7:00 am
. >> alcides: welcome to "good day tampa bay." we have a sad story out of hillsborough county. this is a live look woodbury. we understand that three people were killed in the crash, including a father who was 31 years old and two of his children, a 9-year-old and a 5-year-old. there was a woman in the car as well. she was transported to tampa general hospital. we understand that her injuries are serious. so, again, we start this morning with a sad story. horrific crash, three people
7:01 am
what we understand. we have a crew on the way. we hope to continue to follow the story throughout "good day tampa bay." all right. so again, good morning, and welcome to "good day tampa bay." i'm alcides segui. it's sunday, november 6th. thank you for being with us. let's start off with a look at the forecast. cooler outside, 66 degrees outside, lindsay. >> cooler and more comfortable and a few clouds this morning and sunrise an hour earlier with the time change. hopefully you remembered to fall have big plans messing you up this morning. it's above average, but it's cooler than this time yesterday. the clouds, you notice them this lakeland. we see breaks in the clouds. 67 in clearwater and up to 68 this hour in st. pete and brooksville at 63 and it's so comfortable. we dropped the dupe into the 50s and 50s and 60s. if you don't like the warmth,
7:02 am
nice. we have a couple of sprinkles and they have exited. they're west of u.s. 19 and pasco county. look at the clouds coming in from the west and east today thanks to the northeast wind, which is a bit breezy, again, this afternoon. 8 for the high, which is above average, but a pleasant day and a great-looking week ahead. don't miss the seven-day including some cooler temperatures coming up. >> alcides: let's continue with that developing story we just told you about a short time ago. three people are dead over an overpass on i-75. again, we know that three people are dead, that's the father, who is 31 years old or a man 31 years old and two children, a 9 and 5-year-old. this happened in brandon. this is a live picture of the scene from the fdot camera. traffic is very slow-moving on the right side of the screen. a car landed on woodbury road.
7:03 am
well was taken to tampa general hospital with life-threatening injuries. witnesses say the car was speeding before that accident. of course, florida highway patrol is investigating. fox 13's kellie cowan is on her way to the scene right now. she'll have the latest information on the story as soon as she gets there. >> also new this morning, the pinellas county sheriff's office is investigating a deadly street north around 10:30 last niem. john zamola was ramming his wife's car and knocking out a pillar on their house with a pickup truck. when deputies approached him and he got out of the truck with the a knife, that's when he was killed according to investigators. >> we're fortunate the deputies are safe and that they were able to do what they did to protect themselves, because he was
7:04 am
officers were hurt. they are both on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. after many months of campaigning, the time has come. today is the last day of early voting, and tuesday is election day. fox 13's political editor craig patrick is with us this morning. we know that early voting expects today. what's the turnout going fob? >> low 70s, 72% turnout by the time all is said the surge we saw in mail-in ballots and early voting, you're dealing with in excess of 40% of the vote already being in before election day itself. so the election actually started weeks ago. >> all eyes continue to be on florida. this race gets tighter and tighter by the day. hillary clinton and donald trump, it's neck and neck. what do you think we'll see here in florida? >> you just nailed it. neck and neck. florida is ground zero. florida is going to be very, very close as well.
