. >>> dozens of injured pelicans have been spotted in brevard county. >> sonni: wildlife officials are trying to figure out if something fishy is going on. >> reporter: there is a mystery along the beaches in brevard county. people are trying to figure out why they have discovered so many pelicans dead or with broken wings within the last month. according to the brevard county ocean rescue chief he said they found 16 dead or injured pelicans here just in cape canaveral. 60 county wide within the last month. i talked to florida fish and wildlife and they said they got a report that somebody had brown injuring the birds. fish and wildlife have a surveillance up sending boats out to keep an eye on the shrimp boat and they didn't see them doing anything wrong. they believe tkdz it could be a 5-10 year cycle where they see a large die-off of pelicans. they don't think there is any abuse going on but the ocean rescue chief in brevard county seems to think otherwise. >> seeing this many pelicans in this short of a time with broken wings somebody can say it is being inflicted but we don't know
