>> i don't come it's 60 degrees out there. >> reporter: it feels nice out there this morning. >> reporter: as soon as you step outside, it's like, wow, i remember this. the roads are wet, we had some light showers coming through so far. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows you these, so far so good it's light nuisance rain, roads wet, you want to use extra caution, matt pellman will talk about any problems that pop up this morning right now it's fairly light. we're looking at the arrival of heavier rain a little bit later on this morning and off and on through the day, but even then it will be pockets of it coming through temporarily. we're keeping an eye out for fog, because there's a chance this develops across the region. so far so good in philadelphia with a 7-mile visibility. with the areas highlighted in gray, berks county, lancaster county and chester county and through wilmington we have visibilities including a third of a mile in wilmington. it's dense, i had a twitter follower saying things look bad

in new castle county. there's problems in bucks county and trenton. be careful if you encounter the dense fog. the temperatures are great, 61 degrees in philadelphia. 61 in lancaster. you'll walk out in trenton and go ah, beautiful, 58 degrees. as we roll through the day, it stays mild. it will be damp, at times we'll see rain, but we'll stay in the low to mid 60s throughout the day. i think we could get up to 64 at some point. overnight tonight testers plunge in a hurry. -- temperatures plunge in a hurry. the northern and western suburbs could see a change in freezing rain and sleet. >> he don't want to be out playing in the puddles in 24 hours. go out and do that now. good morning, everybody we're watching fire activity at penns landing, they are blocking the northbound side of the columbus boulevard delaware avenue near callowhill street near dave and

buster's if you're familiar with the area. northbound columbus boulevard is closed, stay on i-95 or the numbered streets. big funeral for the fallen fire lieutenant we'll see traffic along the benjamin franklin parkway we'll talk about that in just a little while. not so bad along i-95 or the schuylkill expressway or the blue route, most speeds in the 40s or 50s. roads are wet. up to watch for slippery conditions, it's not slick or icy this morning. thanks to the temperature. in montgomeryville it's traffic light troubles that's causing the police officers out there directing traffic near north wales road, police are stopping and adhering to his direction. we had a crash in gloucester city, everything is reopened northbound at market street. two overturned trucks in burlington county. one 206 northbound and 76

eastbound. fire crews out on the scene of a fire at a pier in the penns landing section of the city. we have a number of emergency vehicles, fire trucks and police cruisers and ambulances moving equipment in and out there are marine crews in the water. it was a little smokier the last time we checked in. it seems to be clearing out a little bit. this is on columbus boulevard something caught fire on a pier that brought out the large response. the good news there seems to be no reports of injuries, however, as matt has been pointing out, there could traffic delays, if you can avoid going through the area, that's a good idea. on to the other big story of the morning, thousands of people are expecterred to -- recollected to come out an -- expected to come out who was killed a week ago taking on a

battle at a house fire. bob brooks is outside cathedral basilica saints peter and paul where a viewing and funeral will be held for matthew letourneau. >> reporter: there's a funeral and viewing open to the public, if anyone wants to come down and pay their final respects, they are welcome to. they are setting up and blocking off the streets you can see the members of the philadelphia police department. we were here last night for the first viewing for lieutenant matthew letourneau. i can tell you he will be remembered as a hero. he was carried into the basilica in a draped american flag. so many wanted to pay their respects to matthew letourneau, we spoke to those who knew him well. >> of all the people i've known there were very few in my life nothing negative could be said

about. matthew was one of them. >> it was tragic because he was an all-around guy. >> reporter: we spoke to lloyd ayers he remembered the day he swore him into the department 11 years ago. >> i got a chance to swear him in, he was doing what he loved to do. >> reporter: for everyone we spoke to, he died doing what he loved. he died last saturday after being trapped inside a home on north colorado in north philadelphia. >> it's our job, we understand the dangers with the job. >> reporter: a second viewing begins at 9:00 a.m. and goes until 10:30 a.m. the funeral mass begins at 11:00 a.m. several road closures around the basilica are set to happen. the surrounding area will become congested from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. we spoke to matthew letourneau's aunt who said we hope he is