7:05 am
florida. mathematically making some basic assumptions here, donald trump cannot win the white house without winning the state of florida. he knows it, and hillary clinton knows it's checkmate if she's able to win florida. it's why they've both spent so much time here, and i think it will come down to the wire. if you look at the returns so far in early voting, republicans and democrats are neck and neck. if you extrapolate where the vote came in with the polling, it shows that they're separated by a sliver heading into election day. i think it kind of nights with everybody watching what happens in florida. >> i have to ask you, a lot of polls are coming out, and they show a very tight race at some point trump even leading hillary clinton, but it's well within the margin of error. with that said, a lot of the experts are still predicting that hillary clinton will become our next president. why so? how is that playing out? >> a lot also predicted trump wouldn't get the republican nomi nomination, so you jr.ed estimate trump at your own
7:06 am
hillary clinton has an inherent advantage in the electoral college. we don't have a national election. we have 51 different elections, 50 states plus d.c. if you look at the way those states are stacked, hillary clinton enters this with a presumed edge in electoral votes, which means it makes it much tougher for donald trump. he has to run the table in a certain sequence of states. it certainly is possible, but she clearly has the inside track. >> early voting ends today. it's a wonderful opportunity to t going to be a madhouse i think at a lot of polling stations out there, and i imagine that's what a lot of supervisors of elections are tells folks if you can't get out there. come tuesday there's a lot of people out there. >> we don't want a repeat of 2012. that was part of the thinking here. you had six-hour lines to vote and they were waiting for florida to weigh in and they wouldn't weigh in. come on, florida. election managers across the state are determined to make sure something like that does
7:07 am
you have many in tampa bay area it particular in hillsborough county. they're giving as many access to vote as they can heading into tuesday. >> i have to ask and i don't know if you give me a clear answer. that's okay. what do you expect, who do you think will be next president come tuesday? >> well, i think the models, again, favor hillary clinton. if you're betting, you bet hillary clinton. i wouldn't bet more than a dollar on it at this point, because we've had some rea race. the movement has clearly favored donald trump, and all those people that said this race was over a month ago were just plain wrong, because there's always the potential for an october surprise to come along, as we had surprises for months. boy, did one come along a few days ago and shook up the race in ways very, very difficult to predict, and we're basing this on polling. guess what? in britain the polls were wrong, weren't they? >> they have been in the past.
7:08 am
weren't they? they've been wrong time and time again. you can make a difference, and that's why i think we're a long way from finished by this time on tuesday night. >> we talked about early voting and absentee ballots play a critical role on tuesday. it's interesting to see what the numbers are early on. thank you for being with us. i appreciate it. >> you got it. thank you. a reminder that early voting ends today in hillsborough, pinellas and polk bring a photo and a signature i.d. your best bet is to bring the driver's license, and it all helps -- it also helps to have your sample ballot with you. polling stations open at 7:00 this morning, and they close at 7:00 p.m. that muches the scene at the donald trump rally in reno,
7:09 am
the audience reportedly screamed gun. the secret service says they searched the area and did not find a gun. they did detain someone, but no charges were filed. now, my friends, you are a harte bunch standing out here in the rain. i don't think i need to tell you all of the wrong things about donald trump, but here's what i want you to remember. i want to be the president for everybody. everybody who agrees or -- >> alcides: despite rain hillary clinton holding a rally in south florida. clinton's speech was cut short with thunderstorms when they rolled in. as you can see there, that did not slow her down. president obama will be in orlando campaigning for clinton today. he'll be at an event at osceola lahair taj park stadium in kissimmee. he'll be joined by stevie wonder. the event is free, but you have to rsvp on clinton's website.
7:10 am
event is set to begin at 1:30. also developing this morning, plant city police are investigating an officer-involved shooting. it happened in downtown. police got a call about a theft at a downtown store just before 2:00 in the afternoon when an officer caught up with the suspect, there was a confrontation and altercation of some sort. that's when detectives say the officer opened fire in self-defense. >> it's scary. you just got to be careful and watch who comes in th then we saw people running because they, i think, were scared as well. >> alcides: no word on how the suspect is doing. the officer was not hurt. fdle is investigating. a 15-year-old pasco county student is arrested after deputies say he threatened to shoot people at his school. the teen is a student at classical preparatory academy. on tuesday the teen made statements about shooting up the

it's a comfortable 65 degrees on brookdale bayshore. we wake up to all 60s this morning. a little above average but very pleasant. pleasant. what about the week ahm amendment 1 is endorsed by florida's firefighters... because it does solar the right way. amendment 1 protects consumers from scams, and unsafe solar installations. safe solar vote yes on amendment 1. for the sun. i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. donald trump: i could stand in the middle of 5th avenue and shoot somebody and i wouldn't lose any voters, okay? and you can tell them to go f--- themselves! you know, you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever... you gotta see this guy. ahh, i don't know what i said, ahh. "i don't remember."

