Committee on Homeland Security - mars-4:hrs04H_S311_090318b.1 - Cannon 311 - 100% Air Cargo Screening: Can We Secure America's Skies? (Part 1 of 2) - Subcommittee on Transportation Security and Infrastructure Protection. Ms. Jackson-Lee: Today, this Subcommittee will continue its commitment to robust oversight of one of the most important issues addressed by Congress in the 9/11 Act: the screening of cargo on commercial passenger aircraft. This is my second hearing on this issue as Chairwoman of this Subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over aviation security, and we will continue to monitor TSA's progress in screening cargo during the 111th Congress. I look forward to engaging with my colleagues on the Subcommittee, and learning from our witnesses about how TSA and industry are working together to achieve the cargo-screening mandate. This mandate is a critical step toward securing aviation. The Subcommittee is determined to work with the new Administration and conduct thoughtful oversight to make sure that we can move forward and complete implementation of this essential element of the 9/11 Act.