looking down and see all the lives he's touched. lieutenant matthew letourneau was 42 years old and 11 year member of the philadelphia fire department. reporting live at the basilica, bob brooks channel 6 "action news." >> our thoughts and prayers to the lieutenant at family. >> this morning a man who tried to stop a robbery inside a barber shop in in there philadelphia is in critical condition after he was shot. the 27-year-old victim was a customer after two masked men burst into the barber shop along north 22nd street. the victim and the suspect got into a fight and the victim was shot in the chest and once in the right leg. there were three children including a baby during this shooting. they were not hurt. police took a suspect into custody four blocks away, this morning they are searching for the other person involved in the crime. there are new details about the investigation into the homicide of penn student blake burnstein while he was home in

california on winter break. according to search warrant obtained by the orange county register, an investigator says the friend who last saw him alive was interviewed by police and appeared nervous talking to detectives. the friends had scratched up hands and dirt under finger nails and avoided touching doors at the sheriff's office. his body was found at a park on tuesday. in this morning's business report a sudden decision by walmart affects people who work and shop at sam's club. maribel aber has details on the move. good morning, maribel. >> good morning, gray, 63 sam's club location is closing. walmart is being criticized for the way they delivered the news. some were not give notices. someplaces will be transformed as fulfillment centers. it came on the day it was being

as we look outside we're looking at wet conditions and damp conditions by the commodore barry bridge. lots of clouds out there and nuisance rain for the most part, but pockets of steadier rain coming in as we move through the day. 61 degrees, there's another part of the story, it's like wow, you forgot how it felt when it's this mild, it is nice. we had a wind advisory up this morning, but it's canceled by the weather service, winds going to ten 10. future tracker, between now and 9:30 a.m. we kill in with steadier pockets -- we start to fill in with steadier pockets of rain. 6:00 a.m. we're looking at thrust of this coming through. might be east of philadelphia by that point, can't guarantee the placement of on the model that's been waffling around a little

bit. pockets of rain and heavier cell here and there. the latest model is projecting half an inch of rain. i could see some areas in here going closer to an inch. less by the shore. higher amounts in the poconos, allentown and reading and new york state and new england. temperatures will be mild all the way, we'll hold in the low to mid 60s through the day. 8:00, temperatures 60. going for a high of 64 by 3:00 p.m. especially if we could lighten up the rain around then. periods of rain all day long it will be cloudy and damp. high temperatures, 62 in allentown and trenton. 63 in reading and wilmington. 61 in millville. down the shore, a little cooler, 53 in cape may. watch what happens with rain overnight. it continues off and on, but the northern an western suburbs see a change as we head toward morning. colder air is rushing in in a

hurry on saturday. we're concerned in the poconos, lehigh valley and berks county, there could be a change from rain to freezing rain and sleet. that's the worst kind of thing to drive and walk around in. the winter weather advisory stacialts in the poconos and -- starts in the poconos and doesn't kick in the lehigh valley until 10:00. that's a factor overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. through the day, icy spots are possible, because temperatures will plunge dungt day, -- during the day, if there is any standings water, it could freezes up, be careful driving and walking. this forecast has been frustrating. everyday we lower the temperatures for the eagles game, now it looks like the cold air will rush in so fast we'll be at the freezing mark in the first quarter, 27 in the 4th quarter. dress for the windchills in the teens and 20s.

