>> thank you. >> state leaders and federal officials say they are ready for any chaos that could happen in polling places in florida and around the country. for weeks vote vote's experts say they are concerned over this historically bitter presidential race. and want people to be prepared for any issue. nonpartisan umbrella organization called election protection has 4500 legal volunteers answering questions over the phone. here's the 1-866-our-vote. there are also be nearly 2500 legal volunteers in polling locations. many of those in florida where there are some concerns over possible long waits. now not just the presidential race but also at at stake when it comes to at local races and those controversial amendments. and there seems to be a lot of confusion over amendment 1. the so-called solar energy amendment. it gives utility companies the
8:06 am
customers way to compensate for people who don't by any electricity. backed by more than $20 million from utility companies. and it appears to be pro solar. but several solar energy groups say this will actually restrict solar growth by raising the cost. other controversial measure is amendment 2. legalize medical marijuana for those suffering from debilitating diseases. critics fear this would lead to pop up marijuana dispensaries with little oversight. amendment's wording to distress those concerns. right right now many state polls show support is above 60 percent needed but that's based on a poll not actually votes. similar measure failed in 2014, after only receiving 58 percent of the vote. >> there's also the hotly contested senate race. people are watching to see if senator marco rube will keep the seat he's held since 2011. right now quinnipiac shows rubio is leading the democratic candidate that's patrick murphy
8:07 am
spent more than $18 million on tv ads. that's compared to the 8.7 million spent by murphy and his supporters usf pro tesser says since beginning a dirty campaign full of personal attacks with very little time spent discussing actually issues. another big race to watch is one between congressman david jolly and former florida governor charlie crist. fox news named florida 13th district the fourth most >> david jolly seeking reelection, but it may not happen. a recent poll shows christmas slight lead and a democratic cam initial races on red to blue program. something to show you here just about an hour of a polls opened in new york, presidential candidate hillary clinton and her husband the former president cast their votes in chappaqua near the connecticut border

election day. and this is how it greets you outside. it is beautiful. sirata beach, east winds at 15. and it's going to remain breezy along the coast for the next few hours. and then the winds will start to slacken up a little bit during afternoon brook dale bay shore cam ram where it's 65 degrees. that east wind. at 13. and equally as beautiful are lakeland net camera overlooking lake mirror this morning. where north, northeast winds at 5 miles per hour temperature running around 63 degrees. we're good to go today. i mean, it's not only our state though, most of the country the weather looks fantastic. and mild for this election day. few showers back off toward the northwest. as they punch through the in toward our area tomorrow, we may get more cloud cover. but we're just not anticipating in any rain. it will stay relatively quiet over next several days. other than a few more clouds on
8:14 am
afternoon. very, very pleasant. tonight, variable clouds, low 66 degrees. and then back to 78 tomorrow under mostly cloudy skies. big question mark for sprinkle. i don't think many of us will get that. if you happen to make it in the north. we're looking good. i mean we've got veterans day on friday. lot of outdoor festivities weather looks great. looks like we will upper 70s from friday through monday afternoon. vanessa. very nice. thanks, dave. and we're looking live here in pinellas. that. entrance ramp to get off the pinellas point drive on to northbound 275 is blocked right now. you can see we have a crash that's completely blogging off the on ramp. we also have shut down lanes in this area. sop drivers please avoid this area. if you're looking to access 275, of course your next alternate will be just one entrance ramp to north. 54th avenue south. keep in mind fur agoing to using 31st to access 54th we're seeing
8:15 am
no big surprise since folks will be detoured off around this area. >> so we'll get closer to brandon here. hillsborough county, disabled vehicle reported along northbound 75. this is at the state road 60 area. good news not blocking any lanes. but it looks a bit slow in this area. so make sure you're using caution. left shoulder i saw an earlier camera shot is going to blocked up here. most of your delays reported basically from 60 all way back beyond the selman expressway congestion back towards u.s. 30 one. then, we want to get sarasota. university parkway. we have a crash there. it's at i-75. big concern is going to be eastbound direction two lanes blocked and looking very slow in that direction. all right. vanessa. bringing a baby into the home not only adjustment for the parents, for me and natalie will be an adjustment also our
8:16 am
of course this week we've doing all sorts of things getting him him reed daddy boot camp so to speak. introducing the baby to the dog. that you've had for a number of years. for number of years the dog said wait a minute i'm boss now i'm no longer boss. megan joining us from spca of tampa bay. okay. this is how did you come up with this program snm this only one in country. it is i'm very fortunate you have to be licensed presenter through the program. so i went through program with a lady names jennifer in north carolina. got licensed. but this is such an important program to help families get more comfortable, more confident, not be scared. and also we offer it in hospitals as part of prebirthing program. tampa bay general hospital, florida hospital, tampa. we're very lucky to have those partnerships. obviously you saw a need. what were some of the things and needs and desires and concerns almost other things people were voicing to you? >> so we have behavior help line
8:17 am
my dog is fill in blank whatever breed that was. and they were really concerned. they had heard history mom had seen something dad had had an animal at some point that scared him. now they are calling us for help. we also unfortunately had folks surrendering just felt like they were so scared and so worried that they brought us their pet. that breaks my heart. >> yeah. we don't want to see that. no. how do you get those two to play nice? i know there's an introduction that has to we first bring baby home. know that's about mom and dad and baby and bonding. the dog i do encourage you to bring baby home, have mom sit down have treats available to gries is getting hot dogs and string cheese this morning be rewarding dog for quiet and calm behavior around the baby. okay. so what is it about the dog
8:18 am
obviously baby cries, it eats and sleeps. one of the three of those two of them will disrupt the dog because when it is food time. >> when baby the crying not exactly pleasant for dog either >> no it's not. their sense of smell, their sense of hearing is so much more refined than ours is. if you think about a baby an everybody gets up and goes running to see. we have to help the dog also cope with that out that hurt, that's hearing sensitive how can get c d of baby crying youtube as great videos play it really quiet so dog doesn't necessarily respond lots of treats and quiet calm behaviors and start turning it up a little bit louder. dogs can feel neglected as soon as baby comes home. >> yeah. how can everybody play nice, especially parents, show some attention toward the dog. >> exactly all about bonding time. right? we want to make sure we give dog
8:19 am
that also helps the family preserve their bond, right? where mom and dad start to feel detached from their dog. because, now your baby is on board. one of the things i recommend food puzzle toy. i brought her one. make food puzzle toy sit on couch and just toss them some treats so instead of getting dinner from a dish, all you have to do just hand them their hey, good girl. you have to toss their treats and a really simple way to bond with your dog. let them chase the cookies. i do want to mention you said that training can go as far as smelling feet and faces. so, with infants especially the stakes are pretty high here. so i really want to encourage dogs to come check out their feet. go sniff. good girl. good girl. >> good job. >> so let dog investigate, but never their face.
8:20 am
spca tampa bay. thank you so much. good luck. congratulations. great information. great information. >> i'm feeling more comfortable russell with each one of these getting more and more comfortable. i like the way you're holding that. you've got that by head and neck by the head and neck i'm told. >> see you later, man. >> we have a warning for you about fake apps. three things before you download anything even if it looks legit. and then grab your attention? we can tell you how coming up at 9. polls opened a little over an hour ago. this is live look at one of them over in pinellas county. pretty quiet. pretty quiet. we'll get live update from jen coming up at 8:30. putting a wife to work is a very dangerous thing. when i come home and dinner's not ready i go through the roof.

