(applause) florida senator marco rubio also took shots at the front-runner:rubio says: "we are not going to allow the conservative movement to be defined by a nominee who isn't a conservative. and we certainly need to election someone who is prepared to be president in a thoughtful and a serious and important way given the threats this country faces." ohio governor john kasich says he's not dropping out:kasich says: "you just hang on, because you know what a lot of people say, if i get out, donald trump would win ohio and that would be the end of it."(on-cam tag) the republican candidates face off in their next debate thursday night at the university of houston. the event comes just days before the important super tuesday

3 this week, we've been dealing with *tornadoes in florida. but once summer starts, it's all about *hurricanes. we've been lucky... the bay area hasn't been hit directly in some time, but that doesn't mean the threat doesn't exist. fox-13's mike bennett shows us what makes hurricanes so dangerous. 3 3 it's been more than 10 years since florida has seen a direct hit from a hurricane and almost 100 years since tampa bay has seen one. and yet, we still are one of the most vulnerable areas in the country officially, our hurricane season begins june 1 and continues through november 30th, but storms can still form even out of season. storms are measured by their winds, which can range from
5:25 am
significant effect of hurricanes. they can also cause storm surge, coastal flooding, severe weather, tornadoes, and inland flooding caused by heavy rain. winds are the strongest along pushes water above sea level, creating storm surge. a major hurricane can produce a wall of water move than 10 feet above normal, which can easily flood many of our coastal communities. 90% of all deaths worldwide in hurricanes are from storm surge or rainfall flooding. this is why evacuations ahead of a storm are so important. don't wait to evacuate. know what evacuation zone you live in and where you'll go. keep a list of emergency telephone numbers. and create a disaster supply kit with non perishable supplies like batteries, food, water, toiletries, and clothing among other things. further inland, the winds can still have an impact along with severe weather and tornadoes. but the biggest impact is often from inland flooding. torrential downpours can produce several inches of rain in a short span of time. streams and rivers may rise, and the threat for flooding may exist well beyond the duration of the storm.as we know, flooding can also occur during our summer rainy season. the majority of flooding deaths happen when people try to drive through flooded areas. it only takes a couple feet of moving water lift your cara&if you can't see the road beneath the water, don't drive through it. turn around, don't drown. and remember, it may be a good idea to purchase federal flood insurance since it's not covered under most homeowner's policies.while warnings for
