improve life for more people, how to make an expensive city more affordable to more people, how to utilize the strengths of the city as a great tourist city. how we can get more folks to come and experience the wonders of the city. maybe they will make their stake here. these panel members have decided to make their stake here. they risked reputation, may be small amounts of money. if they had a lot of money, they may not have had to start this. they have also done it for the right reasons. they want to experience the city in a different way, but one that is in the tradition of san francisco and is reflective of mine, welcoming more people to share in the economy. hopefully the right reasons will create more jobs and get more entrepreneurs involved. i have often said this can be the city for the 100%. everybody can have a chance to fulfill their dreams and make sure they can have a stable income for themselves and their families. i think we are on the verge of discussing things that would invite other members of our city family, department heads, those who work in planning or land use, to

the city, and to the mayor directly. it is so closely tied to what makes san francisco such a beautiful city, and so closely site -- tied to what makes san francisco -- what makes people want to come to san francisco and live in this city. it is important to what we do and many of the businesses that exist here on an ongoing basis. we have 16 million visitors a year. that is in no small part due to the activities associated with the night life and this city. that is not lost on all of us. one of the things that i think it's important to the mayor and myself as i sit here today, and i know that you guys are going to be focusing on, i looked out and i see so many pieces of the city family here engaged in this conversation. i think it is really a measurable thing that you have the chief of police introducing today's conversation and today's forum with you in addition to having the board of supervisors as civil the understand the work that you and why it is so important. having individuals like -- one of the board members sp

it is the city's intent that, to the greatest extent possible, other non-city resources replace lost assistance whenever such resources are available. recipients of losp must agree to work diligently with city staff to identify and obtain other potential operating assistance if and when it becomes available. we just recently had one of our projects, veterans comments, move off the local operating subsidy list, because we were notified that the city and county of san francisco not 200-section 8's, so the project will apply for 60 of the vash section 8's, and it has been awarded 15 mckinny, so all the units will be supported by other federal subsidy. the next slide is going to show your numbers the plan called for the creation of 3000 units. moh has identified 2958 units targeted to homeless that we now have in our pipeline. although with the dissolution of the redevelopment agency and a significant reduction or elimination of local, state, and federal resources, our pipeline has been slowed over the last few years, making progress slower for bringing new units online. in 2012-2013, we

going back to my slides of my favorite cities. amsterdam, berlin, how was this different than other districts in san francisco? second, i think about this -- how easy is the city to be used, to be navigated? we look at new york city, and the blocks are very narrow and long, and if you stand in the intersection, you can immediately tell if you are moving to the north or south, or east and west in the city. how does -- how do the plan marks and districts, the orientation -- when you move through, you are moving on top of the rich with the topography, and you also look to the towers of the next plaza, so you find your way through the city. these qualities are built with urban fabrics. for me, urban fabrics talk about how individual parts fit together. this is not just continuity of public spaces, but the interweaving of public and private, together. seeing these cities as fabrics -- allows them to design this within a project but within the district and within the city. in my research, the landscapes that flourished and endure are ri

families i know who have left the city, and gone to the east bay. this is something that we explored at the revenue coalition to report this measure. we affirmed that these are the conditions that many of us experienced and are experiencing again, and we thought that also, we wanted to look at not just generating revenue, but also how we do the business tax structure, we would tax something different, with a much more progressive -- with the changes that we see in san francisco. we go into this eyes wide open. the supervisor does remind me about this -- there is a real estate transfer tax and i have this right down to the department of elections, i will be pulling that back. they had one measure going forward. i want to keep my commitment with pulling my name back from the real-estate transfer tax, so that we can go forward with one measure this november. >> supervisor? >> thank you. i want to thank them for being able to work out a compromise, with one tax measure going to the ballot. i respect the views of supervisor campos, because it is importan
