a great shot of san francisco. clear skies there. san jose 61 degrees. noticeably cooler this morning compared to yesterday. look at that, nevada, 11 degrees cooler. even in san jose two degrees cooler and the most noticeable one is half moon bay. 25 degrees cooler. we have that off shore flow that sort of helped to warm us up and it's what's keeping up dry and what's raising the concern for elevated fire danger. the red flag warning which was originally set to expire yesterday has extended to 8:00 a.m. we are 15 minutes away from that expiring in the north bay mountains and east bay hills. the winds are expected to diminish. and as far as the concerns for the heat, the heat advisory also expired yesterday but it will still be warm into the 80s and 90s. definitely above normal for this time of the year. it's october but it does not feel like it. not even around the coastline where it's usually a lot cooler. look at san jose, and san francisco once again in the mid 80s. 85 degrees. oakland, 88. napa in the 90s. concord, 95 degrees. those winds again look

you can see every bay area county with the exception of san francisco could be affected. these areas include the north bay mountains, east bay. also the oakland hills and communities in the santa cruz mountains. it could start sunday morning and go through tuesday morning. >> we have team coverage tonight. let's start with chief meteorologist of course keeping a close eye on the strong wind. >> everything really is materializing for the wind to not only impact the mountains but what's different about this that we haven't seen lately is the low elevations getting in on the wind. the large low pressure system. it's expansive. disrupting the atmosphere. as that starts to drop down. sunday, monday and tuesday. it's going to bring a cold blast to us. 60s coming our way. it will produce snow in denver. where they have had the wild fires outside of the area. and for us the same storm will bring the wind down. a closer look you'll see the bay area. the entire area here from the north bay. to the south bay is covered in this red flag fire warning. 20 to 50 plus miles per hour wind

quite a pretty picture, san francisco 55 degrees. notice the high back into the 60s thanks to the combination of the sea breeze and low clouds. we'll see patchy low clouds in the inner bay for the morning. still possible we'll have a little bit of smoke drift in from the north bay to start the day. and the sea breeze ongoing into the afternoon. most areas will see weather conditions in terms of the air quality similar to what we had today, at least around the central bay and coast. it will be inland, contra costa county, solano county, we'll se tuesday. so here's where things get interesting. notice as we get towards wednesday. this weather system is going to pull tropical moisture, the first that approaches the coast by thursday night and friday. there it is approaching the coast. and it looks like friday now, the first system will pass through. and then the second system which might be more intense may bypass most of the bay area. looks like the north bay will get the best chance of rain out of that system. and then high pressure s

. >>> a daring ocean rescue in the rough waters of san francisco. fire crews saved a man clinging to a rock at the bottom of the battery crosby cliffs. this is near the golden gate bridge. take a look at this video. it happened early this morning. rescue swimmers with a kayak had to position themselves between two large rocks. you can see them there with the light. when the surf came up, they rose up, grabbed the man, then paddled him about 200 yards to a rescue boat. that man is okay. >>> sfo held its annual emergency drill today. first responders practiced how to handle a simulated terror attack involving chemical weapons on a retired boeing 767 parked on the tarmac. volunteers played the roles of passengers. federal regulations require airports to have these training exercises every three years, but sfo does it every year. >>> making it in the bay. this is our ongoing series about the challenges of living here, like falling dominos, san francisco's sales taxes are sinking and people are moving out of the city. renters are suddenly finding bargain

a cool sort of cloudy evening in san francisco. so let's look at the current temperatures right now. 53 degrees in san francisco. 56 in oakland. chilly 40s in livermore. 46 degrees and we will be seeing temperatures in the 70s for this afternoon in terms of your daytime highs. but let's get to the red flag warnings that we're keeping a close eye on for tomorrow. i want to explain to you the timing of the winds and who's going to be seeing the initial winds. so the first red flag warning goes in to effect at 11:00 a.m. because we'll start to notice the gusting winds in the north bay mountains. however, fast forward the time line and the models are showing the winds begin to pick up not just in the north bay mountains and east bay hills but throughout the majority of the bay area. so the entire bay area will be under a red flag warning. we have sort of overlapping red flag warnings because of the winds. keep in mind, that the north bay mountains will remain under a high fire danger threat for today and including the santa cruz mounta