the downed wires. eastbound side the truck has been cleared. we have one 2606 northbound past 70. -- 206. northbound past 70. we have two overturned trucks, it's off to the side, you can get through. crash 130 northbound at market street is gone. you don't want to use northbound side of columbus boulevard by penns landing stay on i-95. i-95 southbound is slowing with speeds in the 20s from the betsy ross bridge into girard. outside live of montgomeryville north of the mall near north wales road. police are out there, because the traffic lights are not working. traffic is moving slowly, but getting through the intersection. >> the search goes on in california for survivors after the deadly mudslides 400 homes damaged or destroyed, at this point 17 people confirmed dead

and another 8 missing. 500 first responders with k-9 still busy tracking through the thick mud desperately searching for survivors. rescuers say there's areas they have not been able to access, so there's a possibility that some of the missing could be found alive. parts have been warned about keeping laundry pods out of the reach of small children. now health experts are the exteg the warning to warning to teenagers. the tide pod challenge is gaining popularity on social media. teens are putting the pods in their mouths, often times actually consuming the pods. wow. poison control said if someone swallows a small amounts of concentrated detergent in the pods, it could result in

for the new year to have gray back. and this morning those temperatures. it is the first chance i've had to say hi to gray. hi gray! we have warm temperatures as matt mentioned, but we're cloudy and damp. we have steadier rain later on this morning and off and on through the day. basically right now it's light rain and darker shade of green pushing through north philadelphia and chestnut hill and up into montgomery county and bucks county picks that up, as well. it's steady, but moderate rain, nothing heavy just yet. heavier cell we could see later in the day. we have fog developing more through millville, with two mill visibility that's not too bad. wilmington has been the focal point we're looking at a third of a mile of visibility there. in places around new castle county, delaware and chester county. you want to slow it down if you

westbound by 295. downed wires and transformer fire are the reasons. stick with 73 or church road or crescent road, 70 westbound blocked off on this friday morning. >> breaking right now, police are searching for the gunman who left a man for dead in the street in delaware county. officers found the victim on the 1,000 block of barker road in darby township around midnight. he was shot in the head at close range, he was pronounced at the scene. no suspects or motive for why he was killed. breaking a man in the hospital after falling into a shift at a center city construction site and getting stuck. it hook an hour to rescue the -- the tyke an hour to rescue the man at 15th and chestnut. two men were up on the 40th floor of a highrise that was under construction. the victim fell into a shaft and broke his arm. it is not known why the men were up there after hours.

friends and family pay their respects to a fallen firefighter killed on the job. bob brooks is outside the cathedral basilica of saints peter and paul of lieutenant matthew letourneau. good morning, the public viewing starts at 9:00 a.m., anyone who wants to pay their final respects they are more than welcome to do so. fire officials and police department are setting up, some of the streets are being blocked off. gray i can tell you last night we were at the first viewing we spoke to so many close to lieutenant matthew letourneau who said he will be remembered as a hero. last night the line was constant outside the basilica so many paying their respects to matthew letourneau an indicator of how many lives the lieutenant was able to positively touch. >> of all the people i've known

there are very few in my life that i have known that absolutely nothing negative could be said about. matthew was one of them. >> i spoke to his family and mother and sister. i told them we loved him as much as he loved us. >> reporter: everyone had no doubt he died doing what he loved, that's firefighting, and helping and serving others. >> it's our job, we understand the dangers with the job. >> it was sad, it was tragic. he was an all around guy. >> reporter: matthew letourneau died last saturday after being trapped inside the burning home on north colorado street in north philadelphia. the home occupant passed away. the second public viewing starts at 9:00 a.m. and goes to 10:30. the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. several road closures are set to happen, the surroundings area will be congested from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. this afternoon. commuters are asked to keep that

winds. there's a chance of slightly steadier stuff that will develop and move on in. if that hits you will see ponding and puddling on roads, slow it down for that. there will be lulls going back and forth between the heavier stuff. by 6:00 p.m. we'll be back in the heavier cells. none of this lasts that long, but when you see it, there will be ponding and puddling on the roadway. the latest model projections are suggesting not all a that much down the shore, probably a little bit more half inch to an inch in the center of the region. the farther north you go, the poconos, allentown reading, are the focal point of a heavier rain, an inch to two inch inches in spots. we have a shot of 64 by 3:00 p.m. if we shut down the rain a little bit around the middle of afternoon.
