let's go to that breaking news out of florida. crews continue to dig through the rubble following the building collapse over night. >> anne makovec has been following this for us all morning. what's the latest? >>> that search and rescue effort continues right now. we are waiting for the death toll to go up this morning unfortunately, very morbid to think about, but the number is likely going to go up because there are potentially dozens of people missing now. this is video from the scene after this 12 story condo building partially collapsed at about 2:00 this morning local time. this is near miami. it is just north in a town called sea side. one person is dead at this point. at least ten people were injured. but again the numbers are likely to go up. at this point, we have no idea what caused the building to go down partially. there are over 130 units in the building. we are hearing 136. the manager says it was relatively full at the time, about 55 of the condos have been destroyed. we heard from the mayor earlier. >> it's the m

this is 1:30 a.m., surfside, florida, 55 units of a condo pancaked. florida's governor toured the disaster site a short time ago. >> we thank the fire and rescue for what they did to be able to put themselves on the line to help other folks. they're still hard at work. we still have hope to be able to identify additional survivors. >> county commissioners told cnn that 51 people are unaccounted for. she says it's possible they could be on vacation or simply away from their home. rescue teams saved 35 people from that 12-story building, another two from the rubble. not one of those was a 10-year-old boy and the man who found him said he first heard someone yelling. >> i could begin to hear him clearly and hereby his voice that he was a little boy, couldn't have been more than preteens. i saw an arm sticking out of the wreckage and he was screaming can you see me? so we started to climb up to him to try and see if we could get him free. but it was too heavy, too much rebar, stuff like that. it was going to take quite a bit of effort to get him out. he w

the florida department of transportation have started to assess the alternate site, the florida department of services continues to search for the warehouse for resource donation. the department of families is coordinating with the county to distribute gift cards for displaced individuals. additionally as a reminder, they have deployed two of their units here for no fee, driver's license and identification cards, vehicle registration to the impacted individuals. i need to remind you those hours were from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at the family assistance center. the department of safety vehicles has partnered with the red cross to identify any impacted individuals needing assistance. we know this is a difficult time for families and first responders in the rescue and recovery efforts. please know florida is here to help you and i think the lieutenant governor for their leadership and allowing us to respond and do what we need to do without hesitation. i want to remind you if you cannot find the resource, you can call florida 211 and we will get you to the site we need you to be associated with.
