lester holt will fill in for brian williams for at least the next few days. in california, bruce jenner was involved in an accident today. the olympian turned celebrity was not injured in the accident. it happened in malibu and the los angeles county sheriff's office says one person is dead and there are five or six other people injured and being treated at the hospital. this is a four-car crash. a vehicle manslaughter investigation has been opened. everyone involved in the crash is part of that investigation. paul, what are you hearing about those injured? >> we're hearing that they're all children or minors and that number is a discrepancy right now. the fire department saying five or six were injured. what we know about this is it was a chain reaction and basically bruce jenner's black escalade was in the middle of it, and his car hit a white lexus that went into another lane, into oncoming traffic, and this black hummer or hum vee hit the lexus. the front end caved in and the woman driving that car was reportedly dead on arrival. jenner took a breath test
