san jose state university police are investigating the city's third homicide of the weekend. a man was found dead in a parked car near the campus tennis courts on humble street yesterday morning. police have not released any information about the victim or cause of death. they say it's unclear if the man died where he was or somewhere else in the city. on saturday night a woman was stabbed to death at a home on dakota drive. on friday a 46-year-old man was shot. >>> we are learning more about a deadly shooting in west berkeley. they found a man that had been shot just before 6:00 last night. that man was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. the berkeley blog reports the man was visiting friends before the shooting and as a graduate of berkeley high at least one person has been -- this will be the first time that the two sides will meet. both sides still disagree on pay and benefits. the cooling off period ends october 10th. if no deal is reached before then bart workers could go on strike again. >>> big crowds on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. >>> tragedy at t

university. most of these are in form of general education courses which qualify towards an advanced degree, science, math and social sciences and humanities. 41 percent of rolement are in non-credit courses. most of these are in basic came support. in terms of options, if city college were to close we looked at what options city college students would have for alternative programs. if they are legible to transfer to the csu or other college, they could in fact transfer. while a lot of the courses are transferable credits, student may not need the minimum credit requirements and may have other reasons for which they can't transfer. about 14 hundred students transfer to csu or uc. if they were to transfer, we compare to years at city college to a comparable 2 years at csu and the difference is about $10,000 per student and the other area is lack of space at the csu. we looked at the csu in the bay area, san jose is impacted which means they have more qualified students than they have space. csu, t

twenty years ago i was a regular rider of the 49 putting myself through san francisco state university and working at the square and i had to take the 49 up and down van ness and it was one of the most painful rides in the city. later, as i've evolved in my understanding about transit work, i also started to figure out this is one of the most expensive systems to run and the way to move our transit, to move folks around the city. when i learned about this particular project, i couldn't be more excited. the member that stood out for me more than anything else was the 30 percent reduction of operations cost and the way that we would run service along this line. as you all know very well, this particular project has tremendous potential to be a parodyne shift for the way we run transit in san francisco. the kind of shift something like the bart system itself was or like any of the streetcar systems in the past and/or the light rail vehicle systems that we have. this system itself effectively could become the way that we redo the way that we move around san francisco and i'm thinking about
