavy downpours. flash-flood warnings for central berks county including reading until 1:30. double scan live shows why. we have this mode where we show you how much rain has fallen and areas near reading and to the west, two inches of rain has fallen. that area of rain is shifting further west away from reading.

we'll flip this over. reading is beginning to dry out. it's moving into northwestern lancaster county. we have areas of heavy rain progressing to the north and west from the shore. sea isle city, you have the heavier rain about 20 minutes ago moving into millville, smyrna, delaware heavy rain. off the atlantic, this will move in overnight hours. that's the stress of the rain. it will be falling heavily while most of us are sleeping. that's good news because most people will be off the road tonight. we have the flash flood watch into saturday afternoon. i want to stress this weekend will not be a wash out. i have promising news in the seven-day forecast. monica? >> thank you so much, cecily. >> now to "action news" reporter dann cuellar in gloucester county. he's seeing how people are preparing for possible flooding

there. good evening. >> good evening. flash flood watches have been issued, but they are hoping for the best. they are urging people to be aware and keep an eye out. >> through the years, residents have seen flash flooding that happen suddenly and with little warning. >> the streams can't handle the rain, so it runs into my backyard, a stream here and a stream there. i have a lake in my backyard for a period of time until the water can recede into the lake. >> down the shore, visitors plagued by closed beaches earlier due to bacteria, hope it's not a wash out. >> we have made due. my son is digging holes to china. we are having a good time because we are with family. we are monitoring the storm. emergency management officials are paying close attention. we look at storm drains to make

after his leg was run over by a train tonight. chopper 6 near the clarion hotel. the accident happened on the westbound freight tracks about 6:00. they have not identified the child or said how he's doing. he was transferred to children's hospital tonight. >> a truck hit an overpass so hard in south jersey that it twisted the railroad track on the road above taking out service on the transit line. he tried to make it under the 13.8' clearance. new jersey transit says damage from the impact in pennsauken will cause the rail line to remain suspended lieu the weekend. 12 days after a frankford man

admitted to shooting his neighbors in the head, police pressed charges. they released him when he claimed self defense saying he shot robert depaul and his girlfriend after they were climbing the fence. dempsey's sons pled with the d.a. to file charges and today he had this to say. >> i want to say thank you everybody in the local community and throughout everywhere for showing your support and honoring my mother and her boyfriend robert. hoyle remains locked up without bail. >> police and fbi are asking are for your help to identify this man that held up a bank in port

richmond today. he only used a demand note, he's considered armed and dangerous. last night a police chase and shooting in delaware. 23-year-old jonathan dry burg faces charges of murder after shooting at a police officer. it started with an alleged purse robbery. when police tried to stop him, he exchanged fire with an officer and took off running. no one was hurt. police arrested a 16-year-old accused of taking part in the robbery. historic bone in old city have gone missing before researchers could study them. 70 skeletons were excavated when crews building an apartmentment
