deputies are shot and killed a man in pinellas county, it happened inside duval park, a community for disabled veterans and their families. let's get right out to josh cascio for the latest. what happened out there, josh. >> this is the toughest kind of story to have to report the night before thanksgiving. at this hour there are still investigators on scene trying to piece this together but here is what we know. around call reference a domestic dispute between a boyfriend and his girlfriend, and when they came in contact with the man in committee, he was holding a large knife and he reportedly said you are going to have to kill me and after repeated commands to develop the knife,

55-year-old alan moore, the man place say shot and killed him. >> there was an argument and that escalated to violence. >> neighbo neighbors heard a gud called police. officers arrived to find wright with a gunshot wound to the chest and they quickly learned that will the friend has just left the home. >> we felt that the man was trying to free the area. >> as he drove from pinellas county into hillsborough county county, and it was a tampa officer who spotted his camper on u.s. 301. and after they flashed their lights several times he pulled over and gave up without resistance. what led him to shoot his friend is still unclear.

had to be given oxygen with a pet mask. and one cat is still missing. the family says this is just heartbreaking after the holiday but they are thankful that everyone got out okay. >> and despite losing their home, this family is lucky. the father was his baby. a neighborhood alerted mark kagler that his home was on fun, fire, and the fire was able to rescue his infant son, his wife was in the hospital from campily indications after giving birth. and the fire appeared to be complicated by electrical issues in the house, and neighbors came

>> tonight two people in the tampa bay area have died in separate crashes. one on i-75 in brandon and the other in palm harbor on alternate 19. skyfox was over the scene of this one and you see just how bad this accident west. the driver of the jeep died and three people in the pickup truck were seriously injured. troopers say no one vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, and across the country about 50 million people are taking a trip to the holiday weekend, this is bumper to bumper traffic in los angeles and this is the busiest holiday travel driving season in nine years. and today was the busiest day and sunday will, too.

temperatures getting back above average, and when you think about this thanksgiving four-day spstretch for a lot of you, this is pretty average, highs around 80 and lows around 60, pretty typical for th thanksgiving. it's been a dry month and we have had many months recorded in our climate history and we have 100th on the see rain as a cold front heads our way, but it will be dry, and it won't be dry in the northeast with rain and show wet and damp in chicago and your thanksgiving forecast, it's okay, there is really an absence of arctic cold, and chicago land, cloudy and new york city, may get to

today from a charity that helps people. >> volunteers from habitat for humanity spend their day before thanksgiving lending a hand to the humane society of pinellas. they lent some elbow grease to help repair some of the damaged kennels. >> it was not draining and it was going to be about $3,000 to 2006 anfixand that was reducingr of animals we could take the drain we'll be a able to hep more animals. >> and they also painted and cleaned the clearwater facility as well, and so bravo to them. >> isn't that fantastic? working together they will be able to take in more dogs and cats. and the tampa bay lightning were
