I'm no racist myself (why would you be one?) but this was very harmless outside of the stereotypes. Otherwise, Bugs faces off with a black hunter and goof off. Mostly, it's typical Bugs-Elmer type shenanigans and silly antics pop off the screen - with this being the first ever "turning the log" gag appearance that would be used in many later cartoons, such as (what I think is) "Hare-Do". However, this cartoon suffers from the fact that it doesn't really do anything to particularly stand out. Besides a new antagonist, the setting is rather plaid out, and no enhancing gimmick comes with that fact. The best things about Bugs cartoons are seeing what wacky situations he gets himself into, while this is rather boring.
I will admit, this was made in 1941, only a few "Bugs" had existed yet, so putting into context, this doesn't really hold up all that well. If not that many of these existed, I think I would've given this a respectful 8 or maybe 9.
Also final Tex Avery cartoon, sadly I think I've only watched two of his cartoons in general, that's not good.
6/10 cartoon, 10/10 find, as this has no
a.a.p. logo.
