. >>> good evening once again from our nbc news headquarters here in new york. i'm steve kornacki in for brian williams. day 1134 of the trump administration, exactly 253 days to go until the election. tonight, the spread of the coronavirus is taking a further toll on the global markets and adding to the pressure on trump. today the dow plunged more noon 1,000 points and there's a point of more losses to come. the number of reported virus cases worldwide meanwhile continues to climb. it's now at more than 82,000. and while the majority of cases are in china, "the new york times" reports the coronavirus has now been detected in at least 48 different countries with case numbers rising rapidly in italy, iran and south korea. today the centers for disease control expanded federal guidelines to include people with symptoms who have recently traveled to those as well as to china and to japan. and japan has decided to shut down all schools for about a month. this in an effort to help contain its coronavirus outbreak. as for the united states, "the new york times" repor