license it's really a beautiful start to our sunday monday. it's 7:15 at 64 degrees in lakeland. brighter start to the day, even though we have scattered clouds remember to fall back last night. sunrise official i about 30 minutes or so ago at 6:ha. as we go to clearwater beach, we look west at clouds that i mentioned. they are streaming in from the west, and at the same time our northeast wind will trigger some shallow clouds from the east. so a little peekaboo sun action this morning. it's 67 degrees. winds not as high today, so that's good news for anyone with boating plans or headed to the beach.
7:16 am
for sure. it's 68 in st. pete and 64 in west chase, and no 70s this morning. we'll take that considering we should be at 62 to 64 degrees. that's the case in brooksville at 63, bushnell at 63, lakewood ranch at 64 degrees and inglewood looks good, too. baribtow is 64. while a few degrees cooler, from 4 in what clul la to 1 in tampa, it feels drier. air mass is dried out. brings in a little moisture. we had spotty sprinkles this morning. what's left of that, let's see if it's there. one or two west of angelo key and west of pinellas county. awe a few sprinkles on the st. pete net cams there. we are dry for you. scattered clouds from the east and west as i mentioned. there's the cold front that moved through overnight friday into saturday. that helped to drag in some drier air, which is still in play this morning. dew points are pleasant in the

outside the viewing area, that's where it feels even better thanks to the north wind. a northeast wind anywhere from 5 to 10 miles per hour this morning. it will be breezy up to about the 10 to 15-mile-per-hour range by late morning into midday near the coast. even with that cooler start, look at the 80s, and we should be at 80. 81 in brooksville today and 81 in st. pete. we actually snuck out 84 yesterday in tampa. so on futurecast clouds fading away, can't rule out a rouge springle, but it's a mainly dry and quiet day. good-looking evening turning darker earlier before 6:00. we're back to sunshine monday morning. a great day with low humidity and no rain anticipated. wednesday or thursday could sneak in a shower and then over the upcoming weekend could bring in some cooler air. 83 for today, and a bit breezy with a mix of sun and clouds. that is mild and mreven.

7:24 am
sndz welcome back. as millenials think about starting families, they want to start the same things that baby boomers traditionally have sought. you know, more space, safer neighborhoods, and school districts, good school districts, and that could revolutionize the real estate industry. justin is here joining us to talk more about that. i find in fascinating, because i hadn't heard this before. what does this mean for everyone trying to sell or rent? >> i mean, it's a good thing. you know, right now everybody
7:25 am
retirees and things like that. actually, what we're seeing is there's more millenials, people between 18 to 34 that are in the area moving to the area and really taking over. the thing is, a long of the millenials are getting used to certain things already being, you know, done with homes. they're used to large and more space. they're used to larger closets and more room and just a home more buyers are looking for, versus baby boomers used to home with more character and a little older. the new buyers, the millenials, they want brand-new, and they want maybe looks like it was never used. >> alcides: what does it mean for the market, though? >> the market will show an increase if anything. a few things factor in here. just because mill lennians want to buy homes doesn't mean they can. they've got debt coming in with
7:26 am
in addition to that, finding a job where they can qualify for maybe the type of home that they're looking for, it's not happening right off the bat. so they've got to find the right financing, but it's looking like it's going to be increasing the market a bit once more financing options become available for the millenials out here. >> let me ask you this. what does it mean for the markets in the bay area when you see changes like this? does that mean that folks are moving further out to get more space? do you think that's going to continue? what are you seeing? >> i see it continues because the millenials are to the point now where they look to purchase homes. previous to now they were more in the rental market. because the prices of homes have gone up and rental prices went up as well, so the millenials think rather than spend money on rent, we might as well buy. right now with interest rates where they are, you can't borrow money at the price it's offered at right now. it makes sense to get a mortgage if you're able to.
7:27 am
prices for something you're not going to own yet. >> is this a good or bad thing? >> it's a good thing, as long as you know, the buyers need to be educated. a lot of times the millenials get out and it's their first time buying a home. they're not sure what to look for when it comes to it. they know ha they want for sure, but they're not quite sure everything to look into when purchasing a home, what to look into with the area, what to look out for with the homes, and everything that comes along w i mean, what they have to do is educate themselves on the market and figure out what it is that they're really looking to purchase in the end. are they looking to move to an area for the location and distance to certain amenities, or are they looking for an investment standpoint and to pick it up. i only see good things coming from it. it means more home purchases and people keep coming to the area here. >> i agree.
