"Imagining the changing role of the college/university in the 21st century"
An urban college has a unique opportunity for connecting its knowledge and expertise to the issues in the community that result in mutually beneficial relationships. The range of opportunities will be identified and defined. The current initiatives such as the West Side Violence Prevention Task Force with a coalition of over 50 people will be explained as one example â an example that is currently underway with a grant from the US Dept. of Justice. Helping to stabilize and improve the West Side of Buffalo, helps the entire community better appreciate the art, architecture, history and nature that exists in the various West Side neighborhoods that are located near Buffalo State College.
