(steve)(steve) (steve) tonight -- we are tracking rain moving through the bay area. this is a live look at san francisco.. it's the first rain of the season -- and it's badly needed as crews battle multiple wildfires... meteorologist lawrence karnow is standing by in the weather center -- lawrence? lawrence karnow: the first rain of the season is now moving into the bay area. it's a welcomed sight especially with all of the recent fires. winds are a little gusty ahead of the front between 15 to 25 mph. you can see the rain on doppler radar. it will be spreading south throughout the night and everyone should get some rain. we can expect as much as a quarter of an inch of rain in the north bay with more over the mountains. the rain will tapper off further south but everyone should get some much needed drops. a high surf advisory is in effect with waves as high as 18 feet at the coast. also a winter weather advisory goes up tonight for the sierra with between 3" to 6" expected over 6,500 feet. winds could gust to nearly 65 mph across higher peaks. you can see the cold l

(pam) kron4's j-r stone was there . he joins us live from santa rosa... jr? 40 year old mike grabow was remembered wednesday night. it's believed he was in bed when the tubbs fire tore through his santa rosa home near mark west springs road. tragically mike didn't make it out.he's just a really great person touched a lot of people probably the nicest man most genuine man i've ever met in my lifemike's friends spoke higly of him wednesday night. paul sheridan's wife was good friends with mike and like everyone else.was desperatly looking for him after the tubbs fire tore through the area.last text on her phone is asking if he's alright and there's no response so.this is what's left of mike's home. the pick up truck out front is about the only recognizable thing there but even that burned in the fire. wednesday night though it was about remembering the good times with mike. patrons packed

(steve) though (steve) (steve) an extreme housing shortage has only worsened in the wake of the destructive fires as demand is spiking in areas where hundreds of homes were lost. a north bay realtor tells kron-4 says one of the challenges... finding housing for people with different incomes. some homes that burned were worth more than a million dollars. but there are also families and people working in the service industry impacted. (steve) residents are also facing a challenge in rebuilding. kelly tells kron-4 it is difficult to find a contractor right now. and only a contractor with a valid california license is authorized to work on homes. as a result --- some residents may have no choice but to find housing outside of sonoma county.
