why wouldn't he as we saw, for example, with presidential candidate john edwards, let it leak that there was a grand jury investigation, an investigation at least, so that people would at least have a red flag on this guy, rather than, you know, parents still letting their children go out with this guy to public events or events that ultimately became private, unfortunately? >> well, we don't know what the exact timeline was. attorney general corbett's investigation of mr. sandusky. we don't know precisely when he had probable cause to arrest sandusky, how many victims he had come forward, at what points along the spectrum here. and i would not leap to a judgment that tom corbett did anything wrong here whatsoever. i think that the commentary about what his office did or didn't do is the wrong focus. the focus ought to be on mr. sandusky, who is accused of 40 counts of child sexual assault and related offenses. megyn: there's no question that -- the facts are that sandusky is the bad guy here but it's a legitimate inquiry to find out whether the attorney general should have somehow alert

megyn: john edwards. only the national enquirer was covering that. >> at first, because that was a real hot potato and if the media was wrong about something of that magnitude, they would open themselves up for lawsuits. megyn: they could ruin a presidential campaign. what's happening here? >> i have to say i never thought herman cain was a real serious candidate. he's been promoting this book. even in ohio, in the midst of this drama, even in the campaign, everyone is focusing on iowa and new hampshire, he's in ohio promoting his book. i never thought that herman cain was a serious candidate. the problem is even while these women have credibility issues, he has credibility issues. his story keeps changing, and nine the bottom line is the truth does not change. megyn: how much can you blame this on herman cain, how much can you blame this on his advisers? because there's a scathing piece in politico today, talking about how, you know, even on the latest allegation, the campaign came out through the lawyer

edwards story. and even clarence thomas' accusor was treated with much morey specht than bill clinton's accusor. give you one example. paula jones when she was a state employee in arkansas, accused bill clinton who was the governor of summoning her to a motel room an and exposing himself in front of her. given bill clinto her. she was slimed, they said what do you expect from a sleazy woman with big hair. what has always bothered me, and i know these people intimately. what has always bothered me about them was their elitism. they are describing this accuse tpher the herman cain case as an ivy league graduate. how that is relevant is beyond me, but paula jones, she had big hair, she spoke with a southern accent, she wasn't terribly well educated, she just went to high school. that kind of elitism is disgusting and the permeates the mainstream media. megyn: do you think that the mainstream media or others in the media have been giving too much of a pass to these anonymous allegations. politico chose
