The new City Manager announcement: Last week the Golden City Council voted unanimously to approve a resolution appointing Scott Vargo as the City of Golden’s new City Manager. Vargo is currently the County Manager for Summit County, Colo. His expected start date with the City of Golden is September 12, 2022.
Community Wildfire Meetings: Since last Thursday, the Fire Department, along with Golden’s Parks and Recreation Department and our friends from JeffCo Open Space – have hosted TWO community meetings so far about the City’s Wildfire Protection Plan. Those meetings were in Southwest Golden and the Beverly Heights neighborhoods.
This week, you can find our Fire Department holding community meetings in Golden Terrace and near downtown Golden.
The Golden Terrace meeting will take place on Thursday, July 21st, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM in the Golden Terrace Clubhouse
The meeting for South Table Mountain, Downtown and Table Mountain Parkway neighborhoods will take place on Saturday, July 23rd, 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM in DeLong Park
Upcoming City events with first responders:
Mark your calendars for the 48th Annual Golden Fire Department Pancake Breakfast. Itwill be on the morning of Saturday July 30th from 6 AM until 10 AM at Station 1 in downtown Golden.
A few days after the fun Pancake Breakfast with Firefighters will be National Night Out with the Golden Police on August 2nd. The Golden Police Department invite you to our 20th annual National Night Out event from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2nd in Parfet Park on the corner of 10th Street and Washington Avenue. Join the Golden Police Department for live music, performances, raffle prizes, free food, and drink, and much more – including the Flight for Life Helicopter!
