will speak with students and supporters at a college and mike pence will join him for a rally in manchester new hampshire later tonight. they will end the night in grand rapids michigan. for a closer look at a race in virginia let's go to news4's molette green. >> reporter: angie, good morning, it is all about who shows up on election day, so both major party candidates and campaigns are duking it out for democratic candidate tim kaine coming home to the commonwealth with stops in northern virginia and richmond to push the get out the vote message later today. kaine will be stumping right here at george mason university. the doors are open at 5:30 and the event kicks off at 7:30. he is expected to make that final push for hillary clinton for president in what the campaign is calling embracing an america that is stronger together.

final before election day. that is the latest live, i'm molette green, news4, back to you. virginia's tenth congressional district seat is up for grabs this election cycle as well. democratic candidate luann bennett is running against barbara comstock. bennett went after her opponent by aligning her with donald trump. they both oppose comprehensive immigration reform. agenda, you're not going to like barbara comstock's agenda. >> virginia's tenth congressional district covers all of loudoun county and fairfax and prince william county as well. comstock has not endorsed the republican nominee. she responded to bennett's speech in a statement saying in part, while our opponent was having a press conference with a partisan democrat from maryland, we've been meeting with a diverse group of voters from all over the district. still ahead, we'll break
maryland senator mikulski. we'll check in with chuck todd. new this morning, a strike of philadelphia transit workers is now over. septa and union reached an agreement early this morning. the deal still needs to be ratified by the union and approved by septa's board. he asked the judge to halt the strike in order to provide transportation on election day. instead, service will be fapzed some officials are concerned it could dampen voter turn out if it continued through election day. trust news4 as we countdown to decision 2016. check out the election guide we've created in the nbc washington app. it is 6:06 now. a lot of damage to clean up and several people to care for. they were hurt in an earthquake in oklahoma. it struck the town of cushing. there is a hub for oil
infrastructure. schools there are also closed today. we're following a developing story out of charles county. that is where the maryland state fire marshall is working to find out what caused a deadly brushfire in waldorf. one person died on garner avenue after the fire broke out around 5:00. the victim's identity has not been released. prince william county police are investigating the county's 20th homicide of the year. a 26-year-old woman was shot and killed last night. it happened in a the corner of lee highway and linton hall road. investigators do not believe the shooting was random but no one has been arrested. in just a matter of hours, more indictments are expected against justin poe, the former fairfax county probation office counselor accused of raping an arlington woman last may. the office would not confirm which charges are expected to come down. friends and family of
it has been almost two months since a d.c. police officer not and killed the maryland man after a crash between his motorcycle and a police cruiser. the police say the crash was intentional. witnesses say the crash was unavoidable. the protest is planned where sterling was killed. following breaking news here at the live desk, america's first female attorney general has died. janet reno was 78 years old. she had been ba parkinson's disease since 1995. reno was nominated by president bill clinton and served as attorney general from '93 to 2001. many controversial political fights unfolded including the seizure of elian gonzalez and the deadly waco, texas compound raid. she returned to her home state of florida and unsuccessfully ran for governor. reno's god kaur confirmed her

