that's the warning going out across the peninsula tonight. there's been a rash of car burglaries in neighboring cities. in mountain view alone, 50 burglaries since the first of the month. this is a seasonal crime of opportunity that happens in large parking lots. >> electronics, lap stop, small cameras and things like that. if you can walk around and see them, that's going to make you more of a target. sheriff's deputy say two men were found dead on what looks to be a floating meth lab. the sheriff's department towed a boat to ria vista today. deputies found the houseboat and the bodies monday. they were looking for two men whose family members said they went out fishing but never came home. when deputies boarded boat, they saw equipment used to make meth and notice an odor. they evacuated the boat without removing the bodies today. >> you may want to be aware of the water along the coast this holiday weekend. plus -- >> the city suffered first of all, the loss of the security that we all enjoy. >> the day history stopped in san francisco, ma

for the peninsula, temperatures in the 60s. 62 across the marina and the embarcadero at 64. and for the east bay and tri valley, you can see we'll have partly cloudy skies in santa rosa with 65. and the tri valley will have some of the warmest temperatures with potentially 67 in livermore. now we do know we have that scrolling seven day at the bottom of your screen. we want to reenforce that pattern over the next three days. friday, saturday, and sunday, in the south bay, not only sunnier, but warmer. by sunday, temperatures in the upper 60s. you'll also find across the peninsula, it will cool off a little bit on saturday. we'll go back up through sunday. it definitely looks like sunday is going to be the best day for us, even in san francisco, temperatures approaches 70 degrees by sunday. we could even have low 70s by sunday in the north bay and also for the trivalley. temperatures right about 70 degrees. all in all, a pretty sweet forecast coming our way. and you can see in that is hen day, you're going to want to enjoy their friday, saturday and sunday, because by next we

here's what the peninsula looked like sunday night. thick smoke and the smell of burning metal, burning plastic filled the air. the smoke got as far as the south bay, which prompted authorities to put out those alerts. if you see or smell the smoke, it's best to just stay inside. the warning went out to parts of san ma day owe, alameda counties. we found some people not listening. >> they said it was dangerous, like if you breathe it in, it might cause cancer. >> what were you guys doing outside. >> reporter: unfortunately sing metal had another incident a few years ago. the,pa found cases of toxic lead, mercury seeping from the port -- or from the facility into the bay. kpix 5. >>> there was another smoky fire at the same recycling plant back in 2007. that fire burned for almost 24 hours before it was put out. smoke drifted over much of the bay area. officials fined metal management for that fire >>> 6:02 on this veteran's day. >> anything but a quiet holiday commute. two traffic alerts out there. the first one? san francisco by cesar

two more projects both in the peninsula. cfsa transmission upgrade. that project is now 80 percent done. we are currently, we have completed work on one added in each of the reservoirs. we are also well along on the work at the crystal springs pump station. by early or first month of 2014. we will have completed work on two outlet structures in the san andreas and the pump station as well as the lower cover under the upper crystal springs dam. all that will be remaining is one outlet in the crystal springs reservoir which will be completed in 2014. what i would like to mentioned is that a lot of these facilities have the ability to move water. so operation has not been impacted significantly by some of the these project difficulties. still some remaining in relations to the under water work that has yet to be completed on the project. i have been very happy with some of the progress made on resolving some of the various outstanding changes that we had. there is definitely a positive momentum on that project now that has been established in the recent

under the new design high speed rail and cal train will share two tracks on the peninsula. many people say they like the idea of digging. they are concerned about trains and cars both running at street level. the california high speed rail authority says it would increase cost and engineering implications. >>> new sections of the old eastern span of the bay bridge will start to come down soon. crews have been working since the new span opened on labor day weekend. the demolition has been divided into three parts and the public is expected to see sections being removed starting this week. the complete dismantling is expected to take overall three years and cost $239 million. >>> a massive recovery project is discovered this afternoon. this is a photo of a partially submerged tug boat called captain l. the boat has been routing for decades and today the epa is expected to raise the 100-foot tug. the raising of the tug is part of the larger effort to clean up the estuary and get harmful con tanments out of the watt -- con con tanments out of the water. >>> >>> new casino opens
