abc's pierre thomas leading us off with what he's learned tonight. >> reporter: abc news has learned one of the most dramatic congressional hearings in recent times could come as early as his silence, testifying in an open session before the american people about president trump -- and those memos comey kept after his meetings with the president. those sources telling abc news that so far, special counsel robert mueller has not objected to comey testifying, provided that he does not discuss evidence in the investigation into russian meddling. what comey is likely to talk about is president trump. according to sources familiar with his thinking, comey wants to be transparent and will respond to questions about his relationship with the president, and, more importantly, those private meetings -- the dinner. the phone calls. the president once joking about comey -- "he's become more famous than me." senators specifically want to know if the president sought a pledge of loyalty from comey early on, and if the fired fbi director was pressured to go easy on former national security adviser

abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live. amy? >> reporter: jessica, the park is open, just opening at 11:00. families are streaming in, but you will notice the emerald plunge slide and teal one next to it will be closed again today, but still will be getting a lot of attention. we saw a group of people looking it over this morning. that was before the park opened. a city spokesperson told us representatives from the slide manufacturerer are here as well as inspectors from calosha to see how it happened and how to prevent it. a 10-year-old boy fell off the slide. he was checked out at the hospital, and he is okay. officials inside try to figure out what happened, some on the outside are doing some speculating. one resident who says he's a pool contractor, wondering why they are not treated with a playground slide with a soft base. >> should have had impact material below the slide in case this happens, and that material should have been all around that slide in order to protect the kids. it's unfortunate to think our city might en

>>> now from abc 7, live, breaking news. >>> good evening, i'm eric thomas, we're staying on top of two breaking news stories. the first is major delays on all b.a.r.t. trains after a derailment. we told you about the problem in a push alert just after 3:30 this afternoon. abc 7 news was first on the scene and reporter tiffany wilson is live with new reaction from passengers, tiffany. >> reporter: eric, b.a.r.t. officials are calling this a minor derailment, but it's led to major disruptions all afternoon. i want you to look at the two train cars that derailed right before 3:00. one of them is actually sitting on the ground right now. now, those two cars were part of a nine-car pleasanton bound train and they fell several feet off of the tracks. officials are currently on the cars right now assessing the damage. b.a.r.t. says 24 people were on board as it left the station and passengers felt the train shudder, shake, violently about 10 times in a row, and then it ground to a stop. no one was hurt, but passengers were alarmed by the smoke. >> there was smoke coming out from the car behin

abc's pierre thomas leading us off with what he's learned tonight. >> reporter: abc news has learned one of the most dramatic congressional hearings in recent times could come as early as next week, with former fbi director james comey breaking his silence, testifying in an open session before the american people about president trump -- and those memos comey kept after his meetings with the president. those sources telling abc news that so far, special counsel robert mueller has not objected to comey testifying, provided that he does not discuss evidence in the investigation into russian meddling. what comey is likely to talk about is president trump. according to sources familiar with his thinking, comey wants to be transparent and will respond to questions about his relationship with the president, and, more importantly, those private meetings -- the dinner. the phone calls. the president once joking about comey -- "he's become more famous than me." senators specifically want to know if the president sought a pledge of loyalty from comey early on, and if the fired fbi director was