berman in 2000. his arrest came as a final episode of an hbo documentary was airing. he has been serving a seven year prison sentence on federal weapons charges. what was meant to be a fun weekend celebrating a friend's marriage turned to be a deadly weekend. julian jones was beaten to death early saturday morning. he did nothing to provoke the ak suspects. >> for those of you who participated in the assault of mr. jones, i also ask you to contact a lawyer, turn yourself into the police. >> police say they plan to release photos of the suspects involved. it is 6:15. it is expected to be a tight race for the white house. >> swing states are more important than years.
chuck todd talk about this. what do the candidates have to do to win to get to the 270? >> well, right now it is all about turning out the base. i don't think there is any voter left vascilating between clinton and trump. that is what you have. hillary clinton, she is focused solely right now on the ic philadelphia. all three of those states, ohio, michigan, pennsylvania, she needs a strong african-american turn out in those states in order to secure or in case of ohio, come up with from behind there a little bit. with the trump, it is getting up. skeptical republicans who have never been fans of his to decide that perhaps the supreme court is more important than their feelings towards him. he has to continue to drive up,
republicans. he is dealing with people deciding whether to vote at all. if they vote, they will likely vote for them. they're deciding whether it is worth coming out. >> what are the states then that trump needs to focus on to target those particular voters? >> well, look, he's got a narrow path but it exists. he has to win florida, north carolina and ohio. . all three of them. all three states, big early voting states. perhaps there is not much he can do except hang he has been looking for a blue state to break through in and pennsylvania doesn't look good. i think his focus on michigan is smart. it comes late. the clinton campaign clearly takes this challenge seriously. they're sending resources there today. president obama is going. hillary clinton is going. so i think keep an eye on michigan. i still think she is the favorite there but we'll look back and say boy, she is lucky
>> all right. nbc news political director and moderator of "meet the press" chuck todd. we'll see you on "the today show" for more analysis. we want to turn to chuck bell and talk about the forecast for the week ahead. chuck? >> we're finally getting back into more typical november weather after another mild day yesterday. up to 70 degrees. the change in the locks over the weekend means we get color back in the sky before 7:00 in the morning. the next three to four weeks. sun down is at 5:01 today and the sunsets at 5:00 tomorrow and before 5:00 starting the day after the election all the way until early january, about a 60 day stretch of sunsets before 5:00 in the evening. that is always kind of depressing when it gets started. with a clear sky, temperatures have really dropped into the 30s down near freezing for places
34 in luray. 30 in manassas. temperatures will be in the chilly 30s and 40s between now and about 8 or 9:00 this morning. eventually getting back into the upper 50s and around 60 degrees. 63 downtown today. north winds today out of the, at 10 miles an hour as the area of low pressure way off shore, that storm is moving away. in the wake we have the north wind today. that is the reason today will be about 10 degrees cooler than yesterday. the northerly wind doesn't have moisture with dry for today. here is future weather. not even a cloud showing up on the future weather. for early tomorrow, a clear and cool start tomorrow morning and a couple of mid and high level clouds drift inning tomorrow afternoon. skies get mostly cloudy tuesday night into early wednesday. here is future weather at 5:00 a.m. on wednesday. an opportunity for scattering the clouds around. that rain chance will linger through most of your wednesday. rain fall amounts won't be all that much. just a little chance for some
tomorrow. only near 60 on wednesday, in the 50s much of the day. breezy and cooler weather for thursday and friday and the weekend is looking down right chilly. i'll give you the whole ten day forecast coming up at 6:51. back in a few more minutes with the four things you need to know about your forecast. for right now, melissa mollet says there is at least one thing you need to know about 270. >> we have a couple of problems on 270. chopper 4 was headed to another problem there, southbound at 80 and stopped there a couple of minutes ago after seeing this problem here so right now, it looks like the response from the crash here off to the right shoulder this morning, still, we're seeing as chopper zooms out for us, a bit of a delay headed southbound and this section and in the one north of there. so you can see the problem up here near 80 and then where chopper is this morning, southbound there, near 118. so some pretty big slow downs there. taking a look, again, seeing some slow downs inbound, indian head highway. inbound, branch avenue as well.

she has been following the story for us this morning. >> eun, aaron, nbc news confirming through family that the former attorney general spent the final days in miami surrounded by loved ones. reno who announced she had parkinson's disease died from complications from the disease. they described her death as peaceful. nominated by president bill clinton, reno ra department for many years and was part of many big fights including the elian gonzalez case. she worked to free prisoners through evidence through dna testing. i hope you're able to say you voted. you voted for a better, stronger, fairer america. an america where we build. [ inaudible ] not walls.

woman's body was found. kristin? >> reporter: that's right. this woman was shot right in the shopping center parking lot and so this morning, police are looking for the shooter. the shopping center is the virginia gate way shopping center off of lee highway not far from 66. the shooting happened yesterday right around 5:30 in the afternoon when this place would have been pretty busy. when police got there, they found this woman and she had been shot. and died. police say at this point the shooting does not appear to be random. still a lot of questions that we're asking to police this morning about exactly where she was found and the circumstances, but right now, they're still looking for the shooter. back to you. >> kristin, thank you. it is 6:35. d.c. police are looking for two men who they say robbed a howard university student. this happened yesterday afternoon around 3:30. it was at 4th and college
