hello, jimmy john's! jimmy john's! jimmy john's! freaky fresh, freaky fast. thanks for joining us this afternoon. i'm vince vitrano. if you're just joining us stories today. the brookfield community honoring a green beret who died in afghanistan. staff sergeant matthew thompson was killed this week, and is the first american service member killed in afghanistan since january. he enlisted in 2011 and was a 2006 graduate of brookfield central high school. he also attended marquette university. the school will honor thompson with a moment of silence at tonight's football game. as the community continues to heal following this month's unrest in sherman park... the

local youth today. keynote speaker eddie moore jr. says he's encouraging kids attending to now be leaders... and take what they learn back to their peers. the co-chair of the state's budget writing committee is trying to generate some support for boosting transportation funding. the budget is facing a 939 million dollar shortfall.governor scott walker has said he won't approve any new taxes or fees to pay for it.representative john nygren believes involving the public is key to changing lawmakers' mi downpours redeveloped overnight, especially south of milwaukee, and they were out of the area by 9am, and it remained warm and humid with lows near 70. the sky has now cleared, the humidity has dropped significantly the past few hours with a nw wind, and highs will be near 80. tonight

murder conviction.avery's attorney, kathleen zellner is requesting access to d-n-a evidence used to prosecute avery. she is also requesting new testing be done that was not available during the original trial. still no word on what the state plans to do following the overturned conviction of avery's nephew... brendan dassey.he was convicted of helping avery murder teresa halbach in 2005... but a federal judge recently overturned the decision... saying his confession was co-erced.the state has decision... decide to re-try dassey... or release him from prison. more news now--drug maker mylan says it plans to boost access to its epipen auto- injector.the news comes after mylan came under fire for a 400-percent price increase in the past decade.under the company's new pricing plan, mylan is reducing the cost through the use of a savings card.patients who were previously paying the full price for the epipen will have their out-of-pocket cost cut

on c-n-b-c, mylan's c-e-o said the company wants to insure the life-saving drug is available to those who need it. "this isn't an epipen issue. this isn't a mylan issue. this is a healthcare issue. pharmaceutical, the irony is the system incentives higher prices." mylan also is doubling the eligibility for its patient assistance program, which will eliminate out-of-pocket costs for uninsured and under-insured patients. for the first time-- america's top doctor is reaching out to every physician in the united states.the u-s surgeon general is sending a letter to the doctors... warning them about the opioid epidemic.in it-- he asks for help to solve the urgent health crisis.from 1999 to 2014-- more than 165- thousand people in the u-s died from overdoses related to pain medications. some of the surviving victims of the orlando nightclub shooting... will not have to deal with the costs of the hospital care they received.

they will not bill survivors for medical services.in june... omar mateen opened fire inside the club... killing 49-people.orlando regional says it will seek payment for it services from other resources... such as insurance plans and a victims fund set up by the city. black-box recordings from the el faro cargo ship -- shedding light on the crew's final hours.n-t-s-b investigators are now analyzing some 26-hours of information from the voyage data recorder -- which was pulled from the ocean floor back i faro sank october 2015 during hurricane joaquin.all 33 people on board were killed. the n-t-s-b has not released the audio. an investigation happening now on the death of a woman who fell from a zip line ride at a delaware park.police say a 59-year-old woman fell 40 feet from a zipline yesterday afternoon at go ape adventure park.go ape immediately shut down and investigators spent the afternoon collecting evidence to determine what went wrong.
