marshals and fugitive task force are out searching for them. but there's been a lot of back and forth here as to whose fault this is. is it the sheriff's fault? is it the prosecutor's fault? take a listen to some of what the prosecutor said explaining some of what happened here. >> the prosecutor's office doesn't arrest people. we were in constant communication with the sheriff's office. our prosecutors that were leading the case and they were surveilling them and we were told they were surveilling them. we were getting updates about the cell phone pinging and they conveyed to us that they were confident where the two people were. >> reporter: and don, lastly, also, what happened was several hours ago i spoke to the under sheriff here. he said the last time they talked to the lawyers for these parents was around 4:00. and at that time the lawyers said they had not spoken to their clients. so of course, now, the big question is where are they? there certainly doesn't appear to be any, any reason to believe that at this point that the parents int

marshall also says young people are very aware of police staffing cuts across the bay area and the no bail system, making them less afraid to commit crimes. he hopes that the work he does it alive and free omega boys club will continue to guide more young people on a path to college and away from violence. he also has okay in the l radio show called street soldiers. it's been around a long time too. it focuses on violence prevention and all of the issues challenging young people and their lives and safety. >> city of san jose is installing license plate readers to readers, rather to catch retail thieves. the move comes after the recent smash-and-grab robberies at some of the city's major shopping districts. the city council agreed yesterday to spend $250,000 in federal relief funds to lease new license plate, reading cameras over the next few months. the city council will have to decide whether or not the cameras will be stationary or mobile to go to different hotspots. let's check on our 4 zone weather forecasts on this first day of the last month of the year. boy time has flown by.

marshal for the eastern district of michigan. i would just like to say thank you on behalf of the united states marshall service to the sheriff's office here in oakland county. the sheriff and his team have always been phenomenal. we've always had a terrific partnership with the detroit fugitive apprehension team and his staff. our officers responded the moment that we got the tip that the vehicle had been found in detroit, and we had units out working all day yesterday and last night they converged on the scene and were able to help the detroit police department take those subjects into custody. i would also like to thank chief white and his team down in detroit. they did a phenomenal job of identifying the vehicle, locating the subjects in a building that they believed they were in as soon as we had enough personnel on site to search that building. we did so. we executed the warrants, and thankfully, no one was hurt in the apprehension of these two individuals, and they are now safely in custody, so great thanks to chief white

marshals. and they withdrew $4,000. >> these two were pound in a room locked hiding, these are not people we can be assured will return to court on their own. the two parents face four charges each of involuntary manslaughter. the judge had to read out the charges for each of the four high school students here that have been murdered and the mother sobbed audibly each time she had to say i understand, or not guilty. they pled not guilty to all four counts. the prosecutor laid out the role that she said that the parents played in this deadly rampage that the parents, the father initially bought the handgun for the 15-year-old boy and the mother trained on the gun with him. and when he was caught looking for amunition, the mother texted don't get caught next time. lol. there was a meeting with the son and administrators, and the teacher had found a drawing the student made in his desk, showing someone getting shot with a handgun at express the thoughts won't stop, help me written on that. after t

marshal when they finally had enough we didn't know that they were going. we didn't know immediately. they had gotten concerns about the facility. they go when and there taken in to the area where the other prisoners are held, not january 6. that gave them time to scrub off mold and clean off the areas where january 6 inmates were and they did that they had enough time to get the nastiest parts cleaned up. so the u.s. marshal held the cleaner side of the jail was not adequate in the 400 people needed to be shipped out to incarceration in pennsylvania. by the time they get over the january 6 it was cleaner and they let that go. then after that will for we went over to an inspection they had done some painting, allowing them to ours outside their solitary confinement. one of the older gentleman there, he is alleged to have had a gun. i know the attorney general garland was either being dishonest or he let us know he's incompetent when i asked him was anybody inside the capital found to have had a gun and he knew the answer and i knew the answer and yet he sai

marshals have all been searching for most of the day for the parents. they found them at this -- there was a building not far from where i'm standing behind me here. that's where they were arrested. that's where they were apprehended on the first floor. what brought police here was that someone called 911 to report that they saw the car, the car that police were looking for. they saw a woman standing near the car that fit the description of the mother. and so police started their search, and then they found them in the building here behind me. so now we're waiting for police to brief us on what they know and how that went, the search for them. we understand they were taken into custody without incident. they're now being transported to a detention center, and at some point they're going to wind up back in oakland. we don't know why detroit, why they wound up here. this is about 40 minutes or so from oakland. they don't seem to have any kind of connections to this area, but we're waiting for police to tell us exactly. it just seems kind of strange that t
