steve: let me turn to michael isikoff. michael: to follow up on them all the issue, you just wrote and the daily caller that my advice to the president is he must disempower and dismantle mueller's robe prosecution getting. first, have you spoken to the president about this and have you specifically told him he should fire mueller? stone: i don't believe that he should fire mueller so i would not have told him that in have not told him that. shouldve the president ignore the incorrect advice of his attorneys who appeared to have told him he does not have the authority to issue directives to the attorney general of the united states. the department of justice is an extension of the executive branch. the president should order mr. sessions to appoint a special counsel or in the matter of uranium one. that would put mr. mueller, mr. rosenstein even mr. under immediate federal investigation and i cannot see how they could proceed in the current jobs under that circumstance. michael: i'm a little confused because you wrote he s

michael flynn lied to the fbi. it's serious, a felony, but can't be what mueller has on him, which is a very, very strong indication that the cooperation is well underway? >> right. so the charge, lying to the fbi, is serious. but there are more serious charges. that by that i mean charges that carry more jailtime. what matters is that he pled guilty. what matters less what he pled guilty to. why do i say that? because all they need, by all, i mean all the prosecutors needed, investigators needed, for him to plead to something. that gives them an enormous amount of leverage to gain his cooperation in the coming weeks and months. so don't focus so much on the fact it was a single charge or on the fact it only carries five years in jail. focus on the fact that it will make him a convicted felon and gives him an enormous motive to cooperate. >> where, stan, in your mind, does this put us? is this a major development? >> well it is, because the subject now has shifted. as chuck was saying a moment ago, it matters that

today we have other news the surrounding michael flynn. even yesterday when we kept tearing this tax reform could happen -- hearing tax reform could happen the dollar kept falling. why? lisa: if i could expire the dollar this year, i would not be sitting at this table. it is been a big question mark for a lot of people. there are questions about the gop tax overhaul. the changes that are coming are fast and furious and potentially.bad we don't know the exact content . a survey of economists by the university of chicago showed only one of many economists surveyed believe that the tax plan would increase gdp materially over the next few years. it will likely increase the debt load of our country because likely the deficit will increase. that will make the dollar less worthwhile. i think this is what is factoring in here. on the flipside, and this does not square with what i'm saying, you have the fed and people saying the tax plan gets past, the fed will have to hike more next year. that should be positive for the dollar, but that does not s

joined by michael zelden, good to see you both here. you first, michael. white house counsel confirming that he wrote saturday's or it's the partial attorney, john dowd saying he is the one who wrote the tweet about michael flynn knowing about him lying on the fbi. why would his attorney do that? >> well, either because the president asked him to do it or he made a terrible mistake. i have known john dowd for a long time and he's a good and careful lawyer. to throw cold water on dowd making a colossal mistake, yesterday you and i talked about this tweet and said yesterday i didn't believe it was true. i didn't believe that the president knew that flynn had lied to the fbi and that tweet was mistaken. i still think that's the case, but i don't know yet how it got to be drafted and who was behind it and what was the purpose in crafting and releasing such a tweet. it did create a huge mess for the president as a consequence of it. it's not true. it's just not true. he did know it. >> why are you convinced that was a mistake and he did not know about lying to

michael? >> well, with taxtaxes aren't d have a government shutdown, but maybe we're actually going to get something in the next year on infrastructure. the administration has got a goal, i'm hearing, of something like early summer. you should be watching people like elaine chao, the transportation secretary, epa administrator, scott pruitt to be lead from the administration. what i'm hearing from capitol hill is, some complaints that the administration's a little vague, not entirely clear about what they want. general idea is, though, more flexibility to states -- and that means more money to spend on roads, bridges, these sorts of things. be on the lookout for that. >> they promised it in year one. we'll see if they can get it in year two. julie? >> this year the president will make a big speech on jerusalem, recognizing jerusalem as the capital of israel, which is something no american president has done in decades. it is follows of the united states, but this is a big move that he's actual

so the president fired michael flynn on february 13th. and then on february 14th is when he had the infamous comey meeting asked him to get rid of the investigation, drop it. that doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. he is saying it was very serious that he lied to the fbi. but the fbi should drop it. lying to the fbi is a crime. period. and the president doesn't seem to grasp that. and digging himself into a bigger hole. at the same time i'm hearing in the conservative stir cells this argument well look what this special counsel has done. they spent $5 million and all they have gotten is paul manafort, george papadopoulos and general flynn for lying about something not related to the campaign. so they are making that argument. and they are going out and starting to pressure people from the base to push congress to defund the mueller probe because the mueller probe, if mueller got fired you would see republicans turn on trump in an instant publicly. but if you defund it, you are not technically firing mueller, you are just not able to
