Subject: Live Dead
Subject: Live Dead
Was at this show. Didn't realize at the time that the 2nd set was virtually the entire Live Dead album. Sans the Bid you Goodnight. We missed 1/2 the first set due to the line outside the gate. And buddy's issue with his phone ticket. Got in during the Brown Eyed Women. Loved the Sugaree 2nd set opener. Thought the St Stephen was spectacular. Didn't have the usual mid song interlude. Thought they really rode the rhythm there. A Rockin' Casey Jones for my New York buddy made the evening,

Subject: 25th birthday, 6th Dead & Co. Show JERRY IN THE CLOUDS/BEST SHAKEDOWN
HIGHLIGHTS:
SET 1:
BIG RAILROAD BLUES.
After set break me and some young sober kid from Ohio were stargazing and I saw a Jerry shaped face in the clouds. He noted it was squished, so I'm like that means you see it too, though. I kept watching it. It moved and flattened to the point it actually looked like 1995 Jerry. Beard, hair, glasses, eyes and a mouth. Right under the moon. I was hoping they'd play Standing On the Moon at that point, (but then we got that epic Dark Star.) The Jerry cloud within a very short time dispersed as I told everyone about it and I looked up and realized the cloud was actually a very low patch of fog maybe? It quickly flew right over our heads, right at the stage. But it hovered in front of the moon for a long moment. I was hoping somebody got a picture of the cloud. My phone was off and by the time I turned it on the cloud was flying over our heads. The first set was honestly a stinker in my opinion after seeing 5 other shows in the past.. But that big railroad blues was kick ass, and it really weirded me out that the Jerry cloud rolled in just as the music was warming up.happened. I stargazed for all of Dark Star, later hearing there was some sort of space station flyover.
ALL OF SET 2
Bob vocally delivered The Eleven in a way that gave me goosebumps, and his vocal being solo on that section stands out more to me than say avalon 68 the eleven with the shared vocals. Fight me on lot.
Death Don't Have No Mercy was SPOOKY!!
I see them at Deer Creek every year and I've been to 2 Columbus shows. This was like the weakest of them all for me personally because I've heard most of these songs in better form. But it was still very magical. They getter better everytime I see them, but I prefer most of the older versions of the songs I heard. This tour Johnny was bugging me with the falsetto vocals and his way of making it sound like himself is more apparent this tour. They love eachother it worked. But I think the boys are tired and this show should've went down in 2020 if it wasn't for stupid covid. That being said, something mystical happened. I had the best lot experience I've ever had, showed up early and parked next to all the VW busses at the end of shakedown. Had the best grilled cheese of my life, with bacon in every mother fucking bite. I sang with Harry Perry and snagged some cool shirts. It was THE best shakedown. Before we left our car 2 people gave us/threw at us free party favors. It was my birthday and we kept getting little miracles.