it doesn't seem like it's going to happen. but their plan is, if they know something they are going to tell us. you think that's the truth? >> what do you guys think? well i mean, you know it sounds like they have a plan. well, i hope it's friendly. right. i hope they don't just show up. that's the thing. i mean, you know that would the worth part. i mean you've got 100 years on me there. door. what this article says they believe we would get a signal before somebody would just show up. >> like hey we're on our way. i don't know. it just seems like more and more of these stories are coming out. are they not telling us something? >> they've watching tv they are not coming. >> they've watching tv. they are not coming. but you know, we made it to all of hollywood movies that aren't helping either.

you it's, it's study done out of mit. so it took me three or four times to read this article to understand it. but it is fascinating. and all has to do with spinach. spinach now as you mentioned before spinach no longer super food. they've done this mit scientists have embedded in the leaves carbon nano tubes. okay. now those carbon this is the most amazing thing. they are basically sensors that canady text explosives and then wirelessly relay that information to a smart phone. now i don't know how practical this is. let me tell you why. because i mean what are you going to do? just bring spinach plants all over world and set them in places see if there explosive. there's more of n an underlying tone. what i believe they are trying to do is trying to communicate
8:48 am
for humans to communicate with plants. now stay with me. i might have lost you a bit. okay. so here we go. if there's any explosive molecules in the ground water, that could take ten minutes for plant to draw them up. they would mitt a signal you can get on your smart phone. i think what they are trying to do try to find way to detect other types of pollution and/or drought. let me give you an example. let's say something gets into local ground plants within 10, 15, 20 minutes. you might be able to save them, you know versus them all dying. or, if you know whether plant will detect a drought is coming, it's basically their way of communicating to us. that's what these carbon nano tubes can do. i don't know why they started the study by trying to find explosives. because yeah. it has to be in ground for that. >> yeah but i think that was the
8:49 am
in to realize. >> until they got the grant. >> that's how they got the grant. but think about this, if you can have plants as farmers that can de detect drought and detect something ground water say mercury ahead of time or as it is happening you can save a lot of money. you can get better crop yields. i think that's the end result from this study. it's almost like our way of learning how to communicate with plants. because they can't talk back to until now. i mean it's such a fascinating study. we were excited to talk about this >> yeah. it is interesting. really? >> okay. well you really did explain it well. it's from mit. okay. well. got it. have fun, guys. >> all right. thank you. >> all right. to charley we go. yes. my head's hurting right now. charleys what's going on man. i will make your heat stop