7:28 am
important thing. >> absolutely. >> coming up in the next half hour or so, we're following a news alert out of hillsborough county. a car drives off an overpass killing a father and his two children. his wife survives. kellie cowan will have a live report after the break. you'll see traffic is slow-moving along i-75 near state road 60. we follow this developing story on "good day." stay with us. . >> lindsay: at 7:28 and a sunrise is an hour earlier, and i tell you what. it is a little refreshing out the door. we're in the low to mid-60s this morning. a great beach day. not as gusty but still a bill breezy. it's 68 this sirata beach, low 80s making a comeback this afternoon with a few more clouds. clouds. if you're ready hillary clinton: i'm hillary clinton and i approve this message. vo: in times of crisis america depends on steady leadership. donald trump: "knock the crap out of them, would you? seriously..."vo: clear thinking... donald trump: "i know

7:32 am
it's comfortable. look at our dew points in the low to mid-60s. we can handle that. we saw a few sprinkles this morning but those exited. what we'll deal with are a few clouds and a nice breeze and warming temperatures. next couple of days we'll be in the low 80s with more clouds by mid-week and a shower. it's the weekend, not today but next weekend that could feature slightly cooler temperatures on the seven-day forecast as well as our rain chances in about 15 minutes, alcides. >> alcides: thank you. pasco county deputies arrest a pair of siblings behind a strong of car burglaries. they both face grand sheft auto charges. they broke into two cars and took one earlier in the week in the pine ridge subdivision. investigators believe they're also responsible for car break-ins in the seven oaks neighborhoods. disney has been given the green light to fly drones at

the week. will stream in from the west ahead of a small rainmaker for us. i'll hint on that after we look at the current radar, which is quiet. skytower showed a few sprinkles earlier well north of new port richey area and now the sprinkles are offshore. the rain chance is less than 10%. dew points are the low 60s and a little higher the further south you live. when we sneak in the mid-60s, those are moderate humidity values. mid-week with more clouds and a little extra moisture, maybe not as comfortable on wednesday and thursday, by next weekend, though, signs point to a cooldown and drying our air mass out some. winds out of the northeast today. this morning they're at about 5 to 10 miles per hour. they will be breezy this afternoon as we still have the gradient from high pressure to the north and our cold front frm a few days ago to the south. really quiet and cool and crisp and fall-like from chicago to bristol to raleigh this morning.
7:52 am
fairly quiet national map. we have a surge of mild air across texas and a couple of pockets of really slow-moving downpours including in houston. they had a dry stretch. some of that moisture may slip our way wednesday and thursday. so in the wake of rain chances 20% or less, we're not talking about a big rainmaker. temperatures are still running above average. should be at about 80, 83 is manageable today and tomorrow. we actually hit 84 yesterday, but at least the nights and the mornings are nice and in brooksville, 64 in tampa, 64 in lake placid and 67 in st. pete. futurecast really pinpointing the tranquil pattern. watch the wind arrows grow in size with the breeze. the northeast wind does favor sprinkles on the east coast. we can't rule out one or two inland. really nothing worth canceling the plans all week long. comfortable to start out the day on monday. a couple of clouds into the afternoon, not as many as today. for election day the weather
7:53 am
watch the front to the north. this one doesn't make it, but this disturbance makes it close enough to us to mainly toss some clouds our way, and then it's the upcoming weekend as early as friday night into saturday, you may see cooler air and "may" is the keyword. we have to tweak the models through the week. for certain for today's forecast, it's a nice day and 83 and scattered clouds and a bit breezy. it's cooler the further north you that's the trade-off. darker earlier. 83 with low humidity and a mix of sun and clouds on monday. voting is a little breezy but no advisories. there's the northeast wind at 10 to 15 knots. low tides are a little after lunchtime at 12:46. st. pete pier and seven-day forecast forecast, what a week and great nor election day. a few showers wednesday and looking ahead to veterans day is 80 degrees and 70s next weekend. fingers crossed it holds
