>> good morning it is 5:00 a.m., monday, january 15, matt is off, alicia vitarelli is joining us. >> here's what we're following, thousands of people are expected to gather in north philadelphia to honor martin luther king with a day of service. >> a car plunges into the delaware valley killing a passenger. the driver is accused of running away from the scene. the eagles will face the vikings in the nfc championship, birds fans are going out to show their team spirit. >> i had one green dress i wore it yesterday. >> you're excused.

>> reporter: at least stefon diggs will not have to buy himself a drink in minnesota soon. >> reporter: i was at a friends house, saturday night, they were popping the campaign. >> reporter: intense games this weekend most of them, other than the patriots game they were really close. the weather center, we have satellite and radar, we have a few clouds around, and overall we're expecting a bright start and high clouds move in as the day goes on. we'll be looking at a clipper system out to the west by cincinnati bringing us light snow. 1 in reading, 15 in trenton. 18 in millville. 16 in philadelphia. it's cold as you step outside. dry conditions, but a little bit of a breeze out there, too. a windchill currently of 5 in philadelphia. one degrees in allentown. 4 in wilmington, 4 in trenton. 5 in millville. you get the picture you have to bundle up as you head out to the bus stop and the train station or just to heat up the car.

are reflecting that, i-95, everything is green for the eagles and speeds are in the 50s. let's look over at west chester, chester county. we have roadwork going on after repairs from a water main main break on high street, near east biddle street. slow go in west chester. vine street expressway, no problems, eastbound or westbound, westbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill expressway. we have a couple of cars. we had a huge accident an overturned vehicle blocking all lanes, but all clear is now. >> happening today, the americans will honor the legacy of martin luther king with a day of service, our area is special when it comes to this our area has the largest response around the country. >> reporter: good morning, tam this is impressive event just to see what they have really every year for the past 23 years, take a live look here behind me, this is the set up, of course it is 5:00 a.m., things will get underway at 8:00 a.m., people will arrive in a couple of hours, about 150,000 people are expected to serve in 2,000 projects. some of activities include workshops, trainings and job opportunity fair in the lower level of girard college and the annual king tribute concert later today in the afternoon. we expect to see local leaders this morning including governor wolf, mayor kenny, bob casey, they will lead volunteers in sorting and packing food that will be distributed to people in need through hundreds of philadelphia area nonprofit observations, all this will highlight the poor people's campaign which was launch by dr. king 350 years ago today, take a listen to what the

desegregate the college in 1965. dr. king was here in august of 1965. they will be sharing their experience and insights with the younger generation, which the organizer said is the most important part of day ma making sure this is passed along to the younger generation. jeanette reyes channel 6 "action news." >> in the meantime, quakertown school superintendent is responding to criticism that the district is holding classes today the martin luther king holiday. it's been a designated snow makeup day on the calendar. while the district said the calendar has not been changed they ordered all social studieses classes focus on the civil rights leader. it's a lesson in light of the students who made racial slurs about the visiting cheltenham high school during a home game. this was the scene on the

5100 block of walton at 1:45 a.m. the driver was taken to the hospital with various injuries. she is in stable condition. a woman was killed when the car she was riding in plunged into the delaware river. witnesses say they saw the driver of the car runaway after the crash. place police say the driver was speeding on riverbank road in burlington city when he hit a parked car and then took a nose dive into the delaware river. several people helped pull the driver out of the of the water. >> he just pulled. out anticipate he said my girlfriend is in the car, can you help her, when they turned around to help the girl. he ran away. >> authorities did find the driver a short time later, emergency crews rushed to the woman, she is in the hospital she was pronounced dead later. at this time no charges in the case have been filed. >> burlington county prosecutors are trying to determine if charges will be filed in the crash that sent a

minivan into a lake killing a husband and wife on route 130 near beverly rancocas road saturday. a car hit the couple's minivan sending it into the lake. robert and janice steve steven son. ice jams have caused flooding and prompted evacuations near rising creeks an. there have been no issues in our immediate area. eagles face the vikings in the nfc championship. i'm sure you were watch this guy last night they scored a jaw-dropping 61-yard touchdown. minnesota wins, 29-24. a nail by ther, eagles fans -- a nail biter. eagles fans are getting pumped.

associated with this, there has been a concern that a coastal low develops we're watching that for wednesday. generally speaking most models expect that to swing through quickly. the main snow sometime after 3:00 p.m. in the northern and western suburbs like allentown and berks county. most of it wraps up at 1:00 a.m. we're expecting a coating to 2 inches. the northern areas have the better chance for that. not a lot of snow but enough for slippery travel tuesday evening and wednesday morning. we have a lingering snow shower wednesday morning, i'm not sure that will be there, but we'll keep our eyes on that. up north in allentown, 2 inches or so. one model at 3 inches, down the shore and parts of south jersey, closer to the coast, probably less than an inch that's what most model models have right

now. we're looking at a high of 32 degrees, sun and clouds, dry for martin luther king. tuesday accuweather alert for light snow somewhere from a coating to a couple of inches and slippery travel once this gets going, 40 degrees is the high with temperatures dropping quickly as the snow arrives. snow ends wednesday morning in the wee hours of the morning before you wake up. 35 degrees is the high there. temperatures start to degrees. chilly under the sun. 43 friday, saturday, sunny and nice conditions with a high up to 46. sunday, 54 in the evening probably dropping into the upper 40s during the game, clouds will increase on sunday, again there's a chance of evening rain we'll see if we get some of that. >> thank you, david. 5:12 a.m., the eagles help the phillies win a bet against the braves. we'll explain. details on the wager coming up. >> we have a close call for
