kropff. and i'm ian reitz. this morning, we want to make sure you're aware of a crime trend where criminals have been targeting elderly shoppers in grocery stores. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live at publix on redmen parkway in plant city. emerald, these thieves are distracting elderly shoppers and stealing their wallets. but police say family members can help p loved ones from becoming targets. yeah, it all has to do with awareness. police say a lot of times, the elderly might not always be aware of the latest scams and crime trends, so it's up to family members to make sure they're vigilant about keeping their loved ones aware of the things happening that could put them in danger....like the latest crime spree targeting shoppers at publix stores

about one thing you see that could be tempting for thieves. if you pointed out that purse, you're absolutely right. here's what's been happening. this group of thieves, made up of two women and a man, come into the store and find an elderly person to talk to. and because people see this as a friendly, safe area, most don't see the harm in a casual conversation. but while that conversation is going on, another person in the group swipes your wallet right from your purse while the third person watches out for other people. and on top of at criminals have already used the wallets for their own selfish desires. police say they used credit cards to buy 1-thousand dollars worth of gift cards from a nearby cvs. and at 6, i'll share a few other tips to keep you safe from crooks trying to take advantage of you while you're shopping. back to you. president-elect donald trump continues to put together his administration with inauguration day a little more than two months away. mr. trump's transition appeared to be disorganized on tuesday after

it also means less hassle....like fewer lines at the d-m-v. in colorado, they just found out their state will test the new digital ids, alongside iowa, idaho and maryland. but florida could definitely roll out a similar program soon. two years ago, the florida legislature passed a bill requiring "the department of highway safety and motor vehicles to develop a system for issuing digital proof of driver license" and to penalize people who create fake but while you can use your digital license for traffic stops, you won't be able to use it to buy cigarettes or a bottle of wine....that's why you'll also get to keep your plastic id card too. at 6-30.....
