throughout the community. hello, i'm bruce johnson. thanks for joining us this mother's day. tonight the roommate of three georgetown university students who were tied up and robbed is speaking out. three men broke in the home early saturday morning. that's where britt moore is standing by. >> reporter: six young men lived here. five are georgetown students. four of those five students are football players. there were only two that were home at the time when a man knocked on the door in the middle of the night asking about someone. he wasn't wearing a mask but the two men who snuck in behind him were and they were also holding guns. >> they threw them down, tied them up. punched the girl and threw her to the ground of the started kicking my roommates. >> reporter: the story gives him chills. >> my roommate called me and we just got robbed. >> one of the masked men with guns ran in. >> reporter: he shows us the room where two of the roommates

and a friend were tied up. >> they went through the house. everyone's rooms were ransacked. >> reporter: he said the robbers left with laptops and cell phones but not what they were there for. >> apparently they were looking for one of the roommates had left suddenly on thursday. he was like i can't pay the rent, i'm just going to head home. sorry guys. >> he wasn't going to school. >> reporter: he shows us the room of the roommate who skipped town. he was the only nonstudent in the house. a craigslist found. >> one of the roommates, actually led him to the house at gun point. >> they made him show them. >> yes, this is his room. >> reporter: the incident happened at the home around midnight on saturday and a police car has been parked here ever since. but ryan and his roommates say they are still too nervous to stay here overnight. >> none of them really want to sleep in the house. i'm not really sure if i'm going to or not. last night i slept at my cousin's house in fairfax.

inside of government, people outside of government and that's something that we have to investigate and more importantly the pakistani government has to investigate. >> reporter: a top u.s. official says the investigation into what the pakistani government may have known needs to include interviews with bin laden's three widows who were living with him. >> they need to provide us with intelligence from the compound that they gathered including access to osama bin laden's three wives whom they have in custody. >> reporter: u.s. national security advisor tom don lon also says intelligence material that navy s.e.a.l.s sealed could fill a small college library. pakistani authorities gathered additional evidence. despite the questions about who helped hide bin laden both democrats and republicans say pakistan is a much needed ally. >> everybody has to understand that even if the getting of osama bin laden the pakistanis were helpful. we have people on the ground in pakistan because they allow us to have them. >> pakistan is a critical factor in the war against

terror. our war, the world's war against it. simply because there are a lot of terrorists in pakistan. >> reporter: the peanut butteri government denies it had any knowledge of where bin laden was living. >> there are reports tonight of two explosions in the town where osama bin laden was killed. witnesses don't know the source of the blast but there has been speculation that authorities might destroy the complex to try and stop the intense media attention it is getting. the accolades continue to pour in for the navy s.e.a.l.s. people are sending messages of thanks through a website. when a page dedicated to the could leave a message and the messages will be delivered, all of them. there is more on our web page wusa9.com. interview with president obama airs with our newscast on wusa9.com. tonight ot 9news now at 11 p.m. we will have reactions from family members of 9/11 victims. elsewhere a delta air lines plane diverted to new mexico over what authorities say was a potential security threat. flight 1706 was en route from detroit to san diego when the decision was made to land the plane in alburquerque. tonight authorities are releasing few details but an fbi spokesman said the plane was taken to a remote area of the airport. no suspicious devices were found on the plane and the flight was later cleared to fly again. restaurants on the georgetown waterfront back in business three weeks after some serious flooding there and donors were relieved to see the big mother's day crowd. some regular customers expressed concern for familiar servers who were thrown out of work by the sudden closing but they were surprised how quickly they recovered from the damage. some moms enjoying brunch on

people are recovering tonight after a commuter train crash in new jersey. the train ran into an abutment as it was pulling into the station. most of the injured suffered

cuts and bruises. the causes has not been identified but it appears mechanical failure happened. not too soon for the residents of memphis, tennessee, spending the last several days stacking up sandbags to prohect homes and businesses from the floodwaters. today officials went door-to- door warning some 240 people to leave their homes as a safety precaution. in all, more than 1300 people have been told to go. close to 400 are staying in shelters tonight. the situation is also worrisome for tourists. >> we are very concerned because we realized it is all unpredictable and we do not want to be stuck here in memphis and we don't want to have to flee in a hurry. >> the current flooding is just shy of the record 49.7-foot devastating flood back in 1937. damages in southwest virginia after more than two

dozen tornadoes struck is not severe enough for the area to get financial help. that's what the federal government is saying tonight. fema has denied virginia's request for federal disaster assistance. state officials are disappointed because the money is needed to build or repair more than 200 destroyed homes and 1000 more that were damaged. the governor says he just might appeal that decision. happy mother's day to all of you out there. and great weather. at least where i was it was great weather. >> for the most of the area we are looking at nice conditions. a slight chance for showers an sprinkles popping up tonight but very slight and really not measurable as far as if we do get anything around here as far as how much we will get. but overall though, yes, it was a great day. temperature got to 74. the official high at reagan national. great day to be out for brunch today. took my mom out today.
